We arrived it NorthBend for the last 3 nights of our honeymoon at the end of a most memorable road trip through the "confederate states". We couldn't have chosen better. The house of a confederate officer through which passed the union general Sherman, steeped in history and the paradoxes of this part of the US summed up all our experiences....

This was our second time coming to North Bend. We originally came here as a pit stop last year but felt like 1 night was not nearly enough. So, when I asked my daughter where she wanted to go on vacation this year, she said she wanted to go back to North Bend and spend more than one night with...

What a History filled and yet restful weekend. This beautiful and historic plantation is midway between Richmond and Williamsburg. Wonderful beds and great breakfast awaits. After a day out in Colonial Williamsburg or at Plantations you come back to a private inviting swimming pool that is warm yet refreshing and so private. The proprietors are experts on the history of...

I found myself at Ridgely's back door while on my honeymoon, as something spiritual seemed to fill my soul. As I drove into this magnificent plantation upon entering the front door, one is instantly taken back into time. Going into the sitting parlor with a hot cup of tea, my bride was taken back into the mid 1800's, as our...

From the first time we saw the house and entered the front door, my wife and I were awe struck. We still cannot believe we stayed two nights in such an historic and beautiful old home. Our hostess, Ridgely, was very gracious. She keeps an immaculate house and is a very good cook. Breakfast was delicious. If you love history,...

We stayed for 3 nights. We were welcomed and made to feel comfortable and at ease. The entire house is elegant and easy to love. We enjoyed the Rose Room and our relatives, the Magnolia Room. The beds were very comfortable and the room had the amenities one would expect. The 2 porches were easily accessible and beckoned one to...

We stayed here for one night in April. The house is amazing. Ridgely is a lovely gentle lady. We enjoyed having a late night drink on our private porch. The breakfast table was a sight to behold with old silver and china but the breakfast itself was HUGELY disappointing. For the price per night a good breakfast should be served....

My husband and I attended a wedding in the area and stayed at North Bend Plantation. What a beautiful place! The house is comfortable, and full of history and antuques. The owner, Ridgely, was delightful, charming and interesting. We also had the opportunity to float in her salt pool, which we loved. I wish we would have had more time...

Lovingly restored plantation house, beatifully located on the North Bend locality of the James River, in a peaceful farmland setting, far from the madding crowds. The plantation is (and feels like) a home, which has been in the family for generations and is furnished with antiques that are largely family heirlooms. It is full of history but the atmosphere is...

My wife and I spent one night at North Bend Plantation. It was memorable. We arrived around 4 pm and were greeted at the door by the proprietor, Ridgely Copland and her dog, Rudy. She immediately made us feel welcomed, providing an impromptu tour of the home and its many antiques and curiosities. Many of the antiques have stories, such...

“I can only speak for the Rose Room where we stayed--it has a very comfortable bed.”

“The rooms are all different as are the beds (one was very high for example) so discuss what best suits you with the owner.”

“Ridgely will advise you. My wife and I are not big people, so we took a room with a queen-size bed. There is a room with a king-size bed if that better fits your needs. The view out all of the rooms is similar...with a bucolic farm setting visible out all windows.”
