Travellers' Choice
The Norwich Inn’s proximity to the area’s top attractions makes our Vermont inn your ideal “home base,” regardless of the season. We’re less than a mile from the world-famous King Arthur Flour, approximately one mile from Dartmouth College and four miles from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Our historic Vermont inn is only a minute from the New Hampshire border, the Connecticut River, and Interstate 91 – you’ll always be in the midst of what’s happening in the Upper Valley. Steeped in history, the Norwich Inn captures the essence of the region. Dartmouth graduate, Colonel Jasper Murdock originally built the Inn in 1797. After a devastating fire, the inn was rebuilt in 1890. The inn still exudes its original Victorian charm to go along with new lodging buildings, the Walker House and Ivy Lodge. Enjoy a culinary journey inside our cozy, historic dining room or the bustling Pub. We provide our guests with free Wi-Fi, parking, exercise room & phone calls to U.S. and Canada.

This is the first hotel I’ve stayed at in a long time that does not have a coffee maker or mini fridge in the room. There is a coffee maker in the lobby for a whole wing of the hotel to use during a pandemic. Go figure....

We are so sorry that we did not provide you with the amenities you are accustomed to during your stay. We strive to make all of our guests feel comfortable and provide for their needs and it is obvious we fell short this time. We have a variety of room types on property, some that include an individual coffee maker and fridge and some that do not. We do have the ability to add a refrigerator into any of our rooms upon request and as you said have shared coffee stations for rooms that do not have the individual ones. Normally, we can upgrade or provide a room with a fridge and coffee maker if that is the guests preference. Unfortunately during the past week we have been performing routine maintenance on our heating and air conditioning unit in the building that houses these rooms . We apologize we were unable to offer you a complementary upgrade to one of these rooms during your stay and appreciate your feedback. We will look into purchasing some backup coffee makers in case a guest does request to add one into their room during their stay in the future. Thanks again for supporting our small business we appreciate it.

Very impressed to find that they are taking the coronavirus very seriously, reminding guests prior to their arrival of the current VT state and Inn travel policies, and not allowing those which have not followed policies to stay on site. While some of the sight seeing/local hot spots had limitations due to covid, the Inn made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay.

The room was huge. We were able to just go downstairs for a terrific meal. Throughout our stay, we felt that Covid precautions were closely followed. The location was perfect for exploring the area. The staff was friendly and attentive. The staff arranged for champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Norwich Inn. Room was great - modern amenities in a historic setting. They have a great area outside area to relax, eat a snack or a meal, but most importantly, to taste one of their craft beers. Tried several and all were excellent. They have a restaurant as well. The menu was limited due to Covid but was quite good. The staff was very accommodating and gave us great suggestions for activities, restaurants, and regional history. Norwich Inn is close to Dartmouth and is convenient for those that are visiting the school. There are also many other surrounding activities. We did a great hike that was just a few miles away (Giles Mountain) as well as visited the surrounding towns. Simon Pearce has a large store with an excellent restaurant. We plan to return next year. A weekend wasn’t enough.
