What can i say about the Equinox?? Our stay was amazing! New chef is incredible, and is really returning the Tavern and the Chop House to the best places in town! From drinks on the Falcon Deck, to morning coffee on the Lincoln Lawn, it was just a perfect experience - and that was before we met the new Happiness Officer Cooper!! There is new management at the Equinox and it shows, and we can’t wait to come back!!

We have stayed in Equinox many times over the past few years. The last time we were here was during New Years Eve 2021 and got a nice upgrade being a Bonvoy Gold member. We have been coming since 2013 when Equinox was a Starwood property and the only resort in the north east. Then it became a Marriott Bonvoy property and since Feb 2021 it became an independently managed hotel. Good: We came back to the property to spend 4 nights during spring break in April 2021 and noticed somethings which were the same and even better: 1. The interior hallways got a much awaited refresh. 2. The service staff and the restaurant staff are always very friendly and hospitable. 3. The Spa and pool staff is also very friendly and accommodating. Bad: But certain things had changed for the worse: 1. No grandfathering of Bonvoy status which will have an adverse impact on the hotels loyal clientele that enjoyed status and gotten used to those upgrades. 2. Most importantly, most of the front desk staff was new and inexperienced. while some front desk staff was hospitable and friendly some of them were unwilling to work with customers on their request. For example, when I asked for a late checkout on a slow Wednesday morning, Jonathan the front desk supervisor told me that won’t be possible and the new rules are very strict on late checkout and the maximum he can accommodate will be 12. After that he will have to charge me. 12 o’clock is the usual checkout time in majority of the hotels. When I tried rationalizing with him he told me to come back again and try asking again in 15 min when his shift will be over. This is not how the hotel will be able to build loyalty from customers. It’s a common policy to check the length of stay, see the day and incoming traffic to see if the late checkout request can be accommodated and also keep the history of the guest in mind. If they are repeat customers, it’s highly likely that they like your property and these small gestures go a long way to show that they are welcome in the property. It takes many occasions to build customer loyalty but it takes only 1 bad experience to loose it all. With these rigid and un accommodating rules, I see us prioritizing other properties over Equinox where we enjoy loyalty status and other perks.

We enjoyed the beautiful hotel for 3 nights. Our family of 4 stayed in a suite and had a blast. We reserved the pool 2 different times, Adam was very helpful. The fire pit behind the Falcon Bar was fun to sit around at night, while we enjoyed cocktails (made well by Dillion) the kids had some delicious strawberry shortcake. It was really wonderful to soak in the views of the mountains and the grounds of the historic hotel. It was nice to walk around the massive hotel and take in the craftsmanship, unique history and tasteful decor. The hike to equinox pond was very refreshing, highly recommended. The kids especially enjoyed the whole experience and we look forward to doing it again. Thanks!

Please read. My friends and I came here for a weekend getaway. Things were okay until Sunday checkout when we found charges to our room for drinks/food we did not order. We notified the front desk and they said that they would have to verify that it was a mistake and they could only do that by involving the Director of Food and Beverage. Mind you the extra charge was ~$65. At any other hotel this would be a situation the front desk could handle. They basically indicated to us that they didn’t believe us, but my question was how was a Director of Food and Beverage going to “verify it was a mistake” when he wasn’t even there? They had no response. I suggested they review surveillance footage so they can see what we ordered for themselves since they didn’t believe us. That would be better than asking someone who wasn’t there. Obviously they had no interest in doing that. We spent an hour on Sunday dealing with this issue and missed brunch reservations before our friends had to catch a train. Sunday was checkout. The manager insisted that the Director of Food and Beverage would call me Monday. Monday went by and of course no call. I called 3 times asking for an update and they said they were still working on it and would get back to me before the end of the day. Of course that didn’t happen. I called back at 9pm that night and was told that there’s still no update. Tuesday rolls around and the Director of F&B finally calls. I tell him there were food and drinks that we didn’t order but were charged to our rooms and that a resort credit (standard for one night) was not applied to our bill. That afternoon he calls back and tells me he’s going to remove the charge for the food and remove a drink charge (which would basically act as the missing resort credit). He told me the charge should be applied by Friday and that if it wasn’t applied by then, that I should call him back the FOLLOWING TUESDAY (one week later) to follow up. It’s now Friday and still no credit. I call the Director of F&B to let him know and he says that he talked to accounting and they confirmed that the credit was applied. He then proceeded to tell me that the hotel has done all they could and that I should follow up with the credit card company since it’s an issue on their end. I explained to him that that’s not how credit cards work. Any refund or credit needs to be applied by the HOTEL; my credit card isn’t just going to apply a credit to my account. He said there’s nothing he can do because the accounting department told him they applied the credit. He then said that I should contact him Tuesday if no credit has been applied. He was clearly irritated and raised his voice throughout the conversation. I told him that management told me the total hotel bill (room + food/billables) would not be charged to my card until this entire issue was resolved. Of course my credit card was charged the full amount and his only response was check back with him on Tuesday. So the hotel was okay with charging my card for the full amount even after saying they wouldn’t do so and made it my responsibility to keep checking with them to have a credit applied. All this for a $65 charge that was never supposed to be on our bill in the first place. There has been no effort made to rectify the situation beyond the bare minimum of applying a credit (which we STILL don’t have). They have made us deal with this for the last 6 days (and counting). I’ve personally spent hours talking to and following up with various staff asking for updates. The hotel has made no attempt to try to make things right. They act as if they are doing us a favor for refunding us our money. I travel a lot and can honestly say I’ve never felt so insulted or been treated so poorly by a “luxury” hotel. This hotel will treat you well until they make a mistake. Then you’re on your own and will be made to feel as if you’re a criminal that’s making things up to get free stuff.
