The rooms are pretty basic here, and the older building has it shortcomings in terms of ventilation and facilities. When on a skiing trip , I prefer a more comfortable bath setup; however, in off season, the room is fine. I really enjoy the breakfast and dinner options. Food is typically a cut above average, which you expect in Vermont.... More

Friendly staff; however, I had problem getting a hold of innkeeper when we needed an iron. Didn't eat there so I couldn't rate the food. Room was clean. Room contained ironing board but no iron. A desk in the room would have been nice.

My husband and I spent the night at the Inn. The following day we had to go to a memorial service... It was so charming and cute. I don't understand what the complaints are about. We, got there a little late around 6 because we stopped at some places around the area. The restaurant was good the breakfast was amazing... More

This an old but not so charming inn. The "year round hot tub" advertised on their website does not operate year round and was covered with construction materials in October. The manager said they only open it in the winter. The free coupons for the bakery, also advertsised on the website, apparently don't exist because we were not given those either.... More

I arrived here early, around 1 pm so I was not allowed to check in. But at 3pm, there was someone at the desk and he was very helpful and gave me the keys to my room. I had a nice stay at the inn. It is old but that did not bother me at all. It added charm to... More

This a very old historic inn. The staff are very friendly, the room was nice, but very chilly!!! No thermostat, but when you step out into the hall it's very warm. We stayed here for the weekend while in town for a wedding, there is only one mirror in the room, which was a little inconvenient. Over all nice though,... More

My husband and I got married here in 1989. We own a cabin close by and have been to the BASEMENT BAR a few time (I avoid basement bars at all cost) I walked upstairs this past fall (Oct 2015) and couldn't believe how dark, dismal and empty the place was. Apparently they only have rooms now, and a breakfast... More

Thank you for the review. Not sure the date or the day of the week you came up to our dining room. The dining room is opened Thurs, Friday, and Saturday each week and also for special occasions which we do frequently. The Tavern, referenced as the bar in the basement, is not in a basement, opens out to three... More

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon for a week and absolutely fell in love with the charm of this inn and the very friendly people that work here. If you want New England charm, it is here. Staff and owner were very accommodating. If I were to have ANY complaint it would be I wish it were... More

Loved the Smuggler's Notch Inn (not to be confused with the Smuggler's Notch Resort)! We found it to be very atmospheric, cozy, clean and comfortable. Patrick, the owner, was very friendly and helpful, and we thank him for the gift card towards the excellent breakfast we had in the morning! The only reason we didn't feel we could give this... We didn't stay at the Inn, but had dinner there. The place itself needs some upkeep. The dining room was ok, the bathrooms so tiny there is no room to move. But the food was really good. My husband had the flat iron steak, a little hard to cut, but it was really tender to eat, very tasty. I had... More

“I would not take Room 9 again. The other rooms that my friends had and others that we looked at were nicer. The innkeeper was very busy and not available in the office but wasn't hard to track down. We were told the rooms were all taken so the innkeeper was very busy.”
