We loved our stay here... our room was simple but immaculate with stencil borders on the walls and other unique touches... very comfortable beds and bedding. The views are fabulous and the experience restful and relaxing. We rented bikes and toured the small island area. This is a place to come and get away from it all. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

The location of this lodge is beautiful - right on the edge of the lake. You walk right out of your room onto the small lawn which is in front of the rocks and the water. Keep in mind there is no beach area, so you can not swim right there. There is a dock near the restaurant that you... More

We stayed at Ruthcliff Lodge from September 1 to 3. The lodge is perfectly located on Lake Champlain. All rooms are lake front. The nights were quiet and peaceful. "Zen" is the first word that came to our mind. Mark and Kathy, the owners, are really kind and helpful, making us feel at home. Diners was top quality, like a... More

We were in Isle La Motte to visit St. Anne's shrine and stayed at the lodge for 2 nights. If I could, I would give this lodge 2.5 stars, as we felt the accomadations were somewhere between adverage and poor. But as I can't do that I have rounded the rating up to 3. First the possitives - as others... More

We stayed at Ruthcliff Lodge from Thursday, July 12 through July 16. Despite the hot weather in Vermont - we truly enjoyed our stay at Ruthcliff. My husband and I are active people and we loved being able to rent kayaks and bikes from the lodge. Since the lodge is right on the water, we could launch and paddle all... More

Quiet location (no noise at all from the campground next door) located directly on Lake Champlain. We could walk out of our room and were just a few steps away from the lake. Perfect place to sit and enjoy the view. Our room and the bathroom (and the shower) were small - but all that we needed. Breakfast was good... More

The solitude, peacefulness and views are a balm to the busy soul. There is nothing phony, glitzy or contrived about Ruthcliff. Just walking out of my room, seeing the lake and the vistas across the lake was breathtaking. The food is creative, plentiful and in my 2 visits, worthy of a top class restaurant. This is Vermont, not Cape Cod,... More

I was at Ruthcliffe for 2 nights in June 2012. A throwback to true lodge style camps where the intention is to enjoy the outdoors, relax in an adirondack chair by the lake, appreciate the stunning views, eat well and disconnect. ( Internet and phone service exist, but really to be here is to commit to disconnection). This little family... More

My boyfriend and I recently ate dinner here and enjoyed every moment of it. The food, service and view was excellent! I recommend the Dijon herb encrusted rack of lamb, which was cooked to perfection. I would also recommend the Fra Diavlo, for people who like a little extra flavor! Try to leave room for Kathy's homemade desserts! mmm! True authentic... More

“The bed in the Grapevine Room is hard as a rock and the mildew smell from the carpet is horrible if you have any sensitivity to mold. As well, wifi is only available in the main building, not in the rooms as their advertising might lead you to believe.”
