Lovely old home with beautiful grounds and a bit of a hiking trail down to a river in back of the property. There are rooms in the main house, but we opted for Hummingbird cottage which was in a separate building with two units. Cottage had a cute exterior and was lovely inside. Small, but still had everything we needed....

Thank you for your review. We enjoyed meeting you both. I am sorry that I did not know your husband's preference for sunny side up eggs. I would be happy to make them for him. I will make a note of it, and have them especially for him upon your return! Thanks again!

Such a lovely property as are the innkeepers. Though just a short walk from Main Street Brattleboro, it's an oasis of undisturbed tranquility. I found myself wishing time would stand still so we could stroll the peaceful grounds and garden or simply sit in the pretty gazebo for hours on end. Our overnight stay, however, was far too short though...

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are sorry that you couldn't stay longer, but look forward to next time. One wonderful aspect of Brattleboro is that we are lucky enough to have an Amtrak station, with daily service from New York City. We happily pick up guests from (and drop them off at) the train station. The...

My wife surprised me with a short getaway to this lovely B&B in Brattleboro. The property was simply amazing. The owners are new, having only just purchased the place a few months earlier, but clearly very experienced at what they do. They have already begun transforming what is a spectacular Inn into something even more special from the plans they...

Thank you, Bob, for your kind review. It was a pleasure being part of your birthday celebration here at the Inn. Since you were here, we have made many, many improvements to the Inn and its gardens. We can't wait for you to come back and see all that we have been doing! Cheers!

I stayed here for just one night with my 15-year-old grandson. As soon as I saw the garden, I felt this was the right place--the garden is so lovely and peaceful. We had a beautiful "suite" of two rooms that were elegantly furnished and immaculate. Cindy, our hostess, was warm and gracious, and manages to visit with guests while preparing...

Katherine, thank you so much for your kind review. Since taking over the Inn in Mid-June, we have been working tirelessly to restore the gardens to their former grandeur. We found some pictures of the back yard from the 1930s which showed a fountain right in the middle of the yard. At some point, it had been filled in with...

Great spot for a relaxing getaway. The breakfasts were amazing! The rooms are comfortable, clean and well decorated. There is a nice outdoor area and although is does sit fairly close to the road, it is still very quiet. Our room faced the street and we were not bothered by it at all. There are plenty of things to do...

This is my second stay at Forty Putney Road (soon to be remamed "The Inn at Putney Road") and I'm sure it won't be my last. The rooms are impeccably clean and beautifully appointed all with en suite bathrooms. A nice touch is the free snacks and drinks that are replenished daily. I love that there's a small fridge in...

Thank you so much for your kind words. There can be no greater compliment for an Inn or its Innkeepers than to be told that the Inn "feels like home!" We work hard to make the Inn unpretentiously elegant for our guests to enjoy. We are eager to share all that Brattleboro has to offer, including its great restaurants, shopping,...

Although I had a very brief stay at the Fort Putney Rd B&B, it was a balm to my tired soul after driving many hours. The room was lovely with all the amenities and very quiet. I woke up to discover a lovely huge back garden which I enjoyed walking through with coffee in hand early in the morning. Breakfast...

Thank you so much for your review. We are glad you had the chance to relax and unwind. The gardens are really a special part of Forty Putney Road, and are constantly changing and showing different sides to what has always been a quiet place to relax and enjoy. Bird watching is a relaxing thing to do in our gardens,...

Thank you so much for your review. It has been challenging moving into the Inn and having it open to guests at the same time. We are so happy that we seem to be able to do it and still give our guests a great experience. The "spotless" rooms our due to our very dedicated housekeepers, who take pride in...

We just returned from a one night stay in the Garden View room. We had time for a quick walk on the forest paths down to the water and then enjoyed the night in our room. There were two lounger chairs, views to the garden, a petite bathroom, fridge, numerous free snacks, coffee & cookies downstairs and glorious soft sheets....

Thank you for your review. The paths that lead down to the lake also will take you to the Brattleboro Retreat, and then to the Retreat paths for a total of about 18 miles of trails right from our back yard. The water is beautiful, and we are currently building a deck so that guests can enjoy the view in...

We booked this B&B because they advertised it had an onsite tavern. We got there and the owners had changed hands and closed up the tavern. We were really looking forward to Vermont local beers right where we were staying. It still advertises the onsite tavern. Might want to change that. The property was nice and we booked the Hummingbird...

Connie, Thank you for your review. Please accept our apologies regarding the closing of the tavern. The previous owners, Tim and Amy Brady were totally into craft beers. So much so that they sold this Inn and opened a nano-brewery/brew pub that has quickly become a feature in Brattleboro, called the Whetstone Station. As new owners, we made the decision...
