We did a spur of the moment trip to Bennington and needed to spend the night, well not only did we find this place, we liked it so much we stayed a second night. The Owner/staff were so pleasant and accommodating. This place is surround by such beauty and you can actually see the Battle Monument there. It is very well maintained and decorated with art from local artist. My Friend actually bought me a frame piece for a remembrance.
I passed this property countless times in and out of the Bennington area, but with its unassuming facade, I simply never took notice. However, I needed a dog friendly place to stay for a few nights, and I'm grateful to have discovered this motel on Tripadvisor. The staff is kind and welcoming. The room was squeaky clean with plenty of comfort amenities (fridge, toiletries, complimentary bottled water, etc.) and the bed was quite comfortable. The Harwood Hill is located on the relatively quiet north side of Bennington right next to The Publyk House restaurant. For visitors to the area, this is a good spot for easy access to Bennington, Manchester, Rutland and the surrounding ski resorts.
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful one night stay in the winter at this very nicely remodeled motel. The room was very clean and comfortable. There was the added benefit of staying on the weekend since Saturday and Sunday mornings a breakfast spread is put out in the office. Trays are supplied to carry food back to your room. Like everything else at Harwood Hill it was nicely presented. We will be returning during warmer weather to experience the entire property since the back was snow covered. I would definitely recommend this motel if traveling to Bennington.
The lady who runs the motel does it with love and fervor. The rooms are clean and lovingly furnished. On the walls there are beautiful little paintings and in the morning there is a good continental breakfast in the small reception. There are also good restaurants within walking distance to round off your stay. Make an excursion to Manchester to the Northshire Bookstore there. Impressive bookshop.
In Bennington for a wedding, Harwood Hill had a friendly staff and a Vermont vibe New Yorkers can appreciate. I remember a rustic breakfast in the lobby, clean rooms and easy access. The inn was close to the places we were traveling in Bennington.
