I stayed here in May of 2013...... I just recently started doing reviews for Trip Advisor, so this one is over-due. There are six or seven rooms that sit quietly behind the Starlight Theater and the Trading Post in the Ghost Town. They have each been extensively re-done and are gems! Each has it own name that I will let...

Thanks for your kind review. You have picked a wonderful time to extend your visit to the Big Bend. The rains have transformed the desert into a wonderland and we are glad that you got to experience a long stay in the last frontier. Stick around. It only gets better in October!

Whilst I understand this was peek season, I do feel that this property is overpriced for the experience.($180) The good things; the room was clean, comfy bed, although it did dip in the middle so not ideal for two people! Good supply of complementary water, soda & snacks. Nice meal & drinks in the Starlight theatre. The bad things; we...

We are sorry that your stay was less than excellent at the Holiday Hotel. We never could locate any source for the odor that you experienced in your room and we apologize for the inconvenience. Discovering the door to your room open is a complete mystery. You are right about Terlingua though. It really is a community of incredibly honest...

Clean, cool accommodations. Very close to Starlight Theater & ghost town. No TV, but good wifi. I would stay here again. Set outside and drink your coffee while looking at the majestic scenery of the mountains. We stayed in the Black Bear & it will sleep 6. Full size bunk beds in front room with two chairs & a separate...

Stayed in Cinnabar Suite...lots of room, nothing fancy...quiet and relaxing...only negative was the shower...for this much money, it would be nice to not have a plastic shower curtain hitting you in the face :-) Nice walking distance to Trading Co and coffee shop in the morning...

Thanks for your review, and sorry about the shower curtain. Most of our rooms have designer style shower curtains that match the individual theme of each room. Your review has merited a new and better experience in the shower. Come to see us again. The Big Bend is beautiful this time of year after all of the rain.

We stayed 2 nights in Uh Clems and 1 night in Cinnabar. Uh Clem's is one bedroom plus bathroom. Nice rock shower. Fridge, coffee maker, snacks and juice provided. Cinnabar is 2 bedroom plus bath. Fire place but we didn't use it. These are not fancy but more than adequate. I love that they are right behind the store and...

Hey, it is Terlingua, it is a ghost town. Being able to find a cool room with a great shower and a fridge is pure luxury. This room has everything you need after a long day birding in Big Bend. Nice room, quiet, big bathroom, lots of goodies to eat and drink. It was hot outside but cool and dark...

We just stayed in the El Patron suite for 2 nights. We had originally booked 5 nights, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel 3 of the nights. I called them more than 3 weeks before I arrived and told them of the cancellation. They still charged me over $80 per night for each of the cancelled nights....

Your stay was during the peak Spring Break season and our cancellation policy is pretty rigid during that time. Apparently, you did receive a discounted rate for the cancellation. It is important to make you aware that trip insurance is offered for all of our guest upon making the initial reservation. We are sorry that you had to leave early...

We came back for two spring break nights year later. Still keep my rating as very good concidering remote location and limited choice of hotels of any type. I did reservation in November for late March, and it was already to some degree limited availability. 50% of price was charged immediately. This is non-refundable deposit with 30 days ahead if...

You know that friend that has a great place and really knows how to be a great host? Yeah, it was like that. Our rooms (Uh Clem and El Patron) were an easy walk to everything. The entire process was perfect: I received an email ahead of time with all of the information I needed. Had a great phone conversation...

Casa Buena Vista. Where I'm from we would call it a hunting camp – a run-down old building full of second and third-hand furniture. I get that it's a historic 100-year old one-of-the-few-remaining-adobe buildings from the mining town, but it's a shame the way the owners have neglected it. Let's start with the master bedroom. It has a glass door...

We are sorry that the Casa Buena Vista did not meet your expectations. I am very happy to inform you that it has undergone extensive renovations and improvements since you were there. Hopefully, when you will return to the Big Bend, you will be pleasantly surprised at it's metamorphosis. Again, we are sorry that your stay was not exceptional.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Holiday Hotel is no franchise resort. It's perfect for raucous revelry or a romantic rendezvous, or both...You'll find many things in the Ghost Town in the exact condition they've been in for centuries, and that's great for exploring, but at the end of the day you'll want air conditioning.Named for the reddish mercury ore that fueled the industry that was the Chisos Mine, this room belies the Ghost Town location and offers a rustic yet elegant experience. The fancy indoor bathroom that we're so proud of is -- ahem... -- a short walk down the scenic porch, marked Room # 1B. It's a Terlingua tradition that has caught on big in Europe. erlingua chic, the Candililla House is great for either couples or families. Perched on a hillside, it offers an everchanging view of sunsets, starlight, and thunderstorms. There is a patio outside the walls and another within. The El Patron Suite is suitable for business meetings, but they're frowned on around the Ghost Town. Instead, have a few amigos/amigas join you for a festive evening. Walk over to the famous Terlingua Cemetery to greet the ghosts, or just watch the sunset with everyone on the porch over at the Trading Post. Bring your guitar (but not the accordion.)The Candelilla House gets its name from the local cactus that was gathered by the locals and used in the manufacture of women's makeup products. The owners' family operated both a trading post and a processing facillity that kept this Mexican tradition alive.Just down the road a piece from the end of the earth is the Rio Grande Rock House. This is not some neo-cowboy fantasy replica. It's real by-God Texas history. Built in the early 19th century as a trading post for trappers and settlers from both sides of the border, it's still in the same family. We're proud to be out on the fringe of Texas. Come on down.Free Parking - Wireless Adjacent* - Indoor Plumbing**If you stand out on the porch and hold your laptop up real high, you may get a signal.*The indoor plumbing is not necessarily "in your room." ... more   less
