We have always enjoyed Clayton's while visiting SPI as Winter Texans. Knowing this my daughter gave us a gift certificate for Christmas. First of all, whomever mailed the certificate didn't get the address right...just put a zip code with no town.. This made the certificate come after Christmas. Secondly to our surprise the certificate states you can't purchase alcohol with...

We have visited Claytons' twice now. It is the best spot to watch the fireworks at. The place is huge, and there has been live music both times that we have gone. When the fireworks are over take walk along the beach. Fabulous just Fabulous!

We had heard all the hype about this place and the only truth was the bar is on the beach. We went for lunch & the beach view and were terribly disappointed with the food and service. I ordered tacos and expected cheese on them but there was no cheese or any seasoning on them at all. I went to...

The deck is beautiful and huge, seating area is nice and drinks/beer/food are standard beach bar fare. The problem is that there are just too many people, not enough parking, not enough bartenders and the place doesn't quite know it's niche yet. We went for a recent concert and the logistics were terrible and the crowd obnoxious. For a place...

They are right on the beach with a great ocean view. The menu is limited but it good. The staff is friendly, albeit very busy. I was there in the late afternoon to evening hrs just after Spring Break and was better able to see their new expansion. It will almost double the already huge observation deck. Loved it.

This place is a huge venue with a nice stage and plenty of deck seating, as well as hundreds of feet of beachfront. This is a hip place with good drinks that aren't too expensive, and plenty of people watching. Nice bar area with plenty of staff so the lines are not bad, and they attract plenty of celebrities for...

If you like staying in places with a little character then this is a must stay. Lydia, the manager, is very friendly and helpful. We loved the place, but for us the noise level from the band next door was just too much (Fri til1pm, Sat til 2pm). But, Lydia was great and refunded us for our Saturday stay so...

Clayton's Resort is a cool touch of a bygone era (1950's), an iconic-looking property on the beach on South Padre Island. It's a small property with 10 rooms, reasonably priced, in a good location on the beach. Rooms are nice, bathrooms a memory of the past. Ours included original blue toilet and sink. Two things to be aware of: there...

Our family recently rented the entire resort for a reunion and it was great! The rooms are cute, some with original bathrooms and fixtures. My only complaint is the amount of traffic that cuts through the resort to get to the restaurant and beach. They need to gate the front entrance and have better security at the boardwalk gate. We...

“Room 6 is the large and very private with 2 queens beds and a sitting area. Room 1 is also very large with the only "view" of the beach- the deck is RIGHT THERE. Room 7 is small and new with a large walk-in shower.”

“I was in room #1 which is closest to the beach and has glass on two sides. It has a love seat and couch too.”
 of 5 bubbles Bradb1108, 20 Jun 2012 | Read review
“Room 1 and 11 have sitting areas and thus are larger. Room 1 has been updated and has a slightly better view of the Gulf, although the Bar and deck essentially block all the rooms. Room 11 is closer to the beach and the Bar, and probably a little quieter because a solid wall on the bar blocks some sound.”
