Lets face it, this hotel is an old nostalgic hotel that is over 100+ years old and yes, it needs work. Given that it was built out of wood and has survived all the hurricane, this is one tough hotel and I can imagine the cost to renovate it would be in the $mil. Kudos to the craftsmanship back then!...

"Charming" yes, however not worth the price. Even though it's not terribly expensive, what you get for what you pay doesn't add up. It is in need of some basic structural work...it would be possible to keep the charm with out it looking so run down. The owner was nice, but it didn't make up for everthing thing else. Staying...

situated on the sea front at Palacios with magnificent views across the bay This is an old fashioned wooden built hotel left over from 100 years ago. Yes it is a bit run down in places and it needs a bit of money and time spent on it, but it doesn't really matter because what it lacks in facilities it...

The owner is such a sweetheart and he gave us a room with an amazing view of the pier! I miss it so much and can't wait to go back! The house does need a little work but it was still an amazing stay. We felt like we slept on a cloud that night.

My wife and i stay at the Luther Hotel several times a year. We love the historical character of the hotel and always read the articles Jack has compiled. We love the photos of politicians, movie stars, local heroes that have stayed at the Luther. We also love to walk on the board walk which is just 50 yards away...

This is by far one of (if not THE) most comfortable hotels I've ever stayed in. We planned to stay one night but after we checked in my wife said we were staying two. Location is awesome as it is right across the street from the pier. The owner is incredibly friendly and talkative. The room reminded me of a...

We took our three kids to Palacios, TX, which is just a short drive from Houston. I expected the Luther Hotel to be a bit dated and that was true. The coastline in front of the hotel offers a beautiful view of the bay. We found the water clean and green. The hotel is up on cement blocks and is...

My trip was with my mother and two adult sisters. We stayed in a two bed room. We got there earlier than expected so the ac was off, don't do that. To no fault of the owner of course since we were the early ones and he didn't even have to let us check in. The room was hard to...

This place is just what a group of fishermen needed. A room across from the boat. This is a historical property, that has been kept as well as possible by the owner. It has not been updated. If you want nice, new, well appointed rooms and service, this place may disappoint you. Compared to places I have stayed on other...

Past reviewers have about said it all. This is a must stop for anyone interested in south Texas history. The hotel is showing its age in places but my room was large and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Jack is a wonderful host and took me on a short tour when I arrived to tell me some of...
