Stayed at DLC last weekend...seems like a decent park. Stayed in a pull through site #36 and we had plenty of room with our 45' 5th wheel. Site seemed to have had updated sewer and 50 amp service. Didn't get to hike due to rain all weekend but still enjoyed our stay. Saw the park host's several and they were...

The daughter and fiancée of close friends decided to rent the lodge at Double Lake for their wedding this past weekend. First, they had a terrible time getting ahold of the park ranger, as he only checks the phone once a day. He told them the rental fee for the building, and they agreed on a date. Invitations were sent...

We found this location on several places to camp around Houston and while it was hard to get much feel for what to expect, we gave it a try. We had a great time. I did laugh when I told my wife that it was one of the noisiest I have been to. But it wasn't the people, it was...

This was our first experience camping in a national forest campground. First off, the ranger(?) on duty and the camp host were great people; the host was very helpful. The park was clean; the restrooms and shower were serviceable, but not great; the sites were nice, very shady, and level. Now for the weird stuff. There were group sites at...

I was here with my kids as part of a large group that stayed in Group Campsite "I" for two nights. The natural setting is very nice with mature pines and a peaceful, though small lake (it was full during our visit) suitable for canoeing and fishing. There are several docks around the lake. All signs pointed to there not...

We were not so pleased with our sloped camping site for our camper, but the variety of trails made up for the sloping site. No view at all in the site we stayed in. Pretty sure we will go back again....definitely for the bike trails though.

Great place for a quick weekend getaway. Weather was really cold, but we had a great time nonetheless. Campsite 12 was spacious, and had a great view of the lake. Close to the bathrooms & water spigot as well. We hiked around the lake & the Lone Star Hiking Trail.

We went here last Summer as our first trip in our camper. Our spot was very tight, was angled the wrong way to back up in properly without hitting a tree, and was not level at all. I recommend a pull thru unless you are an expert at backing. I also recommend getting a spot with sewer hookup because the...

Pretty primitive. Bathroom had no working lights. We were the only campers so it was pretty freaky and dark and scary at night. Concession store closed. Nobody here. The campsite was clean and pretty and private. Lots of spiders and caterpillars and flies aplenty. I wouldn't swim in the "lake". It was low and i suspect had snakes living there....

I frequently use this park as a parking place when I get out on the lonestar trail. It can also be used as a drop off or pick up point from the Lonestar Trail. There usually isn´t anyone at the info station. You will have to fill out a card and pay at the auto pay box. There is a...

“We usually camp on the tent side (primative sites only, no electricity). Sites 17, 18 and 20 never fail to please! 14/16 or 8/9 are great if you are camping with a group and need adjoining sites.”

“On the tent camping side, you want to researve the higher numbered sites on the lake for better views. Some sites are right next to each other that if you have a large group going, you can easily setup between the two. Also less chance for upset neighbors as they are farther away!”
