Looks pretty but on closer inspection the walls are thin....you can hear everything through the walls, there are 2 pairs of earplugs in all rooms. This could also be due to the fact a loud train goes through a couple of times in the night. No-one on hand to really look after things like dry the wet seat covers at...

I'd agree that this place is super stylish, looks like an issue of Wallpaper magazine. The downside is that it's not especially warm and cozy. Poured concrete floors are cool in both senses of the word. Bathroom isn't fully separated, so you can hear everything another person is doing. The linens are nice. Toiletries are nice. I'd check the prices...

Would agree with the other reviews of the Thunderbird. It's a strip motel that's been quite stylishly updated to reflect the funky / artsy / Texas atmosphere that is Marfa. Beds and linens were very nice and comfortable, rooms had lots of space, good location for getting around the town, staff was friendly and helpful and there's a pool! Loved...

If you like the San Jose in Austin, you'll love the Thunderbird. Same old motel remodeled and Mod-ified, funky fun. Hey, it's Marfa! No luxury, but plenty of nice touches.

We stayed here with the family for one night. We where surprised with the cleanses, the treatment by the staff and how nice this old Motel remaned original and still very modern. If we come back to Marfa it will be difficult to choose between this place and the Paisano Hotel.

The Thunderbird is an old-style strip motel that’s been funkily updated in Marfa minimalism. The rooms have everything you need: comfie beds with decent linens and functional reading lights, lots of space, convenient baths with all amenities and lots of bare surfaces in the bath and main room areas for stashing your stuff. The parking area and loggia are nicely...

I stayed here with my girlfriend during a recent trip to Marfa TX. We arrived at 3:30 pm, to find the office closed with an "out to lunch" sign. We got checked in around 5pm. The room was on the first floor. It is a motel with an outdoor pool. We didn't use the pool, but it looked fine. The...

We stayed at the Thunderbird Hotel for two nights in April. It is what it is: an old motel refitted as retro-west-texas-chic. Still, it is a motel, which means it is located on a busy road that runs through Marfa with an active train track behind and the office and “lounge” located across the road. Clean rooms and comfortable beds....

A very nice motel, beautiful design, but we checked in very late and got the last room 29, groundfloor no window and next to the very loud ice machine. We couldn't get a change because there was no one at the front desk at 9pm any longer and only trough an emergency line someone turned the ice machine off for...

Went to Marfa and the Thunderbird on a driving trip from Houston to San Diego at the recommendation of Houston friends. Our friends had not been, but their reliance on a few rave reviews by the NY Times turned out to be well founded. We were greeted pleasantly in the hotel office after the 9.5 hour drive and offered cold...
