Beautiful place. It's not an island any more but still has a lake view and easy access. The amenities are great. We rented a condo directly from the owner, it had 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom with easy access to one of 3 pools. Beautiful landscape. The sunset is priceless.

My family stayed at The Island on Lake Travis and had a great time. It is somewhat isolated but close enough to town and other places where you do not have to drive a long distance. The grounds were well kept and the condo was very clean and somewhat up to date. (the beds in unit 1214 were showing there...

We visited the island for a weekend getaway and had a blast. Being out in the Texas Hill Country was nice and the drive out was very scenic. I will have to admit the resort is little out of the way and the grocery store is about 10 minutes both ways but this was what we were looking for, a...

The magic is gone all that is left is an island that has seen its better days long ago in Largo Vista. This confused retirement home does not know what it wants to be. But it will never be a resort. AT first glance the place looks like the Driscoe on Lake Travis but as you enter the structure it...

We stayed here for two nights, June 07,08. Our friend was getting married nearby and the whole wedding party stayed here. These are all privately owned condos. They all have kitchens and some are quite nice. Ours was less so. It had a balcony that overlooked the water but the hornets were nasty outside. The pull out couch was very...

The Island is a gorgeous condo complex on Lake Travis. The condo's are privately owned, so I can only comment on the particular one that we stayed in. The grounds are lovely, with groups of deer roaming around. There are three pools, a fitness center & a bar/restaurant. There were tons of kids for my son to play with. There...

We enjoyed our stay here, but it is quite isolated from dining & shopping. It also had a bit of a deserted feel to it as there didn't appear to be many guests. We enjoyed the pools and the grounds, and especially enjoyed the deer. Our room was clean and spacious and we liked the code entry on the doors...

My fiance and I stayed here for a weekend last summer. The condo we rented was very pretty and the grounds were well maintained. There are deer all over the grounds which I loved. I am very particular about where I stay and this place was wonderful. I am planning to come back this summer. You really won't find a better...

We stayed as a guest of a condo owner in building three on the first floor, facing the lake. The lake is very low, but was still quite a pretty view with the rocky sides and all. The unit itself was updated and immaculately clean. It was a small unit but perfect for our family of three. Many of these...

My wife and I stayed in one of the small studio condos, #1114, for the weekend of October 8th 2011. On the positive side, the rental price was fair for the unit except for the cleaning and booking fee. The grounds around the facility were well manicured and pretty, but the overall ambience was lacking, as there was no lake...

Dear Bathie2014

My name is Doug and I am the owner of North Shore Vacation Rentals. First because I did not see a unit number I was not sure if you rented through us or through a individual owner. But ether way you had made some great points and had some good questions. First you are correct...the lake is down over 50ft depend if you are talking normal level or full. If you rented from us I am not sure why my staff did not tell you that there are no boat ramps but limited places where you can launch your boat from a beach area, or check our website. Yes it does look weird that we could have so many slips and a treacherous way to get to these slips. The Condo owners association made a decision based on the home owners who keep their boats in the slips to build the long steps to get to their boats on the front of the island. Some use it some do not. Yes we rent the slips for 50.00 so if you find a place to put your boat into the lake it is a little easier to get to your boat rather then pulling in in and out of the less than favorable launches. Now for all the empty slips, the three boat houses with slips in the front part of the island are the ones we rent. The ones in the back part in the cove have not been commissioned by the COA so are unusable at this time even though you see some boats in them. As far as the pool being closed do to shocking I totally agree with you and they are normally done during the week...I am not sure why this happened. There was some repairs made on the south pool around the time you were there and after they resurfaced the bottom they had to shock the water. I believe that the north pool should have been opened and the indoor pool.

Again I am very sorry for your inconvenience with your boat. If you did get your boat in I hope you were lucky enough to find the great beach that has appeared with the low lake levels. It is across from Lakeway near Point Venture. The sand is soft like on the Caribbean and in the summer you would think you were in Port A with out all the salt and seaweed....and critters.

I hope this helps you under stand and hope you did enjoy yourself.
