We stayed in the Cynthia Chamber, a large room in the main house with a king size bed, and ensuite consisting of a small, separate water closet and a claw foot tub in the bedroom (which is not really suited for bathing because it is a little short). If you prefer, there is a second shared bathroom with a tub...

My husband works oil field so we bounce around a lot and I've stayed in many different places. Vera guest house is one of the most comfortable at home places I've stayed at by far. The owner Alex is very nice and helpful. The room was very clean and cozy. Big backyard with beautiful gold fish pond and bon fire...

We still like this place, but it was not clean this time. We stayed in the log house which was spacious but not as clean as it should have been. The proprietor is lovely, and still a good breakfast cook. It is an unusual spot for a decent stay so we think you should still check it out as an...

We appreciate your honest feedback regarding the cleanliness of the log cabin upon check-in. We have very high standards for those providing cleaning services for our establishment, and are very disappointed to learn that there were deficiencies in the services that were provided. We are truly sorry that your experience was less than perfect. If you had told us of...

We needed a place to stay during a road trip and showing up at the Vara Guest House after a long day of driving was the perfect retreat. Our room was super clean and comfortable, as was the rest of the home, and Alex and Cyndi were more than accommodating hosts. It felt like we were showing up at a...

Pleasantly surprised. A jewel in the middle of nowhere. Our hosts, Alex and Cyndi, were gracious and very hospitable. Our hosts were not intrusive. I felt as if I was staying at a family members home. Had full use of the kitchen. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Washer and dryer available for use. Great...

Vara Guest House is a jewel. I was welcomed by Alex who was very hospitable. He showed me around the house and all the amenities. It was wonderful to relax in their nicely decorated rooms and especially the great bathtub. Oh and the bathrobes, yes please! Hope to be back soon and stay longer.

I was on my way home from Santa Fe, NM on my motorcycle and had a flat tire in Garden City (a small town near Midland, Tx). With not knowing the area I was in a real bind. I stumbled upon this little bed and breakfast and called them up. The owner (Alex) was understanding of my situation and offered...

I stayed with Alex and Cyndi for 6 weeks, it was wonderful. They didn't just welcome me in as a customer, they went well out of their way to make me feel like family. Their home was warm, inviting, clean and very comfortable. Hot tub was hot, wifi is fast, beds are comfy, and their dogs are super friendly. If...

Vara Guest House is a very warm and welcoming lodging experience. Though I only stayed a couple days, I could easily stay in the hot tub a year. If you find yourself in garden city area, there isn't anywhere comparable. The atmosphere is homey ,yet classic. There is complimentary drinks, tea, snacks, etc. The owners of the house are genuine individuals who...

“I stayed in one of the smaller cabins in June. The cabin was quiet, it was tastefully decorated, it was clean, comfortable and the bed was great. :) If you're in the oil and gas business and need an extended stay, this would be an excellent choice if the drive was within reason. I found Vara Guest House to be a true gem in the West, Texas landscape.”
