My wife and I, and our adult son, shared a 2 bedroom apartment for 3 nights. The apartment was very well equipped and very roomy. This is an older block of apartments, but in a great position at Kings Beach. The block is very clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped, but there are plenty of restaurants with a short walk. Mark, the manager, is very laid back and extremely helpful.

We stayed for five nights at Casablanca Beachfront Apartments with my mother-in-law, husband and three children aged 6, 4 and 2. We booked a three bedroom apartment. The best part of this accommodation is that it's a self contained three bedroom roomy apartment (three storey apartment building) with small pool and BBQ facilities - but it would have to be in the best location possible. The apartment itself was old, and was in need of refurbishment. We were on the third floor, which involved quite a lot of stairs - no lift (so we had challenges with my 70 yo mother-in-law and smaller children) but it is situated just across the road from the beach, from all the playgrounds (like at least 6 brand new beach playgrounds), the play water fountain, the salt water beachside public pool (free), the superb Kings Beach and the Coloundra Surf Club which overlooks the beach and has great meals (and is kids friendly). It's also a short distance (under 5 minutes drive / 12 min walk) to Caloundra strip shopping which would have to be one of the best shopping strips I've ever encounted. It is also only 20 min drive from the Australia Zoo, and under half an hour to the Big Pineapple. If you have mobility issues/ small children, request a lower ground floor (but you may forgo water views) and expect an old apartment without airconditioning, but with fans, dishwasher, washing machine, and central bathroom with plenty of hot water - and of course situated beachfront in absolutely the best location possible.

The units are located on the beachfront which makes them very convenient.
Clean and well maintained and have a manager on site who can help organise food delivery by Coles or Woolworths.

Most are air conditioned but as they are individually owned you will get some that are not and also will get some maintained better then others - worth checking at booking time.

Apartment 21 was filthy- manager told us we were in the same apartment that our employee stayed in the week before- not true! I did discuss the state of the apartment with the manager and he continued to say our friends were the last people in there- they stayed in unit 22 which was clean. Bedspread and blankets were dirty. Filthy mat under the coffee table dust and dirt in both bedrooms including on curtains. Questionable marks on the bedroom walls.

While the location is in the immediate vicinity of eateries, park, the beach and the outside facilities appear attractive the interior of the unit was tired and dirty. We were escorted to unit 21 by the Male manager who pointed out and acknowledged that the lounge rug should be removed but it would do a little longer, he wasn't overly happy with the cleaners work on the stovetop and also pointed out to us that the bedroom curtain could do with a wash.... Ok, the rug in the loungeroom needed a good steamcleaning or replacement as although blue, it was more a scungy blue/grey colour There was a large coffee table which is filthy.. if you scratch with your fingernail all the black gunk comes off... the toilet brush receptacle lid is rusted and there was an amount of water retained in it... the master bedroom curtain has thick dust in the curtain folds up near the curtain rail... looks like it hasn't been cleaned for months... Shower had mould spots on the ceiling. This review should not be a surprise to managers as this was all pointed out on departure.

This complex is in a fantastic location, directly opposite the beach and very central for dining options. Unfortunately the unit we stayed in was dreadful. Staying in older accommodation doesn't worry us - we do it quite a lot to save $ - as long as it is clean and in a good state of repair, however this unit was neither. The carpet was stained, and the floors, kitchen benches and tables had a film of grease on them. The bed was extremely uncomfortable.

The manager was a nice enough guy, and the pool is quite nice but the grounds need attention.

We won't stay again.

We have just finished our annual 2 week holiday at Casablanca and love the place.
It is an older complex and while not 5 star our apartment was clean, comfy and spacious. I just find the older places have more space. Our son loved the pool area we used the BBQ area most days. We loved having the air conditioning this year. Casablanca has to have one of the best locations in Caloundra straight opposite the beach so no hills to climb. We keep coming back every year and recommend it to anyone particularly families.

Rooms are spacious, views of the ocean with a generous balcony, short walk to beach and restaurants. Great entertaining area plus basketball/tennis court. Best part is a friendly and helpful manager - welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.

Casablanca is a great place for a family holiday and so close to the beach and a well kept park just over the road for the kids to play. The apartments are spacious and well equipped with a functional kitchen that has plenty of plates and cutlery for up to 6 people.

The beds are comfortable and the furniture in good condition with a large flat screen TV in the lounge room and another TV in one of the bedrooms. A good selection of Foxtel programs was available.

Bathrooms are functional with a shower over the bath and a shower recess. A fully equipped laundry is included with a washing machine and dryer.

The swimming pool is very clean and has the added advantage of being heated so you can swim all year round. Clean BBQs are available for guests to use. There is a chalk board to reserve the BBQ if the resort is busy. There is also a tennis court for the kids to play on and racquets and balls are available at the resort.

Casablanca is close to 2 restaurants where you can get breakfast for $10.50 if you do not want to cook. The Naked Turtle restaurant also offers take away fish and chips and burgers which are well priced and of good quality.

The manager is very friendly and can help with tours. Undercover parking is provided.

We booked for 3 nights over the Australia Day long weekend and left after 2. Whilst the location is fantastic, the apartment lacked in comfort. It was tired and needed a paint job, new carpets and furniture. We stayed in number 24 and it was 5 degrees hotter inside than out. It was directly opposite a very noisy air conditioning unit for the hotel complex over the road that ran 24/7, and because you needed all windows open during the night to breath, it was very difficult to sleep. We woke up tired and cranky as a result. These apartments need aircondictioning units fitted retrospectively and double glazed tinted windows to not only keep out the noise, but also the neighbours. There were other units that look directly into these apartments and having to have the windows and blinds open just to breath, there is no privacy. Also the dirty clothes basket in the laundry was filthy - it looked like it hadn't been cleaned out for months. The pool whilst a great size was murky on both days. We won't be staying again and wouldn't recommend this accomodation provider.

Response from managerCaloundra, manager at Casablanca Beachfront Apartments
Responded 2 Mar 2010
We are not airconditioned and advise potential guests of this. All units do have ceiling fans. Kings beach has become a popular holiday destination and unfortunately privacy can be an issue anywhere that is popular. The particular unit has had new carpet and furnishings within the past 2 years and had a new kitchen in 2009. We meet stringent 3.5 star standards, Guests requiring 4-4.5 star accomodation need to book same.
