We stayed at here for a week and absolutely loved it. It’s a small resort with only 8 cabins which are very comfortable and clean. Comfortable bed, good air con, great bathroom. Such friendly staff including Helen who helped us with anything we needed, meals, drinks, taxi, drivers, tour tickets etc etc. it’s a quiet side of the island but the resort can arrange taxi or rental bike if you want to go to town. Well established and known bar Rory’s Bar only 3km up the road. We had great view of the water and fishermen and boats from our balcony. The pool was great and we wishes the weather was a bit better to enjoy it more, but even when it rained, the atmosphere was lovely. At night the place is lit up and was so nice and relaxing. And if you’re an animal lover, there’s a special little dog named Lucky who, after he gets to know you, loves his cuddles ! We would 100% stay here again, and recommend it to others.

Book this resort!!!
We stayed here with a family of four.
It was absolutely fantastic…🥰
The hospitality of this family owned resort is top notch!! Everything was super!! The view, swimming pool, the huts, everything super clean and new,….
Also the food! Mmmmmmmmm
If you are lucky you’ll be asked to even go fishing with them, and then they cook the fish on the bbq….
Just a fantastic experience 🙏🏼❤️

Stayed in a bungalow right on the beach it was fantastic with views across the straight to Cambodia. Pool is awesome, food at the resort is A+ & they rent motorbikes for 150k (about $9 AUD) per day. It is a fantastic place to chill and relax. Resort is family run & the family is super friendly. Nyny (prounounced ni-ni I believe) speaks English very well & is very helpful. Wifi is OK but be aware rooms don't have a TV. It's fine with me but some may have issues (particularly while the world cup is on).
This is the quiet side of the island so if you are looking for party central probably give it a miss - but if you are looking to unwind then you have found the right place :)

My wife and I had a lovely stay here. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. There was a taxi shortage while we were there but they were always able to help us to book something, even driving us themselves sometimes.

Our room was very comfortable and surprisingly private. The food was really nice and the dogs were especially friendly!

It is a little remote, which is both a positive (you really can be alone with just the ocean breeze) but also a negative (travelling to and from does require planning)

My only criticism is that the private beach is more a giant sandpit and we weren't able to swim in the sea. It was still a comfortable and nice area, but not 100% what we thought we'd be getting.

We only ate here. We were staying up the road and ate here as much as we could. Amazing service. Delicious food. It’s a wonderful spot - they have created a lovely space as well. We did not see rooms but the service of their restaurant speaks volumes.

The resort is super beautiful. I enjoy everything here from the garden, the beach, the bungalow to the food, and the services. I was so excited to see the starfish here. The host and the staff are so friendly and supportive. Definitely gonna come back on Lunar New Year!

Lily and the rest of the staff at Cay Sao Beach Resort are amazing!!! Definitely worth staying here on the east side of Phu Quoc away from the crazy tourist/resort areas on the west side of the island.

The resort is beautiful and very relaxing with options to swim in the crystal clear and pristine pool or access to the ocean. There are plenty of hammock and lounge chairs to relax and read a book or a badminton 🏸 area to get a leisurely game in.

The resort restaurant is outstanding! The chef is amazing working in the open kitchen where you can see her and her helpers cook up wonderful Vietnamese and western dishes. The iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk is probably the best I’ve had in Vietnam.

The staff takes pride in what they have built here in the last few months (it’s relatively new) and it shows in the landscape and hospitality. Lily set us up with a motorbike rental and made our stay here very enjoyable. The resort is also eco-friendly and makes sure their practices are sustainable by use of paper straws, non white linens and reusable water pitchers for the rooms. We appreciate the great sense of detail when it comes to saving the environment!

We can’t wait to stay here again the next time we are in Phu Quoc. If you’re wanting something close to the main touristy area don’t stay here, but you’ll regret it if you don’t escape the hustle and bustle and stay at Cay Sao Beach Resort! We really enjoyed our time here! Thank you!

This place is an oasis. It is small, quiet and well maintained. The houses are so lovely and it is never crowded. You can take a swim in the pool or just relax on a hammock in the sand. It is far away from all the party chaos. The food was delicious. Our host Lily was an absolutely amazing sweetheart.
