A once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip. We stayed in an immaculately decorated cabin on the river with a main living area, veranda overlooking the river and the jungle, 2 bedrooms with separate bathrooms. It had all the amenities you would expect -- lots of water provided in glass bottles, a bar fridge stocked with beer, wine, pop etc., a 2-burner stove...

A lovely get a way at a beautiful lodge located in the pine forest. It would be enough to just enjoy the grounds, beautiful rooms and fresh food, but don't forget to discover the wonders of the area. The guide service that is used has excellent guides to take you to Mayan ruins, local swimming spots, caves and if your...

I just posted our long overdue review of Turtle Inn, where our family of five stayed when Hurricane Earl turned towards Belize last summer. We evacuated to Blancaneaux, and it turned out to be serendipitous -- We adored Blancaneaux. The August weather was lovely, there was a jungle - Swiss family Robinson feel, and we had a fabulous time. Bear...

Everyone should know what an amazing place Blancaneaux is, and when paired with its sister property Turtle Inn you really get the best of both worlds. I recently got back from a 5 day trip with my 16 yr-old daughter over her spring break week, and we had such a fabulous time, I’ll treasure it the rest of my life....

My wife and I just got back from staying at this hotel in Belize. It was unbelievable. We hiked to big rock falls, we did a cave tour, we went over to Tikal in Guatamala. The lodge arranged everything for us, transportation and guides. The guides we got at each of our tours were very enthusiastic about the culture and...

We stayed at Blancaneaux Lodge for two nights as part of a Backroads family tour. Our two teenage children were as enamored with the peaceful beauty as we were. It was cool at night in the treetops (no air conditioning necessary) and the nearby rushing stream that powers the hotel lulled me to sleep. My two favorite luxuries were the...

We just returned from 3 nights at Blancaneaux Lodge. The restaurant service was perfect (thanks Pedro and Johnny) as was the food. We were particularly impressed that our room was refreshed every time we left the room. The setting was perfect, peaceful and a wonderful retreat from the snow. I wish we had stayed longer. Thanks to everyone at the...

It is very rare for a resort to be able to combine the rustic, luxury, nature and comfort all in one. The Blancaneaux (and its sister Belize location, Turtle Inn) easily achieves this high bar. Every experience in this small, private Lodge caters to the guests regardless of interest. We came here with our family, 11 years after our first...

We had visited Blanceneaux 13 years ago after first sailing in Placencia and then driving to Blanceneaux. It was beautiful then...but even better now. This trip was part of the the Coppola Safari where we visited La Lancha in Guatemala (nice...but not like this resort). We finished the tour at Turtle Inn on the beach in Placencia. They are all...

Blancaneaux Lodge was perfection in every way. The setting in the jungle alongside a small river is stunning. The grounds are lovely without being overly manicured. We stayed in a large casita decorated with Guatemalan textiles and carvings and which included our own very private pool where we would sit at dusk and listen to and watch the melodious blackbirds...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the early 1980s, Francis Ford Coppola visited Belize, immediately fell in love with the location, and purchased the abandoned Blancaneaux Lodge. For more than a decade the resort was used as a family retreat before Francis opened his tropical paradise to the public in 1993. Tucked away in a pocket of the Maya Mountains, Blancaneaux Lodge is a 20-room luxury resort where waterfalls tumble into turquoise pools above the jungle canopy. Its remote mountain setting makes it a perfect place to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. ... more   less
