The Hampton Inn Nashville/Vanderbilt receives mixed feedback; while its prime location garners appreciation from guests for its proximity to attractions and dining, the hotel's cleanliness and state of repair are frequently called into question, with dirty carpets and maintenance issues being common grievances. The service and amenities have disappointed many, with reports of unhelpful staff and inadequate in-room provisions. Guests find the atmosphere functional but lacking charm, and the value proposition is often criticized, with the experience not aligning with the room rates.

If you're going to anything near Vanderbilt University, this hotel is perfect. I attended a workshop at The Graduate across the street.
A quick taxi ride takes you downtown. You could walk, too, in about a half hour.
The staff is warm and welcoming, and the breakfast buffet has many choices.

Overall, great hotel and staff are wonderful. The trees provide adequate shaded parking which is nice and I like the window roll down shades.
Suggestions:
Really bad bathroom ceiling stains/peeled paint and dead bugs in the light fixture. Also, the shower rod is sagging and the stall chrome handle is loose. Bath towels could be larger and softer. Tub drains slowly, so standing in nearly 2 inches of water as I shower. Rusty toilet fastening bolts showing.
Hotel room doors automatically slam really hard and are noisy, in fact whenever any guest lets their door slam like that, which is very often, my door rattles. At one point the maids were sanitizing the rooms and I counted an average 25+ slams per hour.
Dismayed to not be able to watch netlfix on the TV as it is not a smart tv and has no google chromecast capabilities
The grab n go breakfast is nice, but when I came down at 8am, there was no milk for the cereal, or sausage biscuits left. Freezer portion of mini fridge non functional.
The room clock is 10 minutes fast with no apparent way of adjusting the time. Also, all the lamp bulbs are very bright, it would be nice to have at least one night light or a dimmer switch.
Laptop could not login to wifi as it had a constant error message, had to call tech support so they could manually add me.
Bed platform is creaky. Thermostat "Change Filter" light is flashing. Trash can so small it filled immediately, larger cans with a few extra bags would be great.
When you walk in the room you don't see the pictures on the wall, they are on the side wall next to the mirror and the wall facing the window, I think they need to be over the sofa area. Covering the rough coat wall texture would be a good thing.
thank you

I was traveling to Nashville with my family and I was thinking a Hampton Inn is normally a half decent hotel. I was wrong about this one. The staff were good, but the facility needs serious updating. The building is crappy surrounded by the modern high rise buildings of downtown Nashville. The hotel was the shortest building around and it was dirty. Whenever I would close a cabinet on a piece of furniture it would shake and I thought it was going to collapse. The room had a popcorn ceiling and I’m only 5’ 6” and 13 years old and I could touch the ceiling without standing on my toes. The air condition system was quite loud and the beds were uncomfortable so it took me two hours to fall asleep every night. The TV was a little dated, but it was at least functional. The bathroom was not that nice, the washcloths were nice but there was mildew on the floor of the shower. The shower head was very nice though, it had different settings to give you a massage. Overall there was a weird smell in the room, not to be sensitive, but the smell gave me a headache. Even though we stayed in November the pool was still open and it looked pretty nice. The lobby is small but it is decent. It has a nice sitting area. I would give this 5 stars on the location, 2.5 stars on the room and 2.5 stars on the building overall.

My mom and I stayed at this hotel because it was close to Vanderbilt since we were in the area for an appointment. There were some eating places in the area that were in walking distance which was nice if you wanted to get out and walk around. The pool was open, was well as the fitness center, and they did serve breakfast as well. We did utilize the fitness center, and they did have some towels to use during your workout, however they were out of sanitizing wipes to wipe down the equipment before and after using them. One of the treadmills that I tried the speed wouldn't go past 1.0 .The room we had was nice, but a little dated and you could definitely tell that there were some dinks on the wood on the sink vanity in the bathroom and there were a couple of strips of blue painters tape on the top corner of our bathroom mirror, and you could definitely tell that inside the closet there was some water damage to the back wall at the bottom of the closet in our room. The place were we had breakfast was in the basement along with the fitness center and the guest laundry. At this particular property there is a $20 a day fee for parking. The hotel did offer a shuttle that went within a two mile radius of the hotel which we had utilized. Unfortunately the gentleman that was our driver during our visit was unprofessional by being on his phone talking the entire time of our ride to our destination, and when he came to pick us up he didn't come to the correct entrance after we called him the first time to pick us up, and we in turn waited an hour. On our way back to the hotel there was a couple sitting in front of us and she asked him a question about a local university and he responded to her very sharply to her. The ladies at the desk were nice and Brittany was definitely helpful when we checked out as well as the manager Ryan when we had informed him about the shuttle driver.

We stayed here for New Year's Eve, and our main concern was staying somewhere within walking distance of all of the bars like Tootsie's and Kid Rock's. Also somewhere that offered free parking. This Hampton offers a freee shuttle service until 11:00PM, and I'm not sure why we never used it.
We arrived on 12/30 and that evening we walked to the bars, which was a pretty good walk. Lots of others walking, as well. We used an Uber to get back to our room and it only cost about $7. Did the same thing on New Year's Eve. On New Year's Day we decided to try the Bird scooters and loved them.
We were surprised how nice the room was for the price, and the staff was also very helpful and friendly. We will be definitely be satying here again!!

On behalf of my team, I would like to sincerely thank you for your time in dropping the TripAdvisor community a review of your experience. New Year’s Eve is certainly a lively time in Nashville full of energy, and I’m glad you decided to spend with us. Did you know Kid Rock had impromptu mini-concert at his bar/restaurant on Broadway on NYE! Quite the experience, for sure! Come back a see us again! The many reviews for this hotel are accurate today 1/1/2020 and we believe it will hold true through our departure Saturday.- we checked in last night- it was fast and our room was very clean with no problems; Even though it was new years in Nashville, the Hotel room floor we were on was entirely sold out and relatively quiet. They served a varied breakfast buffet though the yogurt is terrible tasted old and nearly room temperature and a strange type of Dannon- because local restaurants weren't open until about 11:00 AM this could have become a problem. Two fine restaurants with moderate prices are across the street (1) Ruth's Chris Steak House and (2) Americos (fine Italian); We will return. The staff is courteous and pleasant to everyone.

The Vanderbilt hampton inn was located very well for using the public transportation in Nashville. The bus stop was just outside the front door. Travel to from attractions was very easy. The restaurant across the street was excellent.

This is the fourth year that we have stayed at this hotel. This year we stayed two nights as we wanted to take in the music scene in Nashville. This is a very nice hotel that has very comfortable rooms and beds, higher and amenities and excellent service. The breakfast buffet is complementary and one of the best breakfast I’ve ever seen in a hotel. There is on-site parking and they offer a free shuttle that will go anywhere that’s within 2 miles radius of the hotel. We use the hotel shuttle every year to go down on Broadway Street to take in the music scene and visit the bars and restaurants. The hotel does have an outdoor pool but we are never there at a time when that is open.

Dingy and outdated. Toilet wobbled, dim lighting some outlets did not work and the noise is terrible. They also charge $20 for parking and it’s extremely difficult to get out of the 1 entrance/exit they have. Because of the location it’s hard to see oncoming traffic when exiting. The only positive thing I would say is the bed was comfortable.Avoid if possible
