We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. Starting with the location, great golf course right next door - tick! However it is at the end of a large housing estate and really in the middle of nowhere in terms of proximity to town and other attractions. Car park located some distance away from the rooms etc.. and no dedicated parking for paying guests. The reception staff were pleasant on check-in, but failed to give any information about amenities, breakfast, transport etc... There is also no brochures, folder or board with daily activities within view or in the rooms. Apparently the information on the facilities at the resort is on the tv's in the rooms, however when you select that option, you then need to scan a barcode - not smart if you are trying to upsell and promote additional services such as spa deals etc.. When we entered our room, it was apparent that someone had been in there before us, possibly to use the toilet as the hand towel had been used and placed beside the basin! There was also a dirty wipe on one of the bench tops and the bed appeared to have been sat on, so not a great start. We decided to have lunch in the restaurant, the menu was quite good, however again it was obvious that further staff training was required, we barely got service and our initial order taken let alone being offered a second drink, coffee or dessert options. We requested the local club shuttle booking for that evening in order to go out for dinner in nearby Mulwala which the reception staff advised they had booked for 5.30pm. When we arrived at reception to await the shuttle pick up, we were informed that it had not been booked and that the next available shuttle would not be until 7pm. Not strictly the resort staffs fault, but if the shuttle was not available at our preferred time, it would have been courteous of the reception staff to inform us earlier with a call to the room or message to our mobile which was on file. It begs the question why the Sebel does not provide their own courtesy transport for guests considering the location so far from town. Understandably this location is very popular with groups of golfers for weekend boys/girls golf trips away and of course thirsty golfers like to congregate around the bar of an evening. The current bar layout and lack of wait staff taking drink orders other than over the bar, means you have to navigate through the bunch of not so sober guests later in the evening to actually get some space at the bar to order a drink if you're game! Overall a nice location and hotel, definitely not 5 star and in need of an uplift to staff training and amenities !

Stayed for 4 nights at the end of April, booked a 1 bedroom apartment. The room is well set up, we had the accessible room on level 3 (310) so it had the open shower.

The view from the balcony over lake mulwala was amazing. The balcony walls and ceiling needs a good clean with cobwebs everywhere. There were also cobwebs over some of the light fittings in the hallway on level 3.

I am gold accor member, at check in there was no acknowledgment of this or a welcome letter. We were not offered a room upgrade but did get a welcome gift in the room 3 small prepackaged slices, this would have to be the worst welcome gift from an Accor hotel.

Breakfast at the restaurant was ok, one morning 3 or 4 of the wait staff standing around talking not taking orders from waiting guests.

We ordered the same breakfast all 4 days but each morning it was plated different depending on the chef.

The hotel has so much potential, the management need to step up and lead the staff.

A disappointing experience overall.
Just finding reception was a chore in itself. Better/bigger signage would be appreciated. A small sign next to what looks like a wall but is actually a sliding door isn't helpful.
The room was pretty good and despite the wind the outlook to the lake was soothing.
Unfortunately the chairs provided outdoor were extremely dirty. I can understand if this was fresh bird dropping but these were ingrained into the fabric and the chairs looked as if they hadn't seen a cloth in months.
Most disappointing for my wife was the lack of a decent coffee machine. We have paid half of what we paid here for accommodation in other places and a coffee pod machine was always provided, with plenty of pods. Small things like that elevate the user experience.
Ate at the Stock & Barrel and the food was bland, tasteless. Unfortunate as I had a recommendation from a local to try it out. Expensive for what it was. Was going to have a $20 Glennfidich 18 year at the end old but decided against it after the disappointment of the meal.
We won't be back and I honestly couldn't recommend the Sebel to anyone.

We stayed here as part of a large tour group and were most impressed with the staff, room and amenities.
We had a ground floor room overlooking the lake and it had all the facilities we needed.
Being part of a large group, we did not eat in the main restaurant but in a separate function room, so I can’t comment on the food itself, but the menu offered a great choice of meals.
Certainly on the list for a future visit.

We have just returned from 9 nights at the Sebel Yarrawonga and we honestly can't speak highly enough of the hotel and the staff.

The facilities have all been thought out very well and the infinity pool is incredibly crisp and clean and large enough for the number of guests staying at the property. The seating around the pool has also been thought through as there is plenty of seating which takes away the stress of other hotels and fighting for a lounge.

The gym has the latest state-of-art equipment and is significantly larger than other hotel gyms and is full air conditioned with a tv screen to watch while working out. There is also a high-end day spa on site.

The restaurant uses superb produce and is reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food provided and we barely ate out as there was plenty on offer. They also offer room service to your room or balcony if you don't want to sit in the restaurant.

The accommodation once again has been carefully considered with a mini kitchenette and sink in the standard rooms, plenty of space and the interiors decorated absolutely beautifully.

The staff are what we personally believe made the trip, the trip it was. They are accommodating, hard working, efficient and kind and although there were significant staff shortages they all supported each other and worked really hard to ensure the guests were having a great experience. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Often we would see the General Manager or the management team serving breakfast or working behind the pool bar which is a testament to how hands on the team are and how they do anything to get the job done.

We are already booking for next year after our incredible experience and we really encourage you to go and stay at the Sebel Yarrawonga, you will have an incredible experience, you will come home refreshed, relaxed and recharged.

Absolutely loved staying at the Sebel. Our first stay here, but we have been very regular travelers to Yarrawonga/Mulwala for decades.
Completely relaxing, excellent amenities. Rooms we modern and clean (little dusty). Daily housekeeping were fantastic, as were the restaurant staff.
Kids enjoyed the infinity pool overlooking the lake.
Our family stayed in interconnecting lake view studio rooms, comfy beds, spacious bathrooms. TVs had chrome cast so we could watch whatever we could at home. Fabulous grass area to sit and relax or for kids to play out the front try not of the rooms.
Little far out to walk to town but there is no other accommodation like this in the area in terms of quality.

We don’t play golf, but resort is right on the Black Bull Golf course. Kids could utilize the tennis court and basketball ring with equipment from reception which was great.

Pool bar seemed a little understaffed at different times as drinks took a while (like everywhere). Pool towels ran out one day which wasnt ideal. Also pool staff need to be much stricter at allowing people to secure sun lounges / couches, etc. and disappearing for huge parts of the days. This was a big issue that seemingly went ignored by staff which made for many frustrated guests. A well published, enforced policy on this would be very helpful.

Ate at the restaurant daily for breakfast and a couple of dinners and all meals were of an excellent standard. Great coffee at breakfast too.

The only slight disappointment with breakfast was that if you wanted to be seated outside, you could only order from a limited menu, which meant we had to sit inside every morning. I feel like offering this flexibility to in-house guests should be considered.

The lack of boat parking, considering the location and that boating is what drives many to the area, seemed an oversight. We were lucky to have alternate arrangements, but I could see this as inconvenient for others.

All in all an excellent stay and an asset to the area. Have re-booked and look forward to returning.

Very poor experience at the Sebel Yarrawonga. Room was very nice with an excellent view of the lake, although there was a surprising amount of noise from nearby rooms. Perhaps problems with noise insulation? The real problem was service in the bistro. Disappointing that the proper restaurant ‘Elizabeths’ is no longer open, but the service at ‘Stock and Barrel’ on the Saturday night was terrible. Our wine arrived after entree with our waitress advising that she found it ‘difficult’ to open wine bottles with a cork. My wife’s main was never delivered ( she was ultimately provided a meal free of charge but some 30 minutes after I had eaten mine). To finish the experience , we were then overcharged $40 for the wine and $10 for another dish! When I asked to discuss this with the restaurant manager, I was told that this was not possible as she was busy! Finally resolved but a very poor experience.

The bistro service problem is a pity as we also experienced great service from other staff, particularly the front desk.

We also had problems with the booking process via booking.com ( caused by Sebel, not booking.com) as a consequence of Sebel attempting to impose conditions contrary to what was listed. Finally resolved, but again a poor experience.

We have just spent 4 nights at the Sebel Yarrawonga , it is the best hotel resort in Victoria , absolutely stunning views with the lake surrounding hotel , beautiful ground great pool & the room was lovely . However the restaurant needs improvement , the food is average in fact we had some meals that weren’t great & wasn’t eaten & staff shoujd ask is everything ok with your meal & offer something else after all the meals weren’t cheap . We are Accor members & the Accor card at the restaurant was a nightmare always a problem with the wrong discount applied the. We had to correct the amount get refunded the pay again . There weren’t many staff members that knew what was going on .

I will definitely be back & hopefully restaurant will be improved by our next visit

I will divide this up into the good And the bad.
The Good No Great
The position beside the lake is really fantastic, the design of the hotel has been well done . The food cooked by a couple of really good chefs well I had a steak on the first night which was cooked as I asked rare so good along with all our other meals. The layout of the inside dining area along with the outside area is a welcome area. I am not a person the really likes a pool but this place has a great layout with a bar staffed again by locals but they would beat hands down any bar staff around.
I will not name any of the team as they all did a great job , when you arrive in the dining areas always greeted with a smile BUT always book as it is very popular with guests and locals alike.I must mention one of the managers who leads by example with Adrian jumping in when it was busy or just helping well done.
One must remember that this place has only been open since Middle of November 2020 amazing.
The rooms are well appointed with all your needs covered so you could if you want stay in cooking washing including clothes. The rooms are very quiet with a fantastic housekeeping team we stayed in 311 for 5 nights looking over the lake.
The NOT SO GOOD
The drop off point for arrival is a distant from reception also the parking area is shared with golf club, however I understand that this design was driven by council requirements.
Please have a look at the prices for wine & beer the prices are high almost Melbourne pricing or perhaps have some special deals for in-house guests.
I mentioned 1 manager who was seen out and about sadly the rest of the management team office bound, also at one breakfast a team of local lawyers had a debriefing beside us as we ate not on go into one of the many free areas or rooms.
At checkout it did take a while to get out so please have a drop off area or for Accor Diamond members a quicker checkout system.

The overall presentations good with the place cleaned and cleaned because of the virus.
Yes I have listed so small issues but all I can say is we have booked again

We have just stayed for 5 nights and had a very good time, apart from a couple of little hiccups. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment on the top(3rd) floor, overlooking the lake, which was great. The bedrooms are quite small but adequate and the sitting/kitchen area is well-designed with a full oven and hot plate, a dishwasher and great fridge/freezer- separate. Good balcony with a table for 6. Beds comfortable, also a washer/dryer which was useful.
The bistro is open but not the fine dining restaurant yet which we would have loved, but maybe when we return...
The staff are mostly local and very knowledgeable about the area and pointed us in the direction of some really good spots-food! I would like to make mention of Shirley and Debra who run the restaurant so, so we’ll, and Dev, Madison, Anna, Jessica, Shelley, Jack and anyone I have forgotten, sorry, as well as Adrian and the chefs for our amazing food. Also the housekeepers who do such a thankless job, thank you.
We cannot wait to come back and see how you have progressed and how the young swan family is going.
