Room clean, tidy and comfortable but a long walk from car park. We were in the furtherst room from reception which also meant wifi useless and free movies (streamed) useless. Wine tasting with Odi? was 10 out of 10. Meal at restaurant was very special (food) but spoiled by a conference of tools who thought having a trivia night in a fine dining restaurant was a good idea. They were on a big table, maybe 4 metres away, but during their selfish game, a team cam and sat on a small table within 1 metre of our table, to seperate themselves from the other teams. Very annoying and thought we must have been in sime inner suburban pub.

Hotel's Favourite
Amazing food and wine to complement. The restaurant is sensational with a lovely outlook across the Yarra Valley. Staff are welcoming and provided expert advice on the house wines. The Balgownie Black Label Pinot Noir was particularly memorable. Ryan, and Izzy were attentive and made this a special occasion. One of the best places to eat in the Valley.

Thank you so much for your review! The Balgownie team are thrilled that you had such a wonderful dining experience. The Black Label Pinot Noir is a very enjoyable drop at the moment. Next time, we recommend our limited edition Macedon Pinot Noir. Will be sure to thank Ryan and Izzy for delivering on our trademark Balgownie hospitality! We look forward to you dining with us again soon.

We were really looking forward to dining with you. Service was extremely slow - an hour to wait for a meal is just simply unacceptable. The drinks waiter had hands covered in filth. Although it was nicely presented, my pork terrine was dry and tasted of fish. My daughter had what can best be described as pasta with jar sauce and a bit of crumbly cheese. 200g steak far from weight and served with a wilted spring onion and very overcooked polenta chips. So disappointed.

We booked three nights after easter and the only rooms available were the spa suites. We opted to pay a little extra for a higher floor and hoping for a vineyard view but ended up getting a car park view. In the distance though we could see the ranges. Rooms are comfortable and quite roomy with a kitchenette but no cooking facilities other than a microwave. Spa did get some use. Nespresso machine was great for the early morning cuppa sitting on the balcony. A few negatives. Housekeeping kept providing one washer despite there being two guests and us pointing this out on several occasions. We enjoyed the onsite restaurant as well as the onsite tastings. It was great to not have to drive and hotel guests receive a complimentary wine tasting with their room package. However whilst Odea and Jenny offered great service at the cellar door the same couldnt be said for Roman. Quite gruff and didnt allow us entry into the cellar door. Not sure he is a person who should be involved in customer service. The onsite restaurant is very good and a must visit if a guest. Book in advance as they were fully booked on a weekday the day we dined here. I would certainly come back to this lovely winery and they are not farfrom getting 5 star review from me.

Thank you for your feedback. Amenities in our rooms do vary. A full kitchen is available in our Directors Suite. Mini kitchenettes in our standard spa suites. Have passed your feedback on to our housekeeping team in relation to your face washers (most likely supply chain issues with our towel and linen services). We will be sure to congratulate Oday and Jenny on their contributions to your stay in Cellar Door. Restaurant 1309 is in hot demand. We highly recommend all our guests book ahead to avoid disappointment. The alternative is in room dining (dinner) if you are staying with us. We look forward to you visiting us again soon.
