The rooms and furniture are old style but are comfortable. Noise does intrude into the room but was not too bad for a Monday night. Car parking in the dirt patch at the back of the Hotel is a bit tight for space.
A basic continental breakfast (no fruit) was included.
The staff are friendly and the restaurant offers a varied menu for both dinner and breakfast.
We stayed for a long weekend in September 2023 to accommodate our large family staying for my sons wedding in the area.
The accommodation was terrific and catered for all family members with the separate Managers House perfect for families, and the balcony rooms grouped around the upstairs balcony, perfect for chats with a lovely leafy view.
The rooms are substantial with lovely outlooks and comfortable beds. The Tower suite has amazing views of the district, over 3 levels!
The ambiance of the entire hotel is lovely with amazing decor throughout, and caters to all interests. Whether it be friendly pool competitions in the front bar, afternoon tea in the tea rooms, playground entertainment, watching the footy on the big screen, or watching the world go by from the front balcony.
Excellent coffees and fresh pastries were enjoyed with breakfast.
Great food and service!
A brilliant location in the Yarra Valley!
Our room was of good size, but, we could hear the conversation in the room adjacent, the shower was dangerous to enter and exit, cracked tiles to the entrance to the bathroom, lighting poor and the carpet needed stretching. The off road carpark was a dirt and dusty surface, there was no lighting to the side security entrance after-hours, and the door mat at the side door entrance a ladies heel catcher.
The staff and management were very friendly.
Each room was different and they had the feel of a country pub. Our room appeared to have been freshly painted and the bedding seemed new. The bathroom tiles and shower over the bath were dated but clean.
The pub was bustling and packed to the brim on both the Friday and Saturday night when we stayed. There was also live music and joyous singalongs, but the music and pub quietened down around midnight. There was a landing upstairs near our rooms with two couches and a coffee table, perfect for us to play cards and share a nightcap.
It pays to order food as early and possible, get some drinks and wait for the food to arrive. We found the food to be good classic pub meals with generous serves.
Great location for using as a base to visit wineries via uber or taxi.
Whilst the linen and towels were spotless the rest of the “premium room” was in need of a good makeover .
The bed was very soft so no good for our aches and pains.
Luckily they provided ear plugs and insect spray - for good reason.
The staff were welcoming and pleasant to deal with.
Hopefully they survive COVID and can return to the GRAND old days.
