No complaints about our room. However, the noise below our room was constant. Our room was located above the beer garden, and we had noise from patrons below. Also, there must be a refrigerated unit or similar in this area, as there was a constant drone of a motor the whole time. Probably explains why ear plugs were offered in the room!! IF you are planning on staying here, I would not book a suite or premier room above the public areas downstairs. Further, whilst this was a fault on our part that there we didn't realise there was no lifts owing to the age of the building, there was no immediate offer of assistance for help with our bags up 2 flights of stairs. We did have an offer from two young women, but we didn't feel it right for them to do this when there were strapping young lad who could easily have helped out. If you have to ask for help with suitcases when you are nearing 80 years of age I think it is a terrible reflection on the part of management. An offer of assistance would be greatly appreciated by your older guests when taking suitcases up 2 flights of stairs.

My wife and I paid extra to stay in a 45 square metres one bedroom suite with a separate lounge and a shared balcony during our recent holiday in Yarra Valley.

The rooms and furniture are old style but are comfortable. Noise does intrude into the room but was not too bad for a Monday night. Car parking in the dirt patch at the back of the Hotel is a bit tight for space.

A basic continental breakfast (no fruit) was included.

This Heritage listed hotel built in 1888 provides good old world accommodation in the Yarra Valley region. It is a great base from which to explore the many attractions on offer.
The staff are friendly and the restaurant offers a varied menu for both dinner and breakfast.

I apologize for this delayed review, as we had a fabulous time here! Our Hosts and staff were brilliant and so accommodating from beginning to end!

We stayed for a long weekend in September 2023 to accommodate our large family staying for my sons wedding in the area.

The accommodation was terrific and catered for all family members with the separate Managers House perfect for families, and the balcony rooms grouped around the upstairs balcony, perfect for chats with a lovely leafy view.

The rooms are substantial with lovely outlooks and comfortable beds. The Tower suite has amazing views of the district, over 3 levels!

The ambiance of the entire hotel is lovely with amazing decor throughout, and caters to all interests. Whether it be friendly pool competitions in the front bar, afternoon tea in the tea rooms, playground entertainment, watching the footy on the big screen, or watching the world go by from the front balcony.
Excellent coffees and fresh pastries were enjoyed with breakfast.
Great food and service!

A brilliant location in the Yarra Valley!

The experience could be summed up thus: "let me know when the the establishment is fully renovated, and then being as it may the prices are still the same, I will be back".
Our room was of good size, but, we could hear the conversation in the room adjacent, the shower was dangerous to enter and exit, cracked tiles to the entrance to the bathroom, lighting poor and the carpet needed stretching. The off road carpark was a dirt and dusty surface, there was no lighting to the side security entrance after-hours, and the door mat at the side door entrance a ladies heel catcher.
The staff and management were very friendly.

Stayed at this heritage listed hotel for five nights and really enjoyed the surroundings. Staff could not have been more helpful, special mention to Joel the Manager. My husband was sick and he went out of his way to help us. Food was tasty pub food and has a great atmosphere, live music on Friday nights. This place has original patina but it's all part of the charm. Central for sightseeing a beautiful area and vineyards.

Sadly it was nothing short of terrible. It took one and a half hours to get our food, the chicken parma was overcooked, dry and certainly not worth the wait. Other meals on our table were average to reasonable at best. Cleaning away plates and empty glasses was very slow. Disappointing, very disappointing.

Six of us stayed in three rooms here in April.
Each room was different and they had the feel of a country pub. Our room appeared to have been freshly painted and the bedding seemed new. The bathroom tiles and shower over the bath were dated but clean.
The pub was bustling and packed to the brim on both the Friday and Saturday night when we stayed. There was also live music and joyous singalongs, but the music and pub quietened down around midnight. There was a landing upstairs near our rooms with two couches and a coffee table, perfect for us to play cards and share a nightcap.
It pays to order food as early and possible, get some drinks and wait for the food to arrive. We found the food to be good classic pub meals with generous serves.
Great location for using as a base to visit wineries via uber or taxi.

Stayed here as a group of 6 (in 3 rooms) while attending a family wedding. The hotel was fabulous to deal with right from the start and we found them very accommodating when we informed them our elderly grandmother would be one of the guests. The pub itself is fabulous and the rooms are charming with very everyone in our group commenting on the comfortable beds. Staff were lovely and with complimentary breakfast this place is absolutely value for money.

I’m sure it’s been tough this past 2 years and it’s obvious this place has been on life support.
Whilst the linen and towels were spotless the rest of the “premium room” was in need of a good makeover .
The bed was very soft so no good for our aches and pains.
Luckily they provided ear plugs and insect spray - for good reason.

The staff were welcoming and pleasant to deal with.

Hopefully they survive COVID and can return to the GRAND old days.
