My husband and I recently stayed in The Garden Cottage at Mirkwood forest for 3 nights. When we arrived we were greeted by Kevin who showed us the cottage, the wood fire was alight, music was softly playing and a bottle of chilled champagne on ice was waiting. The cottage had everything we needed for a cosy stay, breakfast was provided and there were lovely touches such as the heated floor in the bathroom and heated towel rack. There was plenty of information about nearby walks and other activities and Kevin was only too happy to offer suggestions of great restaurants etc when asked. The cottage is very peaceful and it was great to see kangaroos on the nearby hillside. We thoroughly recommend Mirkwood Forrest accomodation.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, I had been cooped up at home for the past 6 months. Unable to leave aside from basic needs. After working and living in the same four walls for so long, I was in great need of a change of scenery. I needed to rest and recharge. Mirkwood was the perfect place. The Garden guest house was stunning, so pretty. Old world charm with modern amenities. (The spa was a godsend). The small touches were so thoughtful and added such character, from the art to the furniture. My hosts, Bruce and Kevin were so wonderful and provided everything I needed to make my escape relaxing and comfortable. I leave feeling recharged and centred. I cannot recommend Mirkwood enough. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your outstanding hospitality. The cottage was perfect, so beautiful. The small touches did not go unnoticed, you do an amazing job. I don’t want to leave, but I do feeling relaxed and recharged. I will be recommending Mirkwood to my friends and family. I will be back. Thanks again.

Mirkwood Forest provides a tranquil base for a getaway to the Macedon Ranges. The Tennis Court cottage was exquisite. Modern, yet cozy, with many great amenities (the heated floors and outdoor jacuzzi were my favorites), it really felt like a little slice of heaven. Kevin was a great host, we really appreciated the welcome tour of the cottage and the dinner recommendation. Can't wait to go back one day.

Fantastic place, the fire was lit upon arrival. The hosts had thought of everything we might want to make our stay enjoyable. The place is charming and tranquil. My only complaint is that we didn't stay long enough to enjoy more of it.

From the moment we walked in from the icy cold, we were welcomed with a warm fire and inviting toasty ambience. The feel of the place is "a little chic hotel hideaway", attention to detail at every turn, immaculately clean and artistically and beautifully presented. The fridge was filled with breakfast treats, a complimentary bowl of fruit on the bench, so the fact that it rained all day and all night really didn't matter! We enjoyed the spa and a movie, but especially being somewhere secluded in nature whilst we read, played games and relaxed! We also loved wandering in the bushland and Kevin and Bruce's garden. One very small down side was we had trouble reaching the glasses in the kitchen cupbaord - they were for tall people only! We will be back!

Accomodations were clean and luxurious. Plenty of things to do, or sit in the outdoor heated spa and watch the sun come up on a cold winters day ...... Magical. The owners have thought of everything, even down to a small thing of having massive fluffy towels (bath sheets) in the bathroom. We will be booking in again.

A wonderful 5 star experience. We stayed at the Garden Guest House and it was tastefully furnished and very very clean. Champagne on arrival and Breakfast provisions was a lovely touch. Having the kitchen on hand was great as we were able to stay in for a meal. The plan was to have a relaxation weekend and this was the ideal place for it. We went for walks around the gardens, and there was plenty of room to lay out a picnic rug (or use one of the lounge chairs that Keven brought down for us) and busk in the sun. Hepburn Springs is only a 45 min drive away and therefore we were able to drop in there for a spa package. Mirkwood is an ideal place to getaway and we will definitely be back.

Everything about our stay at Mirkwood was more than we could have hoped. As others have mentioned every detail was thought of. We were shown to our cottage, the Garden Guest House, and entered to music playing in the background, fire blazing and champagne on ice. So much attention to detail, comfort of guests obviously uppermost. We certainly made the most of our cottage, out sightseeing all day then relaxing at 'home' in front of the fire in the evenings. Couldn't have asked for more. Beautiful gardens throughout the property, surrounded by regional park. We could barely see the other cottage or the main house, it felt very private. We had 5 days at Mirkwood and could easily have stayed much longer. We hope to get back one day and have no hesitation recommending it to others.

I have spent the past three months at the garden cottage at Mirkwood Forest. Though Bruce and Kevin typically hire the cottages out on a short-term basis, they made an exception for my writing retreat needs. The property is private, quiet, and restful. The gardens are lovely, the surrounding eucalyptus forest filled with stillness and birdsong. The paths, lakes, and reservoir make for lovely walks and contemplation.

The kitchen is perfectly kitted by chefs who know. The ensuite jacuzzi tub is perfect for relaxing and soaking out the aches and pains leftover from city life.

Bruce and Kevin have been the consummate hosts. Most needs were met proactively, meaning I wanted for nothing. I could not have asked for a better place to relax, write, and prepare for next steps forward.

I am grateful for my stay here and encourage anyone wanting a perfect getaway to investigate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mirkwood. We had two unplanned days at the end of a week holiday in Victoria and wanted somewhere self-contained, private and comfortable, and not too far from the airport. Mirkwood Garden Cottage was perfect. The hosts kindly accomodated us with a last minute booking and then allowed us to check-out late. The cottage was a lovely surprise, beautiful furnishings, relaxing setting amongst the trees and roos, had everything we needed, and the location was great for our sojourns around the Mt Macedon area. Thank you for a lovely stay!
