Our family group had two meals here over the Grand Final weekend. The food was outstanding and as it is owned by Pizzini Winery, the wine list most comprehensive. We also enjoyed the King River Brewery beers that were on tap which are also first class. Then there’s the service which is exemplary. Every staff member was so friendly and accommodating. Given the reduced number due to COVID restrictions the numbers were small but that did not take away from the staffs’ enthusiasm, professionalism and good humour. This hotel could be the benchmark for hospitality. We will be back.

We booked for lunch and did not leave disappointed. The menu is filled with a great range of local produce, and the chef does an excellence job in creating beautiful dishes. Staff were attentive and prompt with service throughout our meal. Drinks were served quickly. The dining room is a beautiful room and the owners have done an excellent job in presenting an elegant yet casual place for a meal.

We stayed here for two nights recently on a trip to the King Valley. The room we stayed in was a little dated however it was large and the king bed comfortable. The bathroom was adequate however the shower does not have a door/screen and so the floor got wet which necessitated us throwing down our towels to mop it up. The window would benefit from better furnishings that provide a bit more privacy. Laura and Duncan, the new managers, are lovely and very helpful. The provision of OJ, cereal and bread and condiments was unexpected however very welcome. A great base to explore the stunning King Valley!

All the reviews on here are correct. The food in the restaurant is great (although service leaves a little to be desired) but the rooms are really disappointing - way overpriced at $160 per night. Even at $120 you might think, well you get what you pay for. But not at $160. It’s literally like they started renovating the rooms then ran out of money, or time or interest. Some new bathroom fittings and newish carpet yet timber work that’s old and peeling and faded. Lamps without working bulbs. A wardrobe like my nana had. No armchair - just rickety wooden dining chairs, or your bed. The worst was no sheers on the window - fine at night, but during the day the only options were have the only (blackout) blind closed, or be presentable to everyone who passes by, every single one of whom I guarantee will peer into your room as they walk past. No lying in bed with a coffee reading the news on your iPad! None of the room’s deficiencies were the end of the world - they were just nowhere near worth $160 per night!

Meal is lovely! Service is pretty good too! We went there and it’s busy but we still got some seats fast. Wait for food isn’t that bad either. We had the entree which is smoked salmon with pickled celeriac. salmon melts in the mouth but the celeriac is way too acidic and takes it away from the salmon. it’s also cut way too thick. If it’s paper thin, the chewing experience will be out of this world. For mains, we had the twice cooked chicken and the steak. steak and chicken cooked perfectly and we both enjoyed it! The chicken isn’t dry and the sauce complimented it well. I have a feeling that the chefs sous vide the chicken then grill it to perfection. For desert, we had the housemate chocolate tart. the pastry is thick on the sides but the chocolate itself melts in the mouth. Was hoping for a flaky and buttery pastry but I’m not fussed. The only thing that ruined our good is experience is that fake chocolate sauce that they drizzled the tart with. WHY THE F WOULD THEY RUIN A GOOD TART WITH EDLYN FAKE CHOCOLATE SAUCE?! use a real one next time. it’s easy to make a nice chocolate sauce. Overall, we enjoyed it. We’ll be back definitely but hopefully next time, that chocolate sauce will be burned to ashes.
