This was an exceptional stay among the many destinations we have had in Victoria this month. We will definitely stay again & 100% recommend this location, not only for Christine, who was an excellent host, very attentive and helpful but also the quality of the stay. We had Room 25 and this was at the end of the corridor. Everything in the room was spotlessly clean and there was everything that we needed. The location, although not serving lunch or dinner is close to Warburton and locations such as Alpine Hotel as a typical pub, Babaji's for Indian dishes from Kerala, Little Joes for Pizza can offer great choices. The location is also close to the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail if you need some exercise. The breakfast, coffees and hot dishes are made to order and did not disappoint. The property is located in a beautiful location, along the banks of the River Yarra. There are communal spaces to play pool, relax, share drinks, watch TV, etc. if those are desired.

I spent two nights at Oscar's on the Yarra, from 11 to 13 December, and had a truly pleasant experience from start to finish. The hotel, built in the 1920s, exudes old-world charm with its heritage style, elegant details, and welcoming atmosphere, reminiscent of the elegant country estates in Agatha Christie adaptations. My room, though small, was meticulously clean and thoughtfully appointed. The added touch of coziness and vintage ambiance gave the place a character all its own - both timeless and inviting.
One of the most pleasant moments of our stay was spent on a balcony overlooking the hotel's peaceful scenic grounds and the Yarra River. It was such a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring, to enjoy the quiet surroundings, and to hear sounds of nature.
Each morning began with a fresh, delicious breakfast, thoughtfully prepared and served with great attention to detail. Dinner with Christine and Jason was equally delightful, and the engaging conversation made the experience even more memorable.
Many thanks to Christine and Jason for their warm hospitality and wonderful company during my stay. Their friendliness and dedication to creating a comfortable, welcoming environment made all the difference. I had a fantastic time and look forward to visiting again.

We have just had our second trip to Oscar’s on the Yarra and loves every minute of it! To arrive to the peaceful, beautiful grounds again and be greeted warmly by Christine was just lovely. I felt myself relax walking through the doors! The rooms are beautiful. The bed and bedding fabulous. To sit out on the balcony and have an excellent coffee watching and listening to the river and looking at the magnificent trees was so relaxing. Breakfast in the dining room was delicious, service excellent. The toiletries from Warbotannicals were a treat and we went to their shop in Warburton to purchase some. Dinner and the Alpine hotel was very good and do visit Cabin and Co homewares on Warburton. Looking forward to our next stay with Christine at Oscars in the near future !

Wonderful hosts, beautiful, peaceful setting. The rooms are clean and were always warm. Bed very comfy and warm. Bathroom not heated, we just left the door open to take the chill off. Let's face it, we're not there to spend time in a bathroom! Breakfasts are a highlight, included in tariff. The kookaburras visit for a snack during breakfast. Bar was open and coffee was good. Christine and her mum Cathie made yummy soup on the Saturday night (of a long weekend) which meant we didn't have to brave the elements for dinner. They are hoping to have the restaurant open later this year. This was the second visit for one of the couples in our party, and my husband and I - it won't be the last. My friends and I walked into Warburton, stopping for hot chocolate on the way back. The Yarra Rail Trail runs between Lilydale and Warburton, and is just across the highway from Oscar's, so you join it there to walk or cycle where you will. Oscar's can safely accommodate guests' bicycles. There's plenty of space in lounge rooms to socialise, read, play board or card games, and play on the billiard table. One friend and I sat toe to toe on the Chesterfield couch doing our crafts and Christine thoughtfully placed a throw blanket over our feet. The next day she retrieved the throw for another guest who was reading on a couch in the billiard room. It was a very relaxing weekend, not least due to attentive hosts.

We had an awesome and excellent stay at this place. Christine, Host and Manager was the most amazing person. Made sure all the guests feels trully right at home. The location was perfect for us sort of away from the town centre but not far too from it. We got all we need, quiet tranquill location, Yarra river was right next to it and all trails for the hike to Mt Donna Buang are accessible from the place. The building is well maintained heritage, a character of its era, rooms are clean, bed is very comfortable and guests area are warm and relaxed. Breakfast was a treat, and ohhh the baristas, fresh made coffee starts our morning right. It was a magnificent get away experience. We trully enjoyed our stay. Thank you to Christine and the team⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️from the four of us happy hikers🚶🏻♂️🚶🏻♀️🚶🏻♂️🚶🏻♀️

Brilliant location for exploring the quaint country towns of the Yarra area.
The owner, Christine, was so welcoming and beautifully accommodated our crazy hour of arrival and late night grazing board needs.
Breakfast was abusively delightful. The room clean, comfortable, and well laid out with a great little private verandah to enjoy the mountains and trees.
The main outdoor deck overlooks a green landscape of big old trees and a lovely river running through.
Be a great couples getaway, friendly, romantic, private.

Found this on booking.com but I strongly recommend that you book with them directly!!
The host are a lovely couple, we enjoyed our short conversation with them while having breakfast.
The rooms were big, but we really enjoyed our time by the river.
While having breakfast, the host will feed the kookaburra’s so you might be able to see a few!

My wife and I spent a couple of nights at Oscar's toward the end of a little central Victorian road trip. Oscar's is a lovely escape from humdrum and chaos. We loved the history of the place, elegant reading room (didn't spend enough time in it!), very comfortable and spacious bed-room with ensuite, breakfast with the kookaburra's on the balcony, quiet evenings taking in the river view and birdlife, and very warm and engaging hospitality from Christine.
It was very handy to be able to lock up our bikes on the balcony which opened from our room and onto the front lawn. For cyclists, this is worth bearing in mind when you request your room. Also, the Lilydale-Warburton bike trail goes past Oscar's (on the other side of the highway).
We forgot a toothbrush charger, and Christine kindly posted it back to us on request.
The restaurant was not open due to the uncertainties from Covid, but hopefully this will continue to improve and allow Oscar's to open this again.
Would we stay again? Absolutely, and bring a book.

The property is positioned next to the Yarra River and offers excellent dining and accomodation. We were made to feel very welcome and our 20+ guests spread out across the property in private rooms, coming together for meals.
This was a return visit for a milestone family event - two major birthdays. In the lead up to our stay Christine was incredibly helpful working with my husband on the menu for our private dining experience. She was able to meet the needs of meat, fish and vegetable lovers alike and everyone raved about their meals and the service.
We stayed overnight and also enjoyed a delicious breakfast and a special visit from the local kookaburras. Highly recommended.

In a late change to our Australian trip schedule we booked 2 nights dinner bed and breakfast in this wonderful hostellery on the Yarra ,(and at the rear of the property ). Where to start , the staff were all friendly, effective ,and professional, our room a slightly larger room 21 was just what we wanted .The first Saturday night was very full in the restaurant yet the service was good as were the meals and the excellent wines available- a joy. Do try the local Pinot Blanc is a recommendation. The breakfast was cooked to order along with a continental buffet , and on the second ( Monday Morning ) with just 2 couples at breakfast we were treated to a group of Kookaburra's called in from the land at back of the restaurant to the rail on the deck for a raw bacon buffet , from England ,as we were a delight to see This was a wonderful stay , plenty to see and do in the area thoroughly recommended if ever you want a stay in the Yarra valley ( 2 photos attached )
