Detailed Reviews
We were welcomed by extremely friendly and professional staff who went out of their way to make us feel very special! We stayed at the heritage wing , The room we had at the front of the building had great views, was very nicely fitted out and appointed, very comfortable. Several staff mentioned it to be their favourite room.

We went as a family group, on a wet and windy week-end.
I used to 'hang out' in Sorrento many years ago but haven't been there for probably 20 years.
The town itself has high quality shops and I needed some new clothes, so the choices were amazing.
I would rate the town as 'High Street Armadale At The Sea'.
The hotel conversion has been a classy and quality job and the hotel is a destination in itself. It is very well managed and the staff are universally friendly and helpful.
There is great range of eating options in house and Sorrento offers many more. As a family group of 11, we had no problems in finding good places.
A real feature was the public areas, such as the lounge and the breakfast area. Stylish, comfortable and wonderful decor. This is a rarity in Australia.
A negative was the lack of outlook. We had 5 rooms and none had any real outlook. This is an urban hotel which happens to be near the sea, not a beach-side hotel.
We would come back and also recommend The Continental to friends.

Make no mistake- this is NOT a 5 star hotel.
Very poor value for money.
Breakfast was limited with little fruit or choice of cereals.
Having stayed at many 5 star hotels this breakfast was more like a 3 star hotel.
Stains on seats in a very average guest lounge with quality of furniture that did not suggest much investment.
The point about this review is not to denigrate the hotel but state that if you are anticipating 5 star luxury and service you will not get it here.
Could not believe the quality of toilet paper in the mens toilet-disintegrated in your hand=seemed very cheap.
The Intercontinental is a brand I have used before but this hotel did not match my experience.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your perspective. Upon reading your review, it seems that many of your concerns, particularly regarding breakfast, may relate to The Continental Bar & Restaurant, which operates independently from InterContinental Sorrento. As for the other areas mentioned, we take your comments about the lounge, furniture quality, and other details very seriously. Your experience is not reflective of the high standards we strive to deliver. We will address these points internally to ensure improvements are made. Should you choose to visit us again, we would be happy to assist you in planning your stay to ensure a 5-star experience. Please feel free to contact our team directly so we can ensure your next visit meets the standards you expect and deserve. Warm regards, Jason Burnett General Manager InterContinental Sorrento

Hotel's Favourite
From Day 1, the hotel experience was a wow factor. The minute my friend and I arrived, the concierge greeted us and advised us where to park for guests. Our luggage was brought up to our room whilst we were checking in. The room was impeccably clean. They provided free bottled water, mini bar beverages and bathrobes. Service to the room for additional beverages was extremely quick and always with a smile. Breakfast at The Atrium was good. Lunch at Conti was great - highly recommend their beef burger. Dinner at Audrey’s was fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed our bathhouse and spa treatments. Hotel staff was very professional and friendly. Shops and cafes were around the corner from the hotel. Was sad to depart after 3 days but will definitely return to this superb hotel.

I will start with the positives - check in process was ok but seeing as this is supposed to be a 5* Hotel I would have expected valet parking or someone to greet us from the car park and help with our luggage as reception is quite a distance away. The room was nice, good that we had complimentary non alcoholic beverages and snacks in the mini bar. However not great that in the minibar it wasn’t standard Coca Cola but the “local brew cola” ie unbranded. Shower and bathroom nice. The premium room which we had booked and paid a supplement for, unfortunately didn’t have a great view (our room overlooked the rear loading bay of the hotel) and there was forklift activity from 6am.
We were really looking forward to our Breakfast…..When we went down for breakfast, we were given a set menu which actually stated that items could not be changed or customised. We were allowed 1 coffee per person, when I asked for a second coffee, I was advised I would be charged?!! So I’ve paid a lot of money for this room and I’m only allowed 1 coffee?? Absolutely absurd. Off of the menu everyone is given a granola pot with a small amount of yogurt underneath and 1 piece of watermelon and 1 strawberry each. The mains consisted of around 5 different choices. The main breakfast was one of the options and this included mushrooms, 2 fried eggs, 1 slice of bacon and a tomato and a piece of dry toast. Overall we were very disappointed and would never return. I would advise people to save their money and stay somewhere else where your allowed to choose your breakfast and your “allowed” a second coffee.

Oh dear, our very special weekend away at the famous Conti Hotel was such a failure. The disappointment began with seeing that our sitting room was the size of a corridor, and our balcony (with peculiar furniture) was wedged between ours and the next building. Sitting on the attractive but most uncomfortable sofa to check hotel information on the TV was even more disappointing, as the large screen was so close to the seat it was impossible to focus. If only there was a comfortable chair, or two would be better, but of course we were in this narrow corridor so there was no room.
To be fair, the bathroom in room 2316 is beautiful, and the bed comfortable, although a pillow menu would have been helpful as ours were far too hard. Heating\Air-con worked perfectly and we loved the automatic curtains. It was also helpful that we had good WiFi available, given that we could not watch television. (We cannot bear watching television from our bed)
Breakfast on the first morning was puzzling, as it is obviously assumed that everyone should be thrilled with a platter of sweet pastries and the usual sliced fruit. Opting for simple eggs from the menu, I requested lightly cooked toast and fried eggs, only to be served cold over cooked eggs on equally cold dry toast! That was inedible, so I ate some fruit and left. Surely it would be possible to offer cereal for the many people who expect this for breakfast? Breakfast on day two was even worse. Leaving the dodgy eggs, and not fancying dry toast, I ordered crumpets with marmalade. Wow, how can this go so wrong in a 5 star hotel? I took one bite of these stone cold offerings, with stale cake texture that clung to the roof of my mouth, and once again had a few slices of fruit. Truly disappointing again.
I did speak to the Maitre’d about the crumpets, but was told that as we had prepaid our breakfast there was nothing he could do about it. That really wasn’t the point, as I didn’t want my money back, but felt the kitchen should be questioned about this serving of cold, stale food.
Finally I would like to say how happy we were with the staff. Without exception everyone was friendly and helpful, with nothing too much trouble.

We always stay at the Intercontinental Hotels when we travel. We had eagerly awaited for the Intercontinental in Sorrento to be opened. I cannot fault the staff or the hotel and it absolutely lived up to our expectations! We received a phone call earlier in the day from the reception staff to invite us to an Oyster and Champagne function later in the afternoon which we thought was a lovely touch. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by extremely friendly and professional staff who went out of their way to make us feel very special! All of the staff went above and beyond to make our stay so wonderful. A special mention must go to Adam the manager who was exceptional, so approachable, so friendly, so helpful and so professional. Thank you so much!
We booked an Ocean View room with a balcony and it was beautiful, the rooms are decorated in an Art Deco theme, beautifully furnished very spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was super soft and the pillows divine, oodles of soft fluffy towels and the toiletries were lovely. The mini bar was complimentary which was a nice surprise and an A La Carte breakfast is also included in the room rate. We also ate in the Conti Bar and the food was delicious. We loved our stay so much we didn't want to leave and we simply cannot wait to stay again next time we visit beautiful Sorrento!

We have stayed in many Intercontinentals over the years from Fiji, Bora Bora to Singapore and this has to be by far the worst. It is not true to the brand and I feel that is overpriced for what is delivered. The rooms are dated, the pool area did not have service, the hotel lacks lustre and the breakfast buffet is something that should be served in 2-3 star hotel. The Conti restaurant had slightly above average food and Barlow looked like a dark empty room. We didn’t go to Audrey’s so I can not comment. Overall disappointing experience, and I would not return to this hotel.

We absolutely loved our 2 nights at the Intercontinental for Australia Day weekend. Seamless checkin assisted by Taylah & Angela where we used the free guest parking which was a real bonus. Fortunate to be in room 1304 with great views over the strip (it also overlooks the sunset terrace so there’s a bit of noise on Friday & Saturday nights but nothing that caused us any trouble. The appointment of the room in the heritage wing was fantastic with a bath, double sinks, very comfortable king sized bed and complimentary mini bar. We had lunch at the Conti beer garden (it’s the inside section with Promenade bookings being outside) and that was absolutely great. Service from Cecile was spot on and the calamari, St Andrew’s pizza, the salmon and Mac n cheese were all awesome. Dinner at the Atrium was also a treat again with great service, decent wines by the glass and great food. Breakfast served in the Atrium was a real treat. It’s a buffet at weekends with a very decent choice of fruits, pastries, eggs, bacon and chicken sausages (which aren’t my go to but they were delicious), fruit juices, breads, etc. Service again was excellent with a Nespresso machine or coffee orders taken by the serving staff and brought to your table. I really can’t fault the hotel facilities or the staff which made our stay very memorable and we will definitely be returning. Would highly recommend if you’re down on the peninsula.

Second time staying at the Continental and everything is as perfect as I remembered. BUT I was disappointed that the pool is open to Public visitors Friday-Sunday after 3.30pm. Reception advised that outside guests were not permitted to swim - how this is regulated is beyond me! The influx of non-hotel guests ruined the otherwise secluded and luxurious experience of the pool, and the bar service dropped significantly with the flood of outside guests demanding drinks. I encourage the hotel to prohibit outside guests so that paying guests can enjoy the exquisite poolside experience they are expecting! Everything else about this hotel was divine!
