From the . friendly greeting by Charlie on our arrival, with the wonderful M&M( Muffins and Muscat)We couldn't be happier with our generous gift from our friends for my husbands 80th birthday .We hadn't been to Rutherglen for many years, and to take Hugo our sausage dog with us for the first time ever was a little nerve racking. But Chris and Charlie were fantastic, and made us all feel at home. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so had to leave the brat behind on our day out visiting wineries. He got quite distressed ,but Chris was lovely ,and gave him LOTS of treats. We were all very comfy and Chris's breakfasts were great. We hope to return and stay a bit longer. It was lovely meeting Chris and Charlie, absolutely wonderful hosts, born to do B &B's.!! Hugo loved meeting all of your fur kids, it was wonderful to see them all interacting. Thanks Chris and Charlie. Cheers , Raie and Trevor.

MLD is for dogs, but they let their humans stay with them as well. It really is a nice change to stay somewhere that recognises that our pets are part of our family.

Each of the suites has its own secured yard with an undercover area for inclement weather. It was a relief to see that there were no muddy patches for the dog to get dirty in. The yards are covered in pine bark chip, which was clean and drained well. The gardens are well maintained and provide some shade as well.

This is not high-end, luxury accommodation but we give it five stars for Chris and Charlie's friendliness and eagerness to welcome you and your pets. Their local knowledge is exceptional. Chris is happy to make bookings on your behalf and this ensures you will receive a very dog-friendly welcome at the places you visit.

The chandelier suite was very warm and comfortable. The breakfast cooked by Chris was vast (especially the pancakes, cooked from Charlie's grandmother's recipe) and we get to meet the Chis and Charlie's pack each morning ranging from little Velvet all the way up to Princess the Great Dane.

I concur with the preceding comments that it is a wonderful place to stay.

We stayed in the self contained cottage with our Spoodle, Nelson. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, and it is cosy and warm. The king size bed is heavenly. Nelson loved the safe/enclosed garden out the back which he had all to himself - he could sniff all day to his heart's content.

What makes Must Love Dogs so special is that Chris and Charles obviously love what they do and that they truly love animals [and us humans].

We (including Nelson) went on the three hour wine tour with Charles. We would thoroughly recommend this tour because we discovered fabulous vineyards off the beaten track that would be difficult to find if we were doing our own thing. And, yes, the vineyards were very dog friendly.

The Victoria Hotel nearby is rather special ... it has good meals at a reasonable price and, again, is very dog friendly. Must Love Dogs is only a short work into Rutherglen town, so it is very convenient.

And now we are in lockdown, again. So for the moment we are unable to travel (sigh). However, perhaps those not too far geographically and still able to travel will consider staying at Must Love Dogs for a break and relaxation. For without your much needed support businesses such as this wonderful place will suffer.

Once this is all over we would love to visit Rutherglen once again.

Dear Jenny, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. Charles loved the wine tour with you both and nelson. We have tried to make Rutherglen as dog friendly as possible. Yes, we are going through stressful times again. Most bookings have had to cancel. I do hope we catch up with you again when things improve. Keep safe and well until then. Kind Regards Chris, Charles and the fur kids

I stayed in the Chandelier room which was beautiful, the bedroom was luxurious and the adjoining living area was full of personality, the leather recliners were so comfortable. There is a fully enclosed area for your dog off the living room so they can go in and out as they please.
Chris and Charlie were so friendly and obliging. Breakfast was cooked by Chris and was a great way to start the day, Day 1 Eggs Benidict with Smoked Salmon, Day 2 Pancakes with Banana maple syrup and cream, Day 3 Eggs and Bacon. Cannot recommend high enough for a relaxing weekend way with your dog!

If you love dogs and wine this is the place for a getaway. An easy walk to the Rutherglen town centre, wineries and dog friendly parks, Chris and Charlie have created a wonderful B&B that is truly welcoming of dogs. Chris’s breakfasts are delicious (perfectly poached eggs). We really enjoyed our stay and the breakfast chats. Rutherglen is also very welcoming of dogs, with most cellar doors happy to have our boy join us so long as he was on a lead.

✅Clean rooms
✅Comfy beds
✅Great hostes
✅Delicious food
✅Fantastic stay

Had an amazing weekend trip with family. My pup and I stayed in the garden suite which was the perfect size for us with a fantastic bed.
Each room has its own secure yard for the dogs to relax in with plenty of shade and water bowls already full for when we arrived.

Delicious breakfast each morning with fresh tea and coffee, and delicious marmalade!

The pool was perfect for a relaxed warm afternoon and air conditioning in every room so no worries about getting too hot.

Hosts are lovely and great to chat with in the mornings while breakfast is cooking and my dog had a great time running around with their little pack.

What a sensational place to stay. Although called "Must Love Dogs", Chris and Charles ensure the owners are catered for too. From the heated pool for both dogs and owners to the massive cooked breakfasts to the personalised wine tour/sight seeing to the perfect picnic hamper packed ready for you, the list goes on so much you don't want to leave! Cannot speak highly enough of the accommodation, facilities or the pampering for dogs and owners. Chandelier Room has easy access, comfortable bed and chairs, good wi-fi, tv, hot water and large safe area for dog. SC unit at back has just enough amenities to cook for yourself but Chris ensures bookings for you in town if desired. Thanks guys from Baxter

We just spent 5 nights at Must Love Dogs between Boxing Day and New Years Eve.
We stayed in the Garden Suite with Stanley our dog.
This was our 3rd stay and definitely won’t be our last. Chris and Charley, as per before, were the perfect hosts. Breakfasts are delicious and varied you are made to feel at home.
The Garden Suite is wonderful, very comfortable and private – perfect for our dog. The yard is securely fenced off making Stanly feel relaxed and calm.
The rooms are very clean, well appointed, the bed comfortable and the swimming pool a welcome relief from the summer days. Unfortunately, Stanley likes to sit and watch rather than hopping in.
Must Love Dogs is perfectly located, with 3 excellent pubs, some excellent restaurants and a winery all withing walking distance. Grace and Thousand Pounds get a special mention and well worth checking out if you want a quality feed.
Definitely try the Duriff wines. Especially the sparkling.
We took our bikes and trailer (for Stanley) and it is the perfect location for exploring the Rail Trails and other back roads. There are many wineries between Rutherford and Corowa and exploring by bike is the perfect way to go.

Chris & Charlie’s place was a fabulous choice to escape to for a precious 24 hours. It’s such a unique property - the colourful, cosy space was relaxing and abundant with hospitable touches. Yoshi our beloved rescue greyhound couldn’t have landed in a better spot for her first night away from home. We only scratched the surface of the joys of Rutherford and can’t wait to return. Thank you for a very special time. See you again soon!

We were looking for a couple of nights away from Canberra as the COVID restrictions were relaxing, and my wife had been eyeing off Must Love Dogs for a while.

At the risk of duplicating past reviews, we had a wonderful time, and there's really nothing we could fault. Our doggos were made to feel right at home, the room was perfect for our needs (especially the private secure garden), and Chris and Charles couldn't have been any more welcoming. Breakfast was wonderful on both mornings, and Chris provided a number of local recommendations for things to do. We also fell in love with Chris's five dogs, particularly the rescues and their wild stories - they clearly love having new people stay, and couldn't have been any more charming.

We were already planning our return before we'd left, and suspect we'll be looking for excuses to pass through Rutherglen in the future so that we can stay again.
