I booked this place accidentally as I had planned to stay in another place we had used before. It is on the edge of town but still close to all wineries. It is quiet and there is lots of free parking. The price is excellent for the facilities and location.

What a happy choice.

The owners rang us to check when we were arriving, so they could ensure that the aircon was on early for an extremely hot day.
They were very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them.
Definitely not a chain motel!

The rooms were large and very clean. The bed was comfortable, there were two large leather armchairs and plenty of facilities and bathroom items - including plates, cutlery and wine glasses.

Nice touches were the very large bath sheets, free water in the bar fridge, brewed coffee in the morning and kitchen items letting us eat in.

This place is now our preferred accommodation in Rutherglen.

Driving across Victoria I was looking for a bearable, basic motel for the night to break my journey. This was an unexpected delight. It had all its old-school motel brown decor glory but was clean and good quality. The room was quiet, the beds and pillows were good quality and comfortable. There were big soft bath sheets for towels.

The owners had thought of little things to make the stay nicer. A jug of chilled water in the fridge, a setting with cheese knives and cloth serviettes (perfect in a wine region for an evening cheese and wine snack).

And they were warm, genuine about looking after guests and friendly. When I talked to them next morning and asked where I should leave a review online they said “oh you’ve told us personally already, that’s the most useful”.

Worth a detour off the main drag to stay here even if it’s not your destination.

I was alone but would have been great for kids. Lots of outdoor space to run around and a pool.

Top notch motel. Cleanest bathroom and loo if ever seen in a motel/hotel/resort (and I’ve stayed in some grand places around the world). The owner is a charming Scotsman with a wicked sense of humour. Great rates, too. I can heartily and happily recommend this place.

The motel was older style both externally and internally but clean and neat with all the ammenities required for a short stay. Expect and older style air-conditioner that is noisy and inefficient and may not adequately heat the room or freeze on a very cold night if you can put up with the noise..It was well located and had a pool and large grounds (that looked tired and needed some attention) . With some money and a refurbishment and attention this place could be much better.

This is probably not the newest nor the flashiest motel in town. But we thought it was exceptional value and very comfortable. It is sited within walking distance of town, and virtually across the road from the Rutherglen Estates Cellar Door (ask Reception at the motel for a discount voucher). The room was larger than the usual standard motel room, it was quiet and was equipped with the things you'd expect (it does have a toaster as well as the usual electric a jug). The bed was one of the most comfortable we have experienced. The lady at Reception was very welcoming and very helpful. We'd certainly stay there again. The surrounding area is interesting, and well worth visiting. Tips - eat at Poachers Hotel, buy pies from Parker's Pies (you'll probably want to take an Esky full of them home, if home is the next night's stop!!) and enjoy some good, unusual wines at Rutherglen Estates.

A consummate example of the country hotel complete with: drive up to your door; brown internal brick walls; pebble mix ceiling; flickering fluorescent tube; UHT milk and caroma bathroom fittings. Opening the door is like stepping back to the 70s in a time machine. This is very basic accommodation. The bed was comfortable and the room clean.

Turned up without a booking and were welcomed by the owner. We were quickly booked in and shown to our room. It was a basic room that had everything required nice bathroom, tea and coffee making, comfy bed, friendly staff. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

We stayed for 1 night. The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly and help you in any way they can. The room for 5 of us was spacious and very clean, very quiet and cosy. Air-conditioning worked very well for the 35 degree day and pool area is great. Will most certainly stay again. Wonderful accommodation!

This older style motel, tucked well away from the highway noise, houses some very pleasant surprises. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large comfy chairs for relaxing and watching the T.V. The beds are large and comfortable and there is plenty of space in the bathroom and shower area. Everything is scrupulously clean and there are thoughtful amenities placed throughout the room. There is the usual front door to the room where the car is parked, but there is also a back door opening onto a wide interior corridor. This is great for moving between rooms and accessing reception and a large breakfast room, particularly if it is raining. The place is a short walking distance from Rutherglen pubs, restaurants and shops. The proprietors are extremely friendly and certainly understand hospitality. The tariff is surprisingly low, representing great value. I will certainly return.
