If you are travelling through Rutherglen and want a unique place to stay, then this is the location for you. 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms - spacious living areas, plenty of off street parking and right in the centre of town, The 9 bikes are ideal for a cycle wine tour, and we sampled some of regions finest. Absolutely sensational.
With 10 friends we had a winery weekend based at this lovely converted bakery in Rutherglen. Excellent beds and linens. A huge kitchen plus barbeque outdoor area. Off street parking. Bicycles and helmets provided too. The friendly owners like to meet and greet their clients. A good selection of wine bars, restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops are almost just outside the front door. Supermarket also in the main street. Mini coach and driver for winery visits can be arranged.
We have been staying at The Glen Bakery in Rutherglen for many years now. As the name suggests the house was a bakery back in its day. It is conveniently located in the main street of Rutherglen. Walking distance to many pubs, restaurants, bakeries and the IGA. The house has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The bedrooms are all tastefully furnished. There are 4 queen rooms and 2 x twin rooms and there is also a sofa bed in the front room of the house. Plenty of parking out the back. Bikes you can use to ride around the wineries and along the converted old railway tracks. There is a laundry with washing machine and dryer, and a courtyard with a big bbq and outdoor setting. Greg and Marie are your hosts and live nearby. They offer plenty of information and suggestions on what there is to see and do in the district. Rutherglen is situated ideally for exploring wineries in Rutherglen, Glenrowan, Bright/Alpine region and the King Valley. It is also close to numerous top quality golf courses along the Murray River. Highly recommend this place and will be back again and again I am sure.…
Friends discovered this gem and we're so glad they did. Greg was very knowledgeable about the local area and the best cycle paths to explore during our short stay. The house had everything we needed, and more! The beds were extremely comfortable and very welcome after a long day riding. A short walk to choice of dinner venues and bakeries, but dangerously close to the book shop. We would highly recommend staying and look forward already to a return visit
Absolutely love this place. Homely, comfy, cool history, great amenities, walk to shops, pubs, restaurants. Bbq facilities, next door to butchers:) love walking around the lake. Fab book shop opposite the front door. Fantastic wine region, best in Victoria. So much more to visit in the region as well. Love it. X
We stayed here and really liked it - best things are the amount of room/space you get, the location - could not be more central to everything, and the old style building - double brick high ceilings etc. they have Air-con - but even though it was hot outside it was really well insulated. There was only 4 of use so it was great with so much space. There are also bikes you can use. Only drawback is that you are on the main road - not that Rutherglen is very busy - but the occasional truck may bother the light sleeper. It did not really bother us. All in all - great value - I would definitely stay here again,
Stayed 2 nights here, location was absolutely amazing, the owners were very helpful. Had everything we needed for our stay, great outdoors area to sit and relax after exploring the wineries. 3 separate bathrooms and all bedrooms were very comfortable, would recommend this place to a group of 3 couples, one with children. Great stay.
Our group of three couples and a single stayed at The Glen Bakery early March for the Day on the green concert and found the house was well located in the Main street (although trucks roaring through town made the front rooms noisy) and surprisingly roomy. We enjoyed the large bright kitchen and courtyard and loved the 8 mountain bikes supplied with helmets and enjoyed the 10km ride along the rail trail into Corowa for a swim in the Murray. The house is lacking in a few basic items (like a hairdryer) and the toilet ran on so we had to turn it off at the cistern but it has two god sized separate bathrooms across the courtyard - one with a spa that we didn't use as too busy! The house is right in the Main st with a great pie shop a couple of doors up and good access to the three pubs. Overall a good choice for a large group to stay for an adventurous weekend as the region has plenty to do!…
My family of 10 adults stayed here for the Rutherglen Walkabout. The house has central heating- a bonus as it was frosty every morning. All the beds ( even the fold out) were very comfortable. The kitchen is functional and a good eating space and there is a gas BBQ in the back courtyard. We bought delicious meat and sausages from the butcher next door. The lounge room was big enough for all of us to relax after a day at the wineries. There is one bathroom and toilet inside and two more bathrooms and toilets connected by a walkway just outside the back door. Great parking out the back, plenty of room for three cars. Fronting the main street of Rutherglen the property is within walking distance of all the pubs, restaurants and the tourist centre. It can be a little noisy but it was a party weekend.…
This is an accommodation only 'house' in the old bakery. Huge, well equipped, clean, and centrally located. Pleasing decor with new linen & plenty of off street parking at the rear. We booked it for the groom & his groomsmen prior to the wedding as well as a couple of wives/girlfriends. 3 bathrooms means no traffic jams here! Its right next door to Bank On Main were the parents of bride & groom stayed & this aspect was convenient too. No breakfast but the IGA is almost opposite as plenty of breakfast options on the doorstep in Main Street. Definately recommended :)
