Motel was ok for an overnight stop. Good sized room, comfortable bed and decent shower. WiFi was hit and miss but good air conditioning which certainly helped!!
Room and motel is a bit dated but, as stated was ok for an overnighter.
Beach is 2 minutes away and beautiful and a 15 minute walk gets you to some food stops and a pub!
The noise from the main road is the issue however - souped up cars up and down the road till midnight ensures no early sleep for an early start!
Staff very nice and helpful - definitely ok for a short stopover!!

I'm often amazed when the difference of $40 is whether to have a spa bath in your bathroom or not. Being a cheap skate we took the one that didn't. Room was beautifully comfortable, clean but we weren't able to enjoy the balcony as it was on what seemed like a busy intersection where the noise was really bad and the view, well, the Shell Garage isn't that appealing.

The owners were warm and friendly but if you truly want to enjoy the beauty of the Mornington peninsular there seems to be many other places.

Was very lucky to get a room at the last minute on New Years Day. Check in was super easy and guy at reception was friendly. Room was surprisingly good. Bathroom was modern and appeared newly renovated. Bed was good and the air con was excellent for the >30 degree day. This hotel is perfectly located right across the road from the beach and a service station next door.
Negatives: Parking was minimal, bed sheets were awful (very harsh sheets - definitely needs upgrading), horrible water temperatures in shower, situated on the main road - so you get traffic noise up until midnight, horrible location for internet (couldn't get coverage - No Wifi). Although there is a microwave - they give you x2 knifes, and a teaspoon. No forks or bowls to eat in.

Steep price for >$350 for 1 night, but considering this was the holidays on New Years day.. would consider this a decent price.

Good location directly across from the beach and handy to shopping and restaurants. Comfy beds but could use with updated bedding. Unfortunately the place needs a good clean. Light switch plates, tv remote and chair cushions were in need of cleaning.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our four nights at Bayview Motel. The room was very clean and comfortable and the motel was in a very good location.
The host, Marissa, was very welcoming and was happy to share jer local knowledge with us.
We both really had a very pleasant stay at Rosebud.
We would thoroughly recommend this property.

Last minute booking so had no choice. Dated, awful location on a main intersection, but superb location to the beach. Its saviour. I would have expected a sheet change for a week's stay. The towels are old and need renewing
Staff are great , pool seems like someone's back yard. BUT, the beach is across the road !

As the title says -this is NOT the Hilton but for the price we paid we would expect something more than the Bayview?Rosebud. Bayview? Hardly! Bad start, felt we had been mislead & manager seemed unperturbed. If there was a positive the rooms were reasonably clean although had a musty smell about them. Location is average with a set of traffic lights out the front making for a lot of noise & nil or very little sleep. Rooms were good size but overall this place is VERY POOR value for money. Over rated in my opinion by some other reviewers & certainly OVERPRICED. Not particularly fond of paying 5 star price for 3 star quality. Off to Melbourne for a proper 5 star I hope

Response from BayviewManager, Manager at Bayview Motel
Responded 6 Jan 2011
Sad to hear your negative review. To be accurate water views are clearly visable from any Balcony room. Our rates are market rates and not 5 stars rates peak seasons have a higher rate, 5 star venues on the MP are as high as $600 per night and i know that you did not pay even 2 thirds of that. Please remember prices are based on demand and can peak. We never did say we are the "Hilton" we are a small motel that is clean comfortable and well positioned.

We stayed at the Bayview for a long weekend away, hoping to spend some time relaxing on the sand, perusing the shops and chilling out together.

Pros - clean enough, bed ok, big shower with good pressure
Cons - traffic noise (especially in the morning), smelled musty, crack in shower floor, on the outskirts of Rosebud, rooms outdated

Firstly, the Bayview is actually in West Rosebud, right on the border of Tootgarook, so don't think that you are right in town here. I imagined a short stroll to the shops after reading the other reviews, but it was a 4km walk on a busy road in a not-so-nice area. We ended up driving.

Our room was outdated and the shower floor had a crack in it. The room smelled musty everytime we returned and all-in-all the whole place could do with a makeover.

We chose a room that was described as a "Balcony Bayview Long Stay" as it was for 3 nights. The room was on the corner so our bayview was limited and obstructed by trees anyway. The road was so busy that it was not pleasant to sit on the balcony (and too noisy to leave the door open for long!).

The room had windows from floor to ceiling with long vertical blinds that let the light in easily in the morning, and the light from the motel sign shone through at night! Also, the traffic woke us up in the morning as the motel is situated at an intersection, hence cars and trucks stopping, changing gears etc.

To top it off, there was a group of boys on what appeared to be an end of season footy trip staying for two of the three nights we were there. The first night we were woken on several occasions to the noise of them banging on doors to get the people inside to let them in, as well as swearing loudly. The next day they took over most of the car park to spend the afternoon drinking and continued to swear loudly/excessively and play loud music. It was surprising and disappointing that the manager let this behaviour continue for a good 24 hours, disregarding the comfort of the other motel guests.

So after expecting a clean, central, budget motel we were disappointed with what we found. As stated above, we wished we had have paid an extra $20/night to stay at the other place we had researched (Moody's Motel FYI), which looked very nice as we drove past it!

Response from BayviewManager, Manager at Bayview Motel

love2getaway_35, Sorry to see your disappointment, we did have a group of younger males in over your corresponding stay, however we did warn them and found them to be very well behaved and had no issues with the group at all. The Bayview is located opposite the beach on Pt Nepean Rd, We are the only Motel that has water views on the Mornington Peninsula, given its locatation so close to the water we do expect some road noise. We will look into and resolve anything that comes to our attention. Hope to see you back soon.

Wasn't really sure what star rating to give this Motel. The Motel itself was clean, and the room had everything you could need for an overnight stay.
We booked this Motel due to its proximity to Peninsula Hot Springs, and in that aspect it was great too.
The negatives, ground floor room very noisy due to traffic, had to pay if you wanted wifi, and the coffee provided was International Roast ( probably the cheapest most revolting coffee you can get).
My other problem was to do with admin side of things, when you book you are asked for an approximate arrival time which is fine and I gave them one, the day before we were due, an email asking for approximate arrival time, the day of our arrival a phone call asking the same question plus another email. This got to be a bit annoying, so when we arrived and checked in I thought that will be it now, we checked in and went to the Hot Springs, on our return to the motel there was a missed call, you guessed it " what time will you be arriving" I didn't respond, as we had arrived all ready, checked in, had our room....the following morning yet another email but this time saying we would lose our booking if we didn't confirm....something clearly wrong with their computer set up. Hence only three stars.

My family planned on catching the early ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff and I had to look for somewhere convenient to stay for the night previous to the day of travel. I found the Bayview Motel on the strength of the reviews from other visitors. I did not have high hopes as I only expected to have a shower and catch some sleep before I leave eraly the next day. We visited the Penguin Parade Centre before we drove to the Sorrento area and I have informed the Motel that we would be arriving quite late. The Motel emailed me two days prior to my expected arrival informing me that their office would be closed at 8 pm. They have kindly offered to place my room key underneath the door mat outside my rooms. That worked perfectly fine. Upon my arrival, I discovered that the Motel does not have many rooms. My room came with one double bed and two single beds in a separate room. The double bed was placed in what appeared to be a sitting room. The rooms were well appointed and clean, though looking a bit old. The only downside to my room is the shower in my room. No matter how careful my family was in trying to contain the water in the bath tub, the water found its way to the toilet floor and slightly flooding the floo. Other than this, I have no problem with the room and the location of the motel, which is extremely convenient for catcing the ferry, which is a 10 min drive away. But be ware, save for the petrol station just opposite to the Motel, and which is closed from 11ish every night, there is virtually no shops around the area. If you need food, you will need to try your luck by driving towards Sorrento area. If I have to go back to this area, i do not mind staying in this Motel again.
