My husband and I had a balcony room with a great view of the golf course. The reception and bar staff were very helpful and friendly. Thank you to the manager for the unexpected hospitality! Food was good.

Location is the key to a successful night in a hotel, then followed by helpful staff and value for money. . Where do you start is the big question .... Check-in was great service with a quick run down on what the Mercure Portsea had to offer for our 3 day stay, there is no evening restaurant or bar open but we enjoyed the complimentary bottle of Champaign. Rooms were of a good size with all the amenities that you would expect in a Accor Motel establishment. Room was very well maintained and the seaside feeling of the room was a great touch overlooking the golf course by the resort. Having already read the reviews we already had a good idea that dinner was going to be the challenge, as the restaurant was not open due to COVID. We were prepared for the first night with a selection of snacks to make a cheese n meat platter. In saying that we felt that there was opportunity for the establishment to provide some more information around what was open and certainly what was NOT OPEN? Or if they had a deal with a few of the local restaurants that could have serviced the guest it would have been well used. As we where there Monday - Thursday there was very little open at all in Portsea or Sorento, which I am sure is a different story in summer. Breakfast was part off our package, we were very happy with the quality of the breakfast, as it set you up for a busy day ahead, all in all we enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a quiet resort which made you feel relaxed with the sounds of the waves. So keep this up team Mercure and the Portsea Golf Club.

Barely stayed in the hotel as we were too busy touring around the Mornington. Its been awhile since we stayed in an Accor hotel, the bed wasn't as comfortable as Hilton or other brands. The room was clean, didn't like how the shower didn't have a removable shower head. As the catering area is run by the golf club, you need to have to right attire (ie no T-shirt etc) to eat breakfast there, not sure how strict the rules were as we didn't eat in.

Stayed on a Sunday night, paid for a superior room but was very underwhelmed at the result. Room was small with little space for luggage. Shower tiles had much mould visible on grout. Occupants of next room very evident as could hear them. Told by front desk on check in that bistro open to 7pm but when we went there to check it out was told it shut at 5pm or maybe 3pm. View was nice of the golf course but the continuous loud speaker telling golfers to return to clubhouse was annoying. Front entrance was only accessed via driveway, no footpath and l slipped on the wet tarmac on steep drive. This was a disappointing experience when it was supposed to be a special treat, turns out it was a no frills operation. Did an email review and they rang me and apologised and offered a free upgrade to a bigger room if l returned, l told them l would never go back there.
