Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a lovely hidden gem. This is my new favourite place. Fabulous proximity to all the major attractions and Port Campbell but hidden away in a lovely spot. The little shop there on the Main Street is super well stocked up. A cute little coffee shop across from the park and beautiful views of the beach and inlet. The park is a popular stop and busy with lots of people coming and going but considering that it was still very quiet. There are lovely cute little cabins too. We had two caravans and were able to be next to each other. The staff were lovely and friendly. The manager Sarah went above and beyond to help us and make us feel comfortable and welcome. You could have pets and borrow fire pits with wood for sale. I want to keep this place my own secret but it’s too good to not rave about it. There is a kitchen, indoor bbq area, laundry with a baby bath and the usual cubicles for showers and bathrooms. They were clean enough and exactly what we needed. My only suggestion was maybe a wooden bench against the wall to be able to sit/get dressed outside the small shower cubicles for families.

The loveliest owners who said they would rather have empty sites than have guests put up with anti-social behaviour from other campers - as we have experienced too much on this road trip (sadly only from fellow Australians and not from the super-considerate European travellers). Clean facilities we really appreciated as well as the camp kitchen and lounge. A great place to stay being so crazily close to the stunning GOR views. We had the unpowered area pretty much to ourselves and really appreciated the owners' attitude. They will look after you - that's for sure.

We stayed in a Superior Cabin for 3 nights. Cabin was well equipped and the bed was comfy and warm. There wasn't any couch or lounge chairs, had to sit at the dining table to watch tv which wasn't comfortable. The parks laundry and bathroom facilities were clean. Grounds were well maintained. Staff were helpful.

Response from Sarah Hellessey, Owner at Great Ocean Road Tourist Park
Responded 8 Sept 2022
Thank you for your review, and thank you for choosing Great Ocean Road Tourist Park for your "half way stopover" stay. Just wanted to clarify that all our Deluxe, Spa & Riverfront cabins (Superior cabins) have couches in the lounge area. We can therefore only assume that you booked one of our Standard Ensuite cabins, which do not have couches (this is clear on our website and all online bookings sites). We would have been happy to show you alternative accommodation if you let us know you were not happy with the cabin booked. However, we were pleased to read that the bed was comfy, you found our facilities clean and our staff were helpful. Happy travels!

The cabins, while quaint and unassuming on the exterior, are surprisingly comfortable, tidy and spacious. I had the most uninterrupted sleep during my stay which is an essential element of travel on road. The reception staff were courteous, friendly and very helpful throughout my interaction with them. The internet was surprisingly fast and steady. I would recommend this place for anyone traveling through the Great Ocean Road.

We stayed during winter in a camper. Wendy the host was amazing and would do anything for you. Great location. Great ammenities. Very clean. Games room and kitchen was neat and useable. I had mentioned I wanted to watch the state if origin rugby. Wendy not only tuned in the tv in the games room to the channel, she walked down and let me know it was all set. Nothing but praise.

Was our first caravan park we stayed in for our travels, friendly staff and loved how they allowed dogs, even though we left ours behind. Lovely walks along the beach and had tea - take away at local pub - meals were delicious. Great place to base yourself to sightsee, 12 apostles & Port Campbell. We will be back.

Decided to celebrate regional lockdown end with weekend blitz adventure of Great Ocean Road. Booked a riverside cabin (no. 11) for our Saturday afternoon/night. Kids had a great time paddling around the safe estuary of Curdies River. Cabin had delightful porch with view. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Friendly hosts and great base to explore area.

While we arrived later in the day and left early we were very impressed with this caravan park. Great location beside the river just upstream from the ocean so the roar of the waves were always present in the background. Big thumbs up for the very clean facilities and guest kitchen etc. I would imagine in peak time you would need to book but we were thankful to find a dog friendly park that was along our planned route. Very convenient pub across the road when you didn't feel like cooking and don't miss the closeby lookouts for spectacular views of the coast.

Great location, right next to the pub (which was quiet) and served nice meals and good prices. Friendly helpful staff, clean amenities & hot showers. Awesome for families with kids. With trampoline and basketball court. Would stay again

We spent a lovely weekend here. This park is perfect for children, with lots of outdoor activities and a great indoor games/tv/kitchen dining room. The park is very quiet and the river inlet is perfect for children. After lots of activities during the day, it was lovely to sit by an open fire in the evening and reflect on our day. We stayed in a cabin which was well equipped. We’ll definitely return.
