Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for two night’s excellent apartment room very clean and spacious throughout. Good location for walking around Paynesville nice and quiet as it was winter season which meant Lot of places and restaurants were closed.

These apartments are spacious and well equipped. They’re townhouses. Everything you could need was supplied including the kitchen and laundry. We received a text to let us know that the apartment was ready for check in early so we didn’t need to wait around until 3 which was great. The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms and kitchen very clean. The furniture and skirting boards were a bit dusty but the units are in good condition for their age. Information on what to do and where to go in the area was provided. There are two lovely decks to sit on, one on each floor and it nice to see all the birds on the water ( you will wake to the birds in the morning). My only concern would be the need to be very vigilant if you have small children due to the proximity to the water but I don’t have any so I’ll be back !

All the apartments (which are more like small villas) are very slightly different but all face a pretty, small marina area. We were in the very end one and it was very clean, spacious and comfortable. It was tastefully decorated, generally well equipped and a lovely place to stay. We loved the downstairs deck area and the upstairs balcony, with their lovely views. It is well situated for the Lakes area. We enjoyed seeing the koalas nearby and the Sunset Bay walk. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay here.

Excellent place to stay, the apartment was very clean and tidy and had everything you need to make you comfortable, and of course with a jetty to the water right in your back yard was fantastic. The views were great and unspoilt. Plenty of space for parking your cars and boat trailers, and with your own jetty you can tie up and enjoy stepping out into your own boat.

What a beautiful weekend! Perfect weather and having the deck out the front of our apartment was magical. We sat and enjoyed the view all weekend. It was such a peaceful place to stay. Love love the beds. We visited sardine restaurant which was incredible. Hiring a boat and exploring the Lakes was well worth it too. We will definitely be back. Thanks to the staff for giving us lots of tips on places to visit.

I had high expectations from the price and the photos. In reality, the "resort" is disappointing. the apartment itself was lovely and the view was nice, but the facilities are very poor. the pool, which we were really looking forward to, was murky and cloudy with cracks in the bottom. my children found it very unpleasant. it is marketed as being heated, but it was cold, I could not get in at all and the kids did not stay in long. the tennis Court and basketball ring are combined, so if people were playing tennis, the kids could not play basketball and vice versa. we hoped to use the kayaks a lot as this was a main enticement for us, but they are very expensive to use and we certainly did not get our moneys worth. it would have been great if we could have used them a lot more, but the cost is prohibitive. you cant just go for a little paddle in the morning and evening, you have to pay for 3 hours each time... and if there is no one at the reception, you cant access the vests and paddles, so you are limited to when there is someone there. it is a great shame, for the price of accommodation, and particularly with the pool being so unpleasant, the use of kayaks could have been complimentary. unfortunately we had neighbours on each night who were noisy, or smoking and drinking. the private jetties are not actually private, they are shared. the people beside us were sitting on theirs drinking and smoking and swearing which meant that we could not use ours. I had been looking forward to walking along the pictured boardwalk, but it is not very long. we decided to swim at the "beach" at the foreshore ... it is not a very nice walk and then on arrival, it is not something that you would let your children swim in. it is not pleasant. we walked into the Main Street (the esplanade) each day, it is about a ten minute walk along the streets. there is a beach there. Raymond island is fantastic, and the bikes are terrific fun. we had hoped to hire a boat but found it difficult to organise unfortunately. Captains Cove is the most expensive place that we have ever stayed at, I wanted to splash out and stay somewhere fancy. it is not fancy. we have stayed at much better places than this, that have been a lot less money. this is not worth the amount of money that we paid. very disappointing for that price. it would not take much to improve the experience - fix up the pool, have the kayaks more accessible, have the basketball ring not on the tennis court. something to block the neighbours view onto the balcony would be nice too,

Very nice and clean and well presented appartments. Self contained, we were only a one night stop over and suited us very well. Full kitchen, great views, right on the marina with your own pier if required. Private carport parking at your front door, sort walk to marina club for dinner. Would suit a family or even a group of friends for a getaway, would love to spend the week there.

It was my first time, going to Paynesville,so I only knew a little bit about Paynesville..When I booked,I felt not sure.. But when I came to the villa and their area,I thought ..thanks God,i had already booked this villa Really nice and beautiful place, with its private river/lake in front of Captains Cove area..we could play kayak in front of the villa, and play with swans,birds..really exciting place. The villa itself (i booked number 26) was very modern, clean, had three bedrooms, kitchen, washing machine,dryer..and you could drive 5 minutes to Esplanade ,the main restaurants area in Paynesville..

The apartment was kept immaculately clean. The view from both levels of the apartment could not be matched, and it was very relaxing looking out at the canal from The Views three-bedroom waterfront apartment. The greatest highlight was warm afternoon sunlight streaming beautifully in and heating up the apartment in winter. Kayaks were available to hire for rowing down the calm canal. The indoor pool was practically just outside the front door of the apartment and was kept very clean. The hosts were incredibly friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Private bbq on back deck provided. Free Wi-Fi along with games and books for entertainment when the sun went down.
