WELCOME TO WOOLRICH RETREAT In Woolrich's historic five-acre woodlands you will find our two luxury retreats where guests will enjoy the very best accommodations available in the Dandenong Ranges. Privacy, open fires, spas, ensuites, decks with BBQs overlooking the gardens and free entry to Cloudehill Gardens next door. Walk, laze by the fire, relax in the spa or soak in the view with a glass of wine. The perfect Yarra Valley & Dandenong Ranges getaway. WOOLRICH COTTAGE Built in the 1920s, the cottage's Art Deco features have been retained and restored to create this elegant accommodation. Fine furniture complements the period architectural features such as the Art Deco leadlight windows. The cottage includes two bedrooms with large ensuites, so two couples can enjoy equal luxury as well as an indoor, four person Jacuzzi hot tub under a glass skylight. The lounge room has an open fire, and a bay window with dining table. The kitchen has granite bench tops and a farmhouse sink. French doors open up onto a deck with a BBQ and outdoor furniture for alfresco dining with garden and mountain views. GARDEN RETREAT In French Provence style, the Garden Retreat is perfect for one couple with its king-size bed and double spa (separate shower). Miele appliances in the kitchen, leadlight windows, in the bathroom and bedroom, TV with Foxtel and DVD and a lovely open wood fire in the cosy lounge room makes this an experience to remember. Outside, the balcony, complete with BBQ, and art deco table and chairs sits at the edge of a canopy of trees. Walk down the steps next to your retreat and open the gate to Cloudehill Gardens or go the other way into the Woolrich Woodlands with its meandering paths, lyrebirds, azalea maze and the dell. OLINDA VILLAGE Olinda is one of the major villages of the hills. It is close to the winery district of Yarra Valley and Puffing Billy, a steam train which goes to Emerald. It is the centre of many famous gardens. Just along the road is the National Rhododendron Garden, there are many other national and private gardens which are open to the public. You can go and pick raspberries and strawberries in season, visit the trout farm, or see William Rickett's sanctuary where he created sculptures honouring the aborigines. It is a delight to shop in the villages which is full of all kinds of shops with unusual things for sale.

Detailed Reviews
We cannot speak too highly of our long weekend in Olinda at the Woolrich Retreat. Mary and Ches are excellent hosts and very obliging with any little request. The generous provisions they provide are of the highest quality and are more than enough for breakfast each morning plus a welcome bottle of good sparkling wine and a carafe of port.
The Retreat is attached to the main house but the entrance is independent and the outlook from the balcony over the garden is delightful. There is a small barbecue on the verandah if you want to dine al fresco.Perfect in the summer months. It is all so quiet,it is hard to believe there is a main road nearby. The garden is filled with hydrangeas of all colours and the property borders on the beautiful Cloudhill Gardens which you can visit without paying the usual entrance fee.
A delightful lounge room with a good television and a wonderful comfortable bedroom(outstanding bedding) and very good bathroom with spa.Who could ask for anything more. We look forward to coming again in the winter months.
A 2 or 3 minute walk to the main road takes you to an elegant Chinese restaurant-the Olinda Tea House-we had an excellent dinner there. It is perhaps an unfortunate name for an Asian restaurant in The Dandenongs where one expects a teahouse to be serving a Devonshire Tea.Whatever,it is well worth a visit. We also dined at the beautiful Coonarra Springs restaurants 5 minute drive away along the Monbul-Olinda Road. Outstanding dinner there as well.
In all we had a marvellous weekend at the Woolrich Retreat and as regular weekend swayers this is amongst the best places we have stayed inland only an hour or so from Melbourne in breathtaking surroundings. Woolrich Retreat is only a 10 minute walk from Olinda township.

We stayed in woolrich retreat for 3 nights and loved our time there. It had one large bedroom and a separate living and kitchen area. We have a 1 year old and they provided a cot which made the stay possible. The breakfast provisions were amazing and the chocolates on the side tables were a nice touch. There was a fruit bowl, a bottle of champagne and even a carafe of port ready on arrival.
Mary was very helpful when we had questions but we had the place to ourselves which was nice. The apartment was very secluded which was really nice. So secluded that we had a little troubpe finding the entrance at first! The scenery from the balcony was beautiful and there were no signs of people or roads.
We visited the garden next door which has a back entrance so was nice to walk around in the morning.
The town of olinda was only about 5 mins drive away so facilities and shops were close by. There is even a classy Chinese restaurant at the top of the drive. We didn't eat there but would be nice for a couples night out.
Overall a great place to stay and we would definitely recommend.

We spent last weekend at Woolrich Cottage to celebrate a significant wedding anniversary. The accommodation was a charming cottage in the scenic Dandenong Ranges close to the celebrated Cloudehill Gardens and walking distance to the Olinda Tea House. Other Olinda attractions are a short drive away.
We enjoyed walking through the gardens, National Park areas, but just as much sitting on the deck surrounded by lush trees and gardens, or sitting in the bay window with its view up the Yarra Valley. The music system provided great selections, but we didn't need to use the TV or video.
The cottage will accommodate 2 couples, but we had the place to ourselves and enjoyed soaking in the Jacuzzi, drinking in the views, or just relaxing in this old-world style retreat. The kitchen is well appointed if you want to do you own food preparation, and our hosts provided generous breakfast supplies to get us started.
This place is quiet, peaceful and relaxing and we enjoyed the serenity .

We have stayed here about 4 times over the years. Usually everything is great. But this time -
BBQ was absolutely filthy.
Cobwebs throughout kitchen and living areas in corners,
Rangehood didn't work,
Tap handle fell off in the shower,
Door to bbq area needs maintenance on the lock -very hard to unlock.
No tissues.
Breakfast provisions scant compared to other stays (bacon/eggs)
Only 1 x red wine glass.
Paper towels supplied were 2 x partial rolls, not really enough when staying 3 nights.
Tried to contact owners, rather than give a negative review, however, Email bounces back. Land line disconnected. Mobile number on web site goes to previous owner.

The host - Erin certainly knows how to deliver exceptional customer experience and service. Nothing was an ever a bother, if you had a question or needed anything Erin was easily contactable.
We absolutely loved the amazing ambiance of Woolrich Historic Cottage. The cottage was neatly presented and clean. The beds and pillows were the most comfortable we have ever experienced.
The added touch of having the breakfast basket included in the accommodation price was value for money.
Yes, I would absolutely stay again and highly recommend Woolrich Historic Cottage.

We stayed in the Garden Retreat for 2 nights after our wedding and it was the best choice. It's such a quiet, peaceful place - you feel like you're in a world of your own. The first morning we were greeted with a lyrebird putting on a very impressive show and we were even lucky enough to spy said bird when we went for a wander through the gardens later that day. We splashed out and got the massage package added, which was a great choice - well worth it. The breakfast basket provided, along with the mini fridge containing the essentials, meant we were well-stocked for a couple of nice breakfasts.
Erin and Liam had surprised us by putting rose petals and some lovely chocolates on the bed after we'd mentioned our stay was following our wedding, which was a very kind surprise.
I'm sure we'll be back to visit whenever we're craving a bit of a break from things!

Love the cottage..good to be back. Not wanting in anything and the view from the deck is spectacular! Surrounding gardens a joy to explore. Full kitchen; spoilt with supplies, country bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, muesli, milk and freshly baked bread. Good beds and wifi. Speedy communication with owners, all questions answered promptly, so thank you Erin! Will be back to enjoy the Woolrich hospitality.

We had a lovely stay over the weekend.
We enjoyed listening to the birds 🐦 sing their songs, looked at the magnificent tree view, enjoyed the walks. Loved the open fire 🔥, hearing the crackles of wood burning and the welcoming warmth of it, we also enjoyed our breakfast provisions and enjoyed the big spa bath.
Such a wonderful place to enjoy a weekend of rest and relaxation, such beautiful surroundings 😀

We had the most wonderful stay at woolrich cottage. It's so well appointed and spacious. Erin was a great host, available for any of our queries. The cherry on top was the hot tub, we went in every morning and night. Such a peaceful cottage, you felt like you'd stepped back in time.
Really enjoyed our stay!

Hi Sam
The 28th is free in the cottage. The cost is $390 for two people and that includes gourmet breakfast provisions, a bottle of bubbly and free entry to Cloudehill. If there are more than two of you, the cost for each person is $40 each.. If you want to book this, you should contact me on 9751 0154 as there is a two night minimum on the site.
Best wishes Mary
