Sleep Quality
We have two properties in the picturesque Olinda village. One with our romantic cottages for couples and the other for families and groups. We can sleep 22 ppl so it's also perfect for wedding groups and close to lots of the wedding venues up here. The cottage gardens are fern filled and established, luscious wonderlands, a different world to the city and suburbs. Each cottage is self-contained and private and has outdoor decks/balconies as well has well appointed interiors. Open fires, spas and baths add to the experience. We are walking distance (500m) to the boutique shops, cafes and restaurants - so many to choose from too. The Yarra Valley and wineries are a hop, skip and a jump (in the car) or you can get a private tour from here. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway or a family break, we can help you plan your trip. Our day spa ellenaturaleolinda is also just a short stroll away.

We loved the antique look of everything and admire the skill needed to make The Mills cottage look so great and still be functional. Breakfast was provided by having bread, eggs, sliced meat, cereals, jams, musli, milk, juice and yogurt stocked in the kitchen and fridge. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils for preparing breakfast. The fact that the stove is old and lovely, just made us want to use it for nothing other than the experience with it. Smoking is allowed outside where ashtrays are provided. The heater worked well and the water was very hot. Be careful or you may scorch yourself when washing. We tried several times and many different ways but we were never able to contact the hosts, neither on arrival nor upon leaving. We don’t know if it was our US phone not being able to dial, but we got different messages each time. The red phone in the courtyard didn’t work. The nearby town is lovely.

We stayed 2 nights in the Lavender Cottage.
An amazing hills experience.
The cottage is perfectly located to feel very private, but also literally only a minutes walk to all the main street has to offer.
I was delighted with Lavender Cottage from the moment I drove into the driveway. A gorgeous private garden with plenty of character surrounds the front of the property.
Walking up to the front door, you can feel all your worries start to leave you and upon opening the door, you are immediately swept back to a time with less daily pressures.
The entire cottage is filled with olde worlde charm from the open fireplace, the original 1930’s Metters gas stove, the timber details and the 1920’s hot water system in the bathroom.
The kitchen has a microwave, large fridge, toaster, kettle, gas stove, oven and plenty of basic cooking items.
The breakfast provisions were fantastic and included fresh sliced bread, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, baked beans, juice, a variety of cereals & muesli. There was also plenty of tea and coffee too.
The fire is ready to start with a cute bundle of newspaper containing firelighters & kindling. There was a great amount of fire wood provided and the wood is topped up everyday in the outside basket for that night.
There are 2 bedrooms in this cottage. One downstairs off the kitchen with a desk & double bed and a large one upstairs with a queen sized bed.
The bathroom is also located upstairs as an ensuite and has a big 2 person corner spa bath. Bubble bath is also provided.
Off the upstairs bedroom is a small deck with a table & chairs. Perfect for a cuppa or glass of wine. This deck overlooks the garden.
We spent our entire stay just loving this cottage. It just feels so homey and comfortable and was exactly the type of rest we needed.
Melinda, the owner, was great with communication and answered any questions we had.
I also recommend booking a couples massage at Elle Naturale in main street. This really added to our overall goal of relaxation.
Como Cottages provide an experience, not just accommodation. We will definitely be back!

Let me start by disclosing my association with Como Cottages
I have been going to Olinda for close to 35 years and 30 of those have been at Como. It was a very small group of Cottages and Brett was loving in one on site while building and restoring the rest his focus was laser guided on giving his guests an experience as well as somewhere memorable i have returned often staying in different cottages as well as the main houses he has scattered throughout the village. We spent time during Mothers day at the Cotswold and I say this with my hand on my heart it is still one of the best experiences you will ever have clean warm. welcoming. Everything you need for a good couple days is provided. Close to sasafrass or the Yarra Valley. Puffing Billy. I could keep going on you are doing a disservice if you do not visit Brett and his wonderful Cottages.

I went to Como Cottages for a short visit and ended up staying for three months! The guys here a extremely welcoming. Brett, Melinda, and Sarah laid on 5***** hospitality.
I stayed in Caretakers Cottage and then Garden Cottage, both cottages are extremely comfortable, with everything you could possibly need for your stay. They also provide a lot of extras, breakfast, fresh eggs, butter, spreads, fresh milk and bread, plus lots more.
The Garden Cottage was amazing, extra large rolltop bath, open fire for cold evenings, and an amazing deck overlooking the fantastic gardens, and still remains private.
The supermarket is super close, with a bottleshop, and some cute cafe's and restaurants within a short walk.
There are some beautiful walks all around Olinda, Mathias trail and the Botanical Gardens were my favourites.
I would highly++ recommend Como Cottages for a long or short stay.
Como Cottages are only a easy 40 minute drive from Melbourne city, and I'll be back there very soon for my next break.
Thank you Brett, Melinda and Sarah for my best holiday ever!

The cottage had everything we needed . It was warm and wonderful each day , within a lovely garden setting and just a walk to the pretty little town or to the old English pub or to the many forest walks . The hosts were great , very kind and helpful . Our grandkids loved the big spa bath and sitting in front of the big fireplace . Can’t wait to return.

My partner and I enjoyed an extended long weekend staying in the Como Cottage. Location was great, walking distance to food and shopping, and only a short day trip into the Yarra Valley. We were disappointed that we couldn’t use the fireplace as by March the evenings were starting to cool down and it would’ve added a nice atmosphere to our nights in.
The cottage was clean and very comfortable, a nice range of breakfast items were included, but not quite enough for our entire stay.
Thank you.

This is our second time staying here. Both times have been lovely. We stayed in the caretakers cottage. A small warm cosy room with a stunning surrounding view of the garden right next to your bed.
Very accommodating with providing breakfast and with extra’s including in the room. Brett is very friendly, nothing is too much to accommodate.
My partner and I are looking forward to coming again and stay in the other cottages in the future. Definitely recommend.

I would NEVER recommend Como Cottages to ANYONE! Not that we stayed there - we didn't get the chance. I would never recommend this because of the treatment we received before we were even due to arrive. 5 days before I planned to take my pregnant partner here for a 'celebratory' getaway, my partner had a miscarriage due to an ectopic pregnancy. Due to the complications that followed, she was in too much pain to travel. I called up Como Cottages and spoke to Brett, explained our situation and asked for a refund. Brett then went on to explain that they are only a small business and the only way they were able to refund the booking was if someone else would take over the booking. The cottage was re-advertised and Brett said he would call if someone was to take over the booking. Brett texted back (not even a phone call!) and advised that no one had taken over and therefore the $455.50 deposit was taken out of my account. This is absolutely disgraceful customer service. We were even happy to provide medical certificates from the hospital to validate our story. I honestly don't know how these people can live with themselves, it's disgusting and they should be ashamed. Would never, ever, EVER recommend this place to anyone. DO NOT STAY HERE!

We recently stayed in the largest of the cottages, which was lovely.. Six of us girls and had a ball. The house was lovely, plenty breakfast supply's, not enough toilet paper (6 girls) 2 rolls per day, Melinda would just pop in, no warning, and just let herself in which we thought was a little rude.. She also said that we used to much toilet paper... Sorry we paid almost $1000 for a two night stay... Wouldn't think that asking for a few extra rolls of loo paper would be such a big deal....We had a great time but the rudeness of Melinda was very disapointing....Make sure you lock your doors if you stay, we won't be back....

Beautiful accommodation in a fantastic location, however extremely pricy for what you are receiving in return, worth it once but wouldn't pay the money again.

P.S. to the owners, at these prices I don't expect to have to wash my own dishes or incur a fee.
