Overall, place was extremely nice. We enjoyed a great long weekend. Rooms are excellent with nice open floor to ceiling windows into the surrounding treetops. Great bath/spa, open fire, etc. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend to others. Only few points to watch - we arrived late at night and it was rainy & dark. We drove down a wrong path and our car got bogged in mud. The area to park in/find your room in not well signposted or lit and there is nobody there to meet you on arrival late (instead you get a code to key into a pod to access your keys - which we thought was a bit odd). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in getting help for us to get our car free the next morning. $30 breakfast voucher at nearby cafe is OK, but you don't

The website’s images of Lochiel did a stellar job of enticing us just enough to make a booking, but not enough to rob us of being wowed when we walked in through that front door. It was cosy cabin meets luxury apartment and I couldn’t have been happier to call the original cabin at Lochiel home for a night. It offered all the little touches of a five-star hotel, but set in the heart of the Dandenongs, with the sweetest log fire, it was the intimate country retreat I had been searching for. Having said that, it was in fact large enough to play an impromptu round of hide n seek. Granted, we found each other within one minute, but this is more a reflection of our weak hiding/strong finding abilities, than of the amazing space. I also happened to indulge in a little review

My partner and I recently stayed at Tri-tops cottage 1 for a romantic weekend away. It was such an amazing weekend, Alan made it extremely easy and personalized the guest experience for us. The heater was already on upon arrival which was a really nice touch, and we where welcomed with complimentary champagne and lollies from a local store. The cottage was super clean with a modern bathroom (very spacious), kitchen and lounge area. We felt at home and at ease instantly. We where also provided with vouchers for their restaurant 'Ranges Cafe' who had the best 'Smashed Avo' ever (Melbournians would understand how common this Breakfast item is). I would defiantly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday whether it be with your partner or with friends. It

The stairs down to the 3 level cottage are not very slippery and at night there are no lights to show you the way, i slipped and hurt my arm , after talking to management they did not care at all, we would not go here again or tell other people of this Accommodation.

Response from LochielOwner, Manager at Lochiel Luxury Accommodation
Responded 30 July 2015
Thank you for your feedback regarding your Gift Voucher Stay. We provide outdoor lights at each cottage, which can be turned when leaving your cottage, along with security lighting; we also provide torches for your comfort at night in each cottage for walking in the area , we not sure whether you took advantage of the torch, it help when walking from your cottage in the dark, we on purpose do not have the cottages lit up like a city apartment. As we are located in a rain forest setting boardwalks can get occasionally slippery with heavy rain and when you stayed we had a lot of rain that night. We do high-pressure clean our decks regularly to help prevent any slip issues We are glad you enjoyed our unique rain forest setting and at the same time being so close to the Olinda Village. Regards Lochiel

A most Romantic Getaway. Private tri-level luxury accommodation. Spa bath, modern kitchen and living area with wood fireplace. Luxurious bedroom with private balcony overlooking the serene rainforest scenery. Customer Service excellent - Alans' hospitatlity exceeded our expectations during our stay. Scrumptious on the house breakfasts at their Ranges Cafe / Restaurant and delectable meals in the evening. Lots of shops including arts and crafts. Loved our stay and planning to get back there very soon. Anita and Gavin

My family and I were very pleased with this accomodation. It is located in a lovely spot amongst nature, on a large property. The house was lovely and spacious with a lot of natural light. It had a large beautiful balcony with a nice view where we saw deers and kookaburra's. The rooms were a good size, robes were provided and the spa was awesome!! Plenty of cupboard space with lots of crockery and glasswear. Overall, highly recommended. :) :)

Stayed at the original cottage as with my parents and we wanted two bedrooms. Very nice to find lollies and wine on arrival, with welcoming lamps and heating on as it was pretty cool. The cottage was very well furnished with everything that could be needed to self cater or just use it as a base. There were three bedrooms, one on suite, and a bathroom, kitchen dining and living on the ground floor with a fantastic deck, with a further bedroom downstairs for larger groups. The amount of glassware and crockery was a delight with sufficient quantities of matching glasses - sparkling, red and white wine, tumblers etc. As there was a dishwasher we didn't hold back using them! We saw cockatoos and deer from the deck which looks out into the trees but with grassed areas leading

We stayed in the main cottage largely because we wanted three bedroom accommodation. The cottage was very clean and in a beautiful location in the Dandenong Mountains. Off the very large rear balcony we saw lots of wild life such as deer and beautiful native birds. The cottage is set amongst beautiful huge old trees and beautiful flowering shrubs. Each morning we were allocated Vouchers to use at nearby Ranges cafe for breakfast. The breakfast on the balcony at Rangers was lovely. The cottage was modern and clean however the third bedroom and what I believe was a second bathroom were locked for our stay. This was a bit annoying considering the amount we paid per night and also that we were not told that we would only be able to access a certain part of the cottage and not the

7 of us stayed in the Original Cottage. Having stayed here before I expected the same high standards. Good accommodation and great views. Seeing the deer and native birds up close was lovely. The downside was the shower leaking in the main en suite - floor was flooded and bathmat soaked after a very quick shower. If the edges where raised it would fix this problem. Also the table was a lot smaller than last time. You could only fit 4 people around it comfortably. Price wise for $1400 for the two nights I expect not to have these issues. The breakfast voucher was a great idea but the restaurant was of a poor standard. Food was okay at best and service was slack. I ended up waiting an extra 15mins after everyone else had their meal. Overall a lovely place but a few issues
