Absolutely heartbroken, for my 50th birthday I received a gift voucher for lochiel luxury accommodation. I booked two night , paying myself for the second night, which they deducted from my credit card 10 days prior to our stay. When we arrived on the Friday night he had double booked. So no accommodation for us. He promised to call me on the Saturday to confirm what had happened and sort the issue out. By 3pm I had not received a call so I rang several times but no answer. On Sunday I emailed and text but the email was returned and no reply to the text message. It is now a couple of weeks ago and still absolutely no response. I’m down nearly $800 and no service provided! Disgusting behavior from this business and a heart broken customer! I have emailed consumer affairs and and contacted my bank.

Our stay at Lochiel was comfortable, though somewhat lacklustre. Perhaps when Lochiel first opened years ago, it was considered to be luxury; however, now it is arguably ‘standard’. We stayed in the one-floor cottage. It was peaceful, and we slept well. The wood fire heater was fantastic, adding to the cosy ambience, and had been set before our arrival. Alan was very accommodating and communicative about our arrival. Disappointingly however was the general appointment of the cottage. The blinds were very dirty, there were cracked tiles around the fireplace, the couch was in a state of disrepair, the oven greasy and dirty, and the windows looked as though they had not been cleaned for months. There’s also no door or screen between the bedroom and the bathroom, and one can see the toilet from the bed. Being luxury (and paying luxury prices), It would have been nice to have fresh milk instead of UHT, and a coffee machine with pods rather than instant. I do understand that Lochiel is a business, though given the standard of other luxury accommodation around in the area, it falls short. With closer attention to detail, replacement and inclusion of items, it could easily become the luxurious getaway it advertises itself to be.

We stayed in the treetops guest house cottage. On arrival there was an overpowering smell of mould which we discovered was coming from a room with damp dumped towels left in it.. the room was pleasant but beware no toilet door in here at all.. eg no privacy.. Then of course there was no doona on the bed but two sheets with the doona in between. And then to top it off there was three blood stains on the doona.. Not exactly COVID clean.. i contacted the owner no response!! I would not recommend staying here if you are concerned about any health and safety... we paid 400.00 AUD per night for this.

The actual cottage was lovely and facilities were nice. But this place has terrible communication and a lack of good costumer service. I had to change my booking and the person who I talked to on the phone was clueless about what was possible and assured me they would call back the next day to confirm, didnt call back so I called back and then was again told they would contact me via email that day which again didnt happen. I had to call 3 days in a row and email (which was never replied to) until they could give me a straight awnser. I was then charged a different price to what I booked. Also the booking implied breakfast included but we received a $30 voucher for breakfast for 2 people? Which barely covered half of what the breakfasts cost at the cafe. And if you also order coffee with that its even more. Location was lovely and the place was fairly clean but they lacked customer service which really sucks because the place has good potenial and you oay a decent amount to stay.

We stayed in the original cottage, must have had recent upgrade compared to a few older reviews as it was beautiful. So spacious and we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. Only downfall was breakfast is at ranges cafe/restaurant where we were given a voucher of $45 for the 3 of us. It’s misleading to say breakfast included as you don’t get much for $15 each so of coarse you go for the better breakfasts on order instead of having 1 piece if toast and a coffee. After 1 hour of waiting for our breakfast we did indulge in what was in the menu and was delicious and paid our extra cash. The cafe was so loud we couldn’t hear each other speak, don’t know whether it was a bit echoey but we all couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Amazing secluded location only a few minutes walk from the centre of Olinda. Stayed for 2 nights in the one of the 3 guesthouses, nestled amongst the trees. Spread over 3 levels, it was well appointed with a contemporary fitout. Also enjoyed the fire on the cold nights, though was also centrally heated. Service was quick, helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

After visiting for years myself and friends still think this gem is a wonderful getaway in Olinda. Only a stroll from Olinda and the property boasts stand alone feel with large spa bathrooms . There always seem to be a lot of wildlife on the property and staff are always helpful and accommodating. Would recommend for that unique Olinda experience.

Great place among the trees, as it had two levels it worked perfectly with sleep time with our little one. Short walk from local cafes, shops and restaurant. Wood fire made it lovely (weather was starting to get cold)

Stayed in Treetops #1. I arrived to see a lovely little cottage. I was a little concerned as the exterior needs an ungraded. But you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover... Inside was a warm, modern cottage, nestled amongst the Treetops. Forest views from each of the balconies. I found the interior clean, modern and comfortable. The bathroom is large, clean and has an enormous spa bath. Lovely array of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower cap, etc provided. Modern kitchen has all you need including oven, four-burner cooktop, small refrigerator and microwave oven. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar provided. Plus a toaster and kettle. Top floor bedroom is spacious and has a small wardrobe. Extra blanket too. Living space has a large couch, wood burning fire (extra wood undercover at front door) and a TV, DVD with surround sound. There are a few DVDs too. Vouchers for local cafe breakfast were provided. Wifi available but no code was left to access. King sized bed was a little uncomfortable. Suggest you bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in, as many of the architectural windows do not have window dressings, just views of the trees. Woken by a chorus of Aussie birds, including kookaburras, currawongs and cockatoos.
