Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This review is long overdue. I stayed here, at Camelot Tower, in February of 2016. I was tackling an ultramarathon at Mount Dandenong (Roller Coaster Run). The husband was lovely enough to pick me up from the train station and show me the Lookout before I settled into my huge room the night before the race. I was unable to find anywhere to stay after the race that would be in my backpacker price range. I dreaded the long trek back to Melbourne with my big pack on tired legs. The couple offered to have me stay in a smaller room, not typically open to guests, out of the kindness of their hearts. This was my first stop of a 3-month backpacking trip around the world. I cannot have imagined a better way to cross the finish line of the race and cross the starting line of my journey. I want to thank you both for simply being the beautiful couple that you are!

Me and my girlfriend Alicia stayed and instantly felt at home once we arrived. Ophelia was more than helpful and deserves a lot of recognition for the good service provided. This place is a hidden gem to stay at and I recommend it to everyone else.

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and couldn't have picked a more stunning setting. Right from the start as you enter the premises you're blown away by the beauty of the surrounding area and the building itself. Fantastic views over Port Philip Bay and lush greenery outside and inside a superbly appointed and relaxing environment. Ophelia was very attentive and communicated everything clearly and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived and throughout the remainder of our stay. All in all, a wonderful place to stay, would highly recommend.

Ophelia, the care taker, was wonderful. She introduced me to the owner before showing my Cousin and I, through the entire penthouse. The interior was full of antiques, which gave the place a nice colonial feel. Upstairs had a balcony with 180 degree views of surrounding forests, Melbourne and the nearby gardens. Highly recommend having a look during; sunrise, sunset and late at night for breathtaking picturesque moments. The main bathroom had a large spa bath which was easy to use and rather spacious. Breakfast was lovely, and served to us by the owner himself. Overall, a very lovely experience and highly recommended.

Stumbled across this Master place and loved the ambience. Stayed in the standard room as we just turned up at the door after an afternoon drive on the tourist route. The Architecture in the Camelot and Penthouse rooms looked amazing. Maybe next time! Had a great dinner at Kelly's Bar and kitchen with some great music in front of the fireplace! Looking forward to coming back for a getaway from the Melbourne bustle!

We loved our weekend at Camelot Tower and Penthouse. The hosts Ross and Ophelia were lovely and welcoming. We felt like we had stepped back in time and become Royalty. The breakfast was fantastic. The spa in the penthouse is the biggest I have ever seen, and the hand carved spiral staircase is very impressive. I would love to return and stay in the tower next time. The place was immaculately kept, with nice touches like a fresh fruit platter and juices in the fridge.

The whole place and setting was brilliant!!! Loved the interiors! Loved the exterior! Defo going back there again! And greeted with cooked brekkie in the morning (included in the price of the room)! A fully stocked pantry with all kinds of coffee and tea, bread, butter and jam and milk! The only couple of things I have to give feedback on is the huge spider in the room. Seeing as this cosy place is nestled within a lot of greenery, it would be good to get it pest controlled, just to give some of us arachnophobics some peace:) and secondly would be good to invest in a good mattress as both my husband and I woke with neck and back pains. Otherwise it was just heavenly!
