This is a good budget hotel. The staff were very friendly staff. Good room facilities, small kitchenette including microwave, kettle, fridge & crockery. An older style hotel but clean & quiet. Close to the beach. Includes a pool which we didn't use.

Came with the family on a stinking hot weekend, to swim at the surf beach during the day then to relax in the motel pool later. Very disappointed to learn that the pool hours were from 10am-7pm and anyone using it outside these hours would be required to leave the motel (or words to similar effect in the guest guide book in the room). 7pm - really? - on summer nights when it doesn't darken until 9pm? And the children were disappointed they couldn't go for a not-too-early swim. Most accommodations with pools have hours from around 8am to 9-10pm. Furthermore, the rooms back onto the pool area, and is a nice place for sitting and having a drink. But there is another rule that guests aren't allowed outside their room in this area after 10pm!!! I can understand that they don't want rowdy groups, but surely they can just state this (with the risk of eviction for such cases) and allow guests to enjoy the facilities they paid for. Truly, it felt like we were on a school camp! On a positive side, the rooms were modern, and having them all back onto the pool area was good. But the rules did detract greatly from our stay, particularly as we explicitly chose a place with a pool (that we were barely able to use). Management, please consider a change (particularly in daylight saving months) - the rules are over restrictive.

Took a small group to Ocean Grove & stayed at The Riverside Motel for 4 nights. The service was truly amazing. The owners Elise & Michael, who are the friendliest couple, went above and beyond, to ensure everyone's needs were met & then some. The units were so very comfortable & the continental breakfasts so very generous. Thanks Elise, Michael & our wonderful tour guide & driver Neville. Exemplary service & always with the happiest of smiles. Julie - Eltham Senior Citizens.

This modest motel is ultra clean and well maintained but is grossly over priced for what get. And calling the rooms suites seemed a little over the top. The suites are just like an average motel room with some stuff to help self catering ie plates and knives and a small balcony overlooking a family swimming pool. Also I found the regulations of this establishment excessive and intimidatng. Although the "suites" had an air conditioner I would have preferred to have more than one window to open.

When we arrived we opened the door of the room and instantly smelt urine. I couldn’t pin point where the smell was coming from but it was in the room somewhere. There were a couple of brown stains on the bed sheets. The silicon sealing was mouldy and falling out of the shower around the base. The pool was absolutely disgusting. It was brown water, slimy mould all through it and even miss growing in it. For $170 a night, it was an absolute rip off.

My partner went to a lot of effort to suprise me with a night out, locally, with a spa etc.
We checked in at 6 and then at about 8.30pm a baby next door started crying and cried for about 1.5hrs. The walls are quite thin and it was wrecking our 'romantic' (not that we blamed the baby at all)...so we called the reception desk in the hope to move rooms as we couldn't sleep or relax.
From KEN we were met with such hostility for having the audacity to call him. I think he was drunk, as he said he was out wiht mates and and would have come down and that he had kids and babies dont cry all night and basically told us to get over it. I said that wasn't good enough and asked to move rooms to which he said to call him back in 15 mins and then he would come and speak to the people in the next room. I suggested it wasn't their fault as it was a baby and after a very muddled discussion, I told him to call me back as it was HIS job not mine and we went back to our room. When we got back the baby was crying and not thinking anything was going to be done we packed up and left (as we live close by).
Our night was ruined. Ken was 'drunk'? and not interested in helping us out and we were not going to get any sleep.
I got home and wrote to the 'contact' page on the website and then rang in the morning and left a message. He called me back in the morning, and started yelling at me that he came down and had offered to move us and that there was no baby crying, saying that I had made it all up and called me a LIAR- saying that we were just trying to get our money back and that there was NO REFUND and DONT COME BACk and theh he hung up.
I am going to write to the local paper and am considering going to Consumer Affairs. The way he spoke to me was despicable.

My partner booked a room at last minute for that same night as she needed to be at a late meeting in the area. Enroute from Melbourne she realized that the hotel was an hour away from the meeting place. With a small baby needing to be feed and bathed and put to bed, logistically this was not going to work. As she booked the hotel only a few hours earlier she tried to cancel. The owner, not the nice person at reception was stone cold in his response. "No refund, in part or full. Our policy"
So... I dropped my partner at her meeting drove with the baby to the motel (1hr) then drove back (1hr), picked her up and drove back to Melbourne. These people do not understand good will. Yes, it was an error made in haste but we travel down there often for work obligations and this kind of management is a reflection on the kind of "hospitality" one can expect.
I did get the key, took the cheap toilet paper, shampoo and tissues before returning the key and leaving. Not bad for $159.50

Very disappointed in this place. The pictures are deceiving. We presumed we were staying in a new cabin, but instead it was a very older motel room. I had four children with me and besides the pool ( which was supposed to be heated, was freezing) there was no where for them to play outside. A small area of lawn, the rest concrete. Shower leaked everywhere on to bathroom floor, had to use towels to lay everywhere. Shower head couldn't stay upright, broken. Carpets very dirty. Walls, where there had been marks were just brushed over with paint brush. The only plus for this place was the beds. They were comfortable and clean linen. Host not very welcoming at all. We paid a lot for this accommodation as I thought it was a cabin, but they were $100 more a night to stay in. There is a small room for kitchen , but just sink , fridge and microwave. Plenty of cutlery etc, but not sure why that is all there for as you can't prepare a proper meal. Definitely never stay here again. Owners should make sure they don't mislead people with their advertising.
