2 night stay with a reasonable double bed, microwave, toaster and good hot water. Room was clean but all very dated and bathroom 'area' a bit of a mish-mash of components. Owners live on site but no attempt I am aware to limit the near all-night noise and exploits of a drug-fuelled, arguing couple.

I have stayed at the El Toro motel on several occasions and always found it clean & comfortable, I have read several commenrts regarding noise etc, my wife and I have stayed in various motels all over the world from budget to 5 star and one thing we have found they have in common is thin walls, I always pack ear plugs it works for me. In regards to the post about crickets in the walls, it's country Victoria, be thankfull it wasn't a mouse plague! (remember the ear plugs) The rooms have a fridge, toaster, microwave, iron, flat screen T.V and the management offer fresh milk for your tea & coffee along with a diverse in room breakfast menu. If you are looking for a 5 star motel with 5 star service then don't book this motel. If your looking for a comfortable stop over on your travels or for a place to stay on a visit to this wonderfull area you should be OK. As I said my wife and I have stayed in numerous motels all over the world and the EL Toro offers what I like to call the 3 S's, somewhere to sleep. somewhere to shower & somewhere to sh......... well you get the picture?

El Toro is pretty good accommodation, in the town where Mary Mackillop created the first primary school in Victoria. I was there to celebrate a 90th birthday in the town centre.
A group booked, and even though previous advertising stated 'single $10 cheaper". Not so.
Oh well. The room was excellent. Large and roomy unit. Comfy bed. Everything you require, even fresh milk. That's country hospitality for you. The bell didnt work on entry to reception but it didnt matter because the french poodle, appropriately named Belle, barked to alert my arrival.
Double glass doors opened toward a tree vista. Quite nice recovering from the previous
nights shindig, lying in bed, watching the speckled sunshine. and Yes, the 90 year old was the life of the party, and last to leave.

Exhausted after the longest drive I've ever made in one day, 1000 km from Bourke - Brewarrina - Numurkah after paddling a section of the Darling River. After hearing the 3 pm news when Victoria announced Border Closure that night, I had to press on and keep driving to get over the border before midnight. This motel was heaven for a tired body; well appointed, comfortable, and the airconditioner was quiet

A group of us stayed here 12 months ago and although a bit run down it was passable so we booked again for the same event as it is the only motel in Numurkah. We booked for 2 nights with friends but we left after one night. Hard to list everything that was wrong. We booked months ago and confirmed our booking prior to arrival but we did not get the rooms we had booked. The place was dirty, even more run down, and service terrible. Some of our rooms were missing towels, toilet paper, crockery etc. Reception was closed the whole time we were there, had to phone owner for each check in or request for assistance, who then arrived from elsewhere after a while. One of our group was told there wasn't a room available despite our booking and were put in the flat which was a disgrace. No hot water, toilet paper, the TV didn't work, curtains were missing, broken fittings and the shower was a health hazard if it had worked!!! Our friends were told to use the shower in another unit when we complained. There is no way that this place would pass a basic inspection as suitable for occupancy. Do not stay here. Arrange to stay somewhere else or in another town.

Definitely not a place I’d recommend. There is no reception service and we had to wait 10 mins and a couple of phone calls before someone arrived. The ‘receptionist’ when she arrived didn’t have a key to get into the office and had to go back to a cafe on the main road. Then when I tried to pay, the machine wouldn’t work and after a few phone calls with an absentee owner, she said she had to go get another one - another 5-10 mins. We just dumped our bags and left for a funeral we had to attend. Later we had to go through the process again of getting someone to check us in. Again it took 15 mins of phone calls.
Extremely bad service.
Our room is adequate but barely 3 star. $110 with no glasses, plates or cutlery (except 1 teaspoon), no kettle in the room and no wifi. The bathroom smells like it needs a good clean and the fridge also (that was turned off and smelled of mould).
There is only 1 bedside lamp with its switch under the bed and the 1 overhead light is operated only from a switch at the entrance.
There seems to be a permanent group of residents - itinerant workers apparently.
We have stayed here a couple of times the last time just 8 months ago and felt it was OK for the price but we would definitely not recommend it to anyone unless they are desperate.

The motel really needs an overhaul,. Looking at the edging around the bathroom door, it is rotting. Looking at the shower I did not feel comfortable about showering. Would I recommend this place, no , would I go back no. Even if you have to go onto the next town before you stay here.
The air conditioner was on heat all night and the room was cold all night.

Booked in for 4 nights but stayed only 1. Kitchen ok ,but walls, doors, curtains, floor awful. Only shower was in en-suite, for a 3 bedroom flat just not acceptable. Never never stay there again. We would of slept in the car but was no room.

My girlfriend & I stayed at the El Toro last night (21/02/12) as we often stay in Numurkah and had passed this place, it looked interesting. I picked up the keys in the afternoon and was shocked by the sloppy appearance of the reception and the staff. The room appeared nice, excellent TV and facilities for a modest priced hotel. It was later in the night, when the crickets, which we discovered where in a filthy lower loft in the bathroom, started there niose. It never stopped unless we went in to the bathroom and banged the walls, then it would come back in a minute. Our sleep was destroyed, and a phone call to management in the early hours of sleeplisness only brought lame excuses of cricket plagues. The shower had spiders and cobwebs in it, and we got up and ready as soon as daylight hit, we had to get away from the noise. To ad insult to injury, my girlfriend who had paid cash the morning before, was phoned up by the Numurkah police on her way to work. The police said the El Toro had phoned them claiming she didnt pay. My girlfriend did a u-turn and drove back to the hotel and let them know exactly what she thought of there lazy atitude and misconceptions. The hadn't given a reciept but remembered her paying. We were very unhappy with the crickets in the room and the cleanliness over all, the staff are unhelpfull and it's a rude insult to be accused of not paying. There sloopy book keeping led to them falsly thinking we hadn't paid, yet they didnt' have the decency to ring my girlfriend first, and they had her mobile, they rang the police first. Worst hotel we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in hundreds all over victoria for years.

Great location, on the main street but there was little traffic overnight. Room was big, beds comfortable, good TV reception. Decor was dated but serviceable. Hot water took forever to get to the shower. Couple of eateries nearby but they close early. Freindly management. We used this motel as a convenient stopover on a trip to New South Wales.
