We had a wonderful stay at the Union Hotel. Mick is an awesome host. Our room was lovely and comfortable. We had fish and chips for dinner in the bar, huge serving, very yummy! Was great to sit in the bar and chat with the locals. The hotel is right in the middle of town, across the road from the bus station. There is a lovely lake & boardwalk for a lovely walk very close by. We will be back!
Had dinner here after reading other recommendations in Trip Advisor. Simply put, the meals were excellent. The Slow cooked pork at $24 was possibly the best I've ever eaten. My wifes Beef Schnitzle at $15 was large, tender and delicious, (the bit I got to eat). The staff were very attentive and efficient. The dining room is large and would seat over 60 people (if full). The decor is "old country pub" and should not be compared to something like Train Bleu in Paris, even if some reviewers expect this. No hesitation in recommending to anyone.
Stayed overnight whilst visiting family. Upgraded rooms clean and functional. No cooked breakfast but bread for toasting supplied and Juice. Tea and coffee availablein room. Meal prices reasonable and for me typical country size portions.
A little disappointed that there was so much that was not available on the menu so we decided on tbone steakes a chicken keiv and a chicken snitzel a large one the service was good and the meal was great if had available what was on the menu would have got five star
After reviews I was relieved Though for $21 for a chicken snitzel I expect more in SA for $15 at pubs you get amazing parmeys with a great salad bar My husbands beef snitzel was huge with lots of a delishious parmeys sauce My chicken parmey was small and I couldn't even taste the sauce I lifted the cheese to check if there was any and there was a fine scraping not enough to taste though If they had consistency I'd have given another star And if reasonably priced , consistency and a good salad bar they'd get 5 Staff were absolutely lovely
