Motel was an unexpected gem. Rooms were spotless and bed was comfortable. All rooms air-conditioned with a decent Television. The cherry on top was the shower which was after a days travel was hot and water plentiful Staff were super friendly. Food was great. Overall just fab.
Would gladly recommend to any body going up that way

Every Thursday evening Bill serves up the best pizzas that one can wish for. A group of us travel across from Horsham on a semi regular basis and always have a great night. On one occasion we had friends from Holland with us and they declared them the best pizzas that they had ever come across! That from well travelled Europeans that is really saying something. It is good to book ahead so that Bill can have his personally prepared pizza bases ready. You won't be disappointed.

We went here for dinner it was one of the nicest meals we have had in a long time hubby had lamb shank and i had a real chicken schnitzel . The girl behind the bar was friendly and nothing was too much trouble even though she was very busy. Would recommend a visit for a great meal.

Such an unexpected place to get amazing quality food! There were 4 of us and we all ordered Parmis but they were huge and tasted sooo good. The meals took a while to come out because they were quite full, but they let us know before we even sat down. I would 100% come back here. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and really good food!

Lovely staff very helpful. Rooms are spotless and recently built. Help yourself to cereal, toast in kitchen and plenty to pick from. Easy walk to shops and Stick shed. I believe meals are good but not available the night we were there.

Very casual country pub with a great atmosphere with lots of locals in there as well. Amanda was an absolute delight behind the bar serving drink and taking orders. Really good pub food & big servings.

We visited Murtoa to visit the nearby Heritage listed No 1 Murtoa Grain Facility (the Stick Shed). The first Saturday of October is the Murtoa Railway Hotels night of nights. A full dining room with visitors to the Stick Shed and racegoers from the Murtoa Cup. Forget accommodation on this night as it's booked a year ahead.

I had the cheesy garlic bread, tasty and for the mains a chicken parma. Also very tasty.A nearby salad bar offers a good selection.
Dessert was little disappointing as the brandy snap cannellones were filled with instant (pressure-pak) cream instead of whipped cream which would have made a difference.

The entertainment wasn't as loud as other years and the locals appreciated it.

Good wine selection for a country pub at good prices.

The best pub around. The generous meals are extremely well priced (a lot cheaper than nearby Horsham $16 for a parma vs $23+ in Horsham) and super tasty.

A small menu but covers all the basics, and a specials menu that changes often. Wednesday nights is roast night for $14.50, and Sunday's is woodfire homemade pizzas. Bill, the owner and chef, is happy to accommodate where ever he can.

Beer is cold, plenty of wines to choose from and top shelf spirits. Service is always with a smile.

If you're in the area and love a good meal, a cold beer and a friendly yarn, make sure you drop by and say hello to Bill and his family.

After fifteen years since last visiting Murtoa, my husband and I found ourselves meeting a cousin of mine and his wife for a very private and emotional reunion. Murtoa has been our ancestral home since around 1857 and as children, many holidays spent here with our great aunts and uncles and grandparents. THE HABELS. We met at the Railway Hotel for lunch and what a great ol' place it still is. Very smartly maintained. After a few hugs and tears, it was time for lunch which did not disappoint. All meals were fabulous - we all only had mains; I ordered a steak sandwich and it was HUGE but so good. Everyone had very generous servings and delicious.
The owner Bill is a friendly, likeable chef who can really cook a hearty meal and the beer is ice cold. It was a great afternoon and created yet another great memory of our family town, Murtoa. Thanks Bill.

But it's a good pub meal. Bill is friendly and happy to engage in conversation even though he's busy! Worth a visit. Interesting heritage buildings across the street: old water tower and preserved and re-purposes bell tower.
