Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic large one bedroom unit for a similar price to a standard motel room. Huge fridge and very high quality appliances. Lots of crockery and cutlery. Enormous TV with free access to all the streaming services. Water views and balcony. Heated bathroom floor and towel rails. Short wallk along the boardwalk to shops and pub. We had a perfect couple of days. Definitely worthwhile to book direct with 5 Knots.

Situated near end of narrow peninsula with water on both sides. No rear footpaths/road. Stayed in lower level 1 bed which surprisingly still had water views(across the road). Rear of property has direct access to its own jetty. King bed in large bedroom, twin shower in modern bathroom, large tv (with Foxtel), modern quality(smeg/bosch) appliances in kitchen laundry (washer/dryer). Electric blinds at the lounge leading out to a bbq area. Winter rate made it excellent value. Owners claim luxury and you would have to agree. Would definitely recommend.

Great location, we even had a water view from Unit 2 on the ground floor with a courtyard with BBQ and view across to the water. A large apartment ideal for two to spread out a bit, big bathroom, with a washing machine and dryer in a hall cupboard. Big bedroom in the middle of the apartment, which was a bit stuffy even with the aircon running in the lounge. Easy walk to the Metung Hotel, wood fired pizza, and modern cafes, bakery. There is a general store near the hotel that has a reasonable range of food items, fruit and veg. Linen and towels were top quality. Plenty of soap, washing up liquid, and dishwasher soap. No on site management but calls were always answered promptly.

This is an establishment that has over rated itself to charge fees that are not commiserate for what you get. The one outstanding point was the view from the high rear apartments. The accommodation and facilities were about 3.5 to 4 stars. The free parking was on site and although some cover was provided, the spaces were not fully enclosed. Security of the car parking was non existent other than being on private off street parking. The unit was clean with starter packs of toiletries and kitchen/laundry cleaners. The kitchen had basic crockery, cutlery and cooking appliances. There was no pod machine for coffee, even if you brought your own pods. There was no manual citrus juicer - a basic item that any apartment needs. The wi-fi never worked (so neither did the streaming services) for the entire stay, despite logging a number of phone complaints to a reception that was not on site. The only reception access we had over 4 days was an external phone on the driveway entrance wall. There was no internal means of communication. There was a lack of bedside power points (none in one room). No wardrobe or safe in one bed room. Would not be in a hurry to stay again.

Unit 1, on the road, noisy, not private unless you close the blinds. Poor internet and even at $440 for one night for two people they charge a credit card fee then try for an extra $50 for early check in and another $50 for late check-out. Yes it's a nice unit, well fitted out, good location. But search for other options.

Nice apartment although spa was broken and then shower leaked through walls and flooded floor. Couldn’t get any assistance for over an hour. Bed comfortable. Just needs maintenance overhaul and then would be great. And need to have a number to contact someone in emergency even during office hours. Gave us discount after this happened after I didn’t accept the offer of an extra hour on last day! Very disappointed after it looked so good!!!

Many issues with this place. We stayed in Apartment 1 which was awkwardly laid out with no view, and lots of noise from accompanying apartment. Most frustratingly, they advertise free wifi but it is so slow that isn’t remotely functional. We had better internet access with our mobile 3G despite basically no mobile reception either (with Telstra). There was an unpleasant damp odour throughout. However, location is definitely a plus with a short walk into town.

In February 2020, we booked a 3 night stay for late February at 5 Knots in Metung. This was part of a longer trip to the Gippsland area in response to regional requests for increased tourism to assist economic re-building after the then tragic and widespread bushfires. On 5 Knots request, we paid in full. Shortly after booking, Covid and (the first) lockdown happened. We wrote a polite message to 5 Knots asking for our payment to be refunded, and wishing them well at this difficult time. There was no response beyond an email stating our funds were now a 'guest credit'. This was in contrast to the helpful responses from our other Gippsland bookings. Subsequently, we re-booked twice in 2020, both cancelled due to lockdowns. We finally got to 5 Knots in April 2021 (off-peak). However, 5 Knots (which had retained our payment in full for over a year) informed us that we would now need to pay another $180 for unspecified additional costs. Conclusion: money, not service or decency, rules at 5 Knots. A pity. And our apartment was tired and a disappointment. Stay elsewhere.

Metung is a lovely village on the Gippsland Lakes. Our accomodation was within walking distance of all the town's amenities. Our bed was very comfortable. Facilities were of high quality. Heating was great as it was wet and windy outside. We will come back.
