Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed recently at Tabbara Lodge in Marlo for a few days fishing. Tanya and Steve were great hosts and Marley the Border Collie was very friendly. The rooms were perfect and close to the famous Marlo Pub. I will definitely stay there again!

We stayed for 3 nights and there was nothing to fault. Tanya and Chris were perfect hosts. Facilities 2nd to none. Very cosy spotlessly clean. Exceptional accommodation and good luck guys you run an excellent business.

We have been staying at Tabbara Lodge for many years because it is very good value in an exceptionally beautiful place. It’s a convenient, peaceful and quiet place; a very pleasant stop off point on our trip down the Australian east coast, to see family in Melbourne.

The self contained cabins are very clean, and well equipped for cooking and comfort. The owners Tanya and Chris provide a helpful and relaxed service. There’s an outdoor covered BBQ area and swimming pool. It’s an easy walk to town, and to the modest commercial centre of just a few shops and a club.

It is located in Marlo which is a beautiful coastal location about 4 hours north east of Melbourne. It really is a nature lover's paradise at the mouth of one of Australia’s iconic rivers, the Snowy River. We really enjoy the bird life and wetland habitat which are superb. There is good bike and bush walking paths and access to the beach.

Of course many will go to Marlo for boating and fishing, not especially our thing, but the recently restored paddle-steamer, the Curlip, does operate for special trips in the local waterways and sometimes a little beyond, and is worth looking out for, even if you don’t get to travel on her.

If you are prepared to stay, keep quiet and don't bring any attention to yourself, this may be an ok place for you. Our male host tried to make us feel at home (and he was a lovely guy) but the female host made us feel as though we were nothing but a huge inconvenience. Be prepared for the law to be aid down by her!

Spotlessly clean, spacious and quiet. I booked a room at the lodge totally sight unseen and was delighted with what I discovered. I had lodge 3 - which was set up with a queen and a seperate room with a bunk. The bathroom was well appointed and the hot shower superb. The kitchen has everything you need and all really clean. There is a guest laundry. The grounds are well maintained with added bonus of BBQ, pizza oven and chimena with fire wood supplied. If you are thinking of staying in the Marlo area definitely consider this accommodation - so so so much nicer than a cabin in a caravan park

We booked ahead for a night at Tabbara Lodge returning from Melbourne to NSW as we had always vowed to check out Marlo on one of our frequent trips. We found the owners to be friendly and helpful (with a lovely dog), and the unit was very clean. The queen sized bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchenette well equipped. The one area that could be improved was the bathroom. It was disappointing to find a small shower cubicle with a curtain rather than a glass door. It would also have been helpful to have face washers supplied with the towels. The location was great and the gardens surrounding the units were very pleasant. These are only small details, but can make a difference to a stay.

We booked for 1 night (Saturday). Booking was easy by telephone. The 4 units are in a pleasant rustic setting. We had one of the 2 smaller units. It was compact but had everything we needed as independent travellers. The en-suite is small but there was plenty of hot water. The queen-size bed was very comfortable and warm on a cold night. The kitchenette was well equipped including a full size fridge. Our host, Tanya, was very helpful including advice on local sightseeing and dining. There was no hairdryer in the unit, but at the end of the row of units there is a laundry plus cupboards full of things you might want - including a hair dryer! We enjoyed our stay and happy to recommend.

Very accommodating lovely couple, happy to help in any way, and have 2 beautiful dogs I was allowed to pat. My friend who doesn't like dogs, wasn't bothered, as three dogs weren't on the property. Beautifully maintained property, and beautifully presented. Bring your own shampoo, but otherwise, soap, coffee, milk and tea is supplied. Very small town, pub food exceeded my expectations, and I would visit again!

Great place! Trip advisor recommendation. I Call to reserve and spoke to Tanya. Very helpful and friendly. The room was spotless. The bed super comfortable. Had dinner at the Marlo Pub. As we were leaving the lights went out in the town. When we got to The Lodge Tanya was waiting for us with a large flashlight.
Apparently the storm that we had been dealing with since leaving Melbourne affected the power. I absolutely recommend this place.
We took quick showers in the morning not wanting to run out of hot water. Do Bring your own shampoo and soap, as I did not see any. Then again I did not look for it since I had everything I needed in my bag. Beautiful gardens.

"There is a larger 'family' room but we booked late so was unavailable. The two bunks they squeeze into a smaller area is still fine, as you are generally out for most of the day. As there are only four rooms, its a quiet place, and location of each room is not a factor."
