Awesome view (ask for a room at the front) over the lake, small but cosy rooms, very good shower! and lovely breakfast included. Really cosy atmosphere inside and out, with beautiful breakfast table, cosy chairs and all. Don't expect a tv and entertainment, but come here to relax and enjoy the view. The owner/host is very welcoming and thoughtful. Really,... More

Perhaps it was the poor weather that put us in a bad mood, but this place did not change anything. We've not had any luck with B&B's. It had a good view, but was certainly not at the beach, nor were the grounds pretty, as nobody had done anything to the landscaping in many many years. The rooms were atrocious,... More

Karbethong Lodge was the perfect place for a short – 4 day break – during a journey down the NSW and Victorian coastlines. The Lodge is an old fashioned Guest House – originally built in the 1920’s and updated while still retaining its 1920’s character. The bedrooms are small but quite adequate. They are nicely painted and furnished to match... More

We stayed at Karbeethong Lodge for two nights, and really loved it. We felt like at home, rooms are very cosy, common areas very charming and welcoming, and the views on the lake and mountains just breathtaking ! Plus the hosts are very nice, helpful, and discrete at the same time. Only one tiny detail, more maintenance of the rooms... More

We loved our stay at Karbeethong Lodge. We arrived after a very long journey, feeling exhausted and were restored to sanity by sitting on the verandah with a cup of tea, looking out towards the sea. We appreciated the amazing birdlife all around (especially the kookaburra!) and the calm presence of Russell's dog. The rooms are simple here but we... More

Gorgeous views from the deck of this large house, with lawns sweeping down to the sea, Norfolk pines, bright parrots and peace. The rooms are small but the ample communal area makes up for their size (though shampoo and glasses in the rooms would have been a nice touch). Paradise is very like relaxing on the Karbeethong Lodge veranda with... More

This is not really a hotel, more of a marvellous 1950's farmhouse which is now a 5* lodge cum hostel with few concessions to the 21st century - e.g. no internet, no tv, very poor mobile phone coverage, no air con, beverage trays or even a wardrobe in the room we stayed in. On the plus side, rooms have ceiling... More

This was like stepping back in time. Beautiful old guest house that had wonderful views and very welcoming and friendly hosts. The bedrooms were comfortable and the lounge area was very inviting. It was cool when we stayed and sitting beside the open fire was wonderful.

There is a sense of peace and calm at Karbeethong that is unique in the world. The rooms are absolutely charming, and the views are spectacular. It is a place where you really can breathe. You can relax on the verandah with a good book, with a glass of wine in front of the fire, or even hire a tinny... More
