Detailed Reviews
My husband and I plus another couple spent 3 blissful days at Karbeethong Lodge last week. We had originally booked to stay in December 2020, but due to personal reasons had to cancel a week before. Graeme was very understanding and generously cancelled our booking. We rebooked for end of March 2021 and this time made the trip.
It was well worth the 6 -7 hours drive from Melbourne. The lodge is positioned spectacularly on the edge of the lake. We had the waterfront room and enjoyed the lovely view.
Graeme and Jenny were wonderful hosts and provided us with delicious breakfasts every day. They provided us with lot of sightseeing options around the area and suggestions for lunches and day trips.
The shared kitchen is huge with plenty of working space, utensils, crockery etc. Each room has its own marked fridge and there are three stoves for guests to use along with microwave and dishwashers. The lounge is extremely comfortable to sit with friends and enjoy the numerous books.
We would highly recommend Karbeethong Lodge to anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing stay.

If we'd only known what a gem this lodge was, we would have booked a longer time, much longer! Jenny and Graeme were such amazing hosts and the large spotless kitchen with all the private spots to store things was just an invitation to stay for weeks. Delicious breakfast and cozy bedrooms too. Mallacoota is one of the prettiest spots on the east coast and the view from this lodge is stunning, looking downhill over the water. Very highly recommended, for relaxation, romance, exploring.

Beautiful uninterrupted views of the Lake from this original guest house. The new owners have brought the garden back to life and given the accommodation a polish. Elegant living spaces, delightful rooms with the refreshing smell of lemon myrtle. Continental breakfast with good brewed coffee and the best compot of stewed dried fruits I have ever tasted. Good hosts with lots of local knowledge. Faultless and a cut above the other accommodation in the region.

My wife and I spent two nights here in March and loved it. Graham & Jennifer made us feel very welcome and their interaction with all the guests was an added value. Our room was large and comfortable and we felt quite 'at home'. We look forward to visiting again, especially if Graham realises his intention to host a themed weekend, such as a "mystery murder". My wife thought the venue reminiscent of Miss Marple house-guest locations1

We had a pleasant stay at Karbeethong Lodge. It was ideal for my son and I, as we travelled to various locations around Mallacoota, and Karbeethong Lodge had everything we needed. Great view of Mallacoota inlet, well-manicured gardens on property and quiet. Continental breakfast was yummy. Pleasant lounge and dining area, with nice touches and attention to details. Thank you Graeme and Jenny.

We rolled into Mallacoota late in the afternoon and were accommodated by Graham and Jennifer, gracious hosts who made us feel really welcome. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed a lovely glass of wine on the verandah after dinner at the Country Club (Golf Course). The lounge room looked so inviting but we were only there for a night and I most certainly hope to go back and take full advantage of it. The views from the lodge are beautiful and we took a walk down to the lake to see the pelicans on a stormy windy day. It was nice to chat to the other guests, our stay at the lodge made Mallacoota quite memorable for me. Thanks Jennifer and Graham!

Our aim when booking a week at this delightful lodge was to relax & unwind, and we most certainly did that. Our awesome hosts Jennifer & Graeme made us feel extremely welcome and were accommodating and helpful, directing us to activities and sightseeing. Most of the time we were happy to stay around the lodge soaking up the atmosphere and using the great amenities. The amazing country kitchen was perfect to cook our meals in and dinner on the veranda with its majestic view was sublime. My favourite spot on a cool evening was snuggling into the big old window seat in the loungeroom watching the clouds blow over the enormous lake. We looked forward to the yummy breakfasts and loved meeting all the other lovely guests that came along. We found our room very comfortable and could not fault Jen & Graeme's personal hospitality style. We can't wait to return!

Karbeethong Lodge is a hidden gem. The simple rooms are comfortable, and the view over the lake is gorgeous. Jenny and Graeme are the perfect hosts at this historical guesthouse, ready with tips and advice for the area. There is a big shared kitchen if you want to cook, and a communal sitting room with games, books and a piano. Importantly, there are no TVs in the rooms - you are here to get away from it all. Beautiful walks, boat hire, or just sharing a bottle of red on the verandah. We loved it!

Aside from the fact that it’s probably the best view in Mallacoota this place is full of charm. The main lounge room with the old piano and fireplace would be enough for me but there really is so much more character in the whole place. The owners are friendly and warm. The breakfast was great and topped off with a beautiful morning view over the lake.

The biggest mistake we made at Karbeethong Lodge was not staying for long enough! Such a magical place in the world. Beautiful setting, you feel like you’re away from it all but only 5 mins drive from Mallacoota and all that offers. You could easily spend a week at the lodge and not cover everything in the area.
5 star hotel the lodge is not, but it never sets itself up as that. It has comfortable rooms that overlook the lake. A great communal cooking area (bring your food and cook - even if you think that’s not your thing. It’s a great set up!)
All of that would be awesome but the icing on the cake is Graeme and Jenny, who are impeccable hosts. They’re when you need them to be and also leave you to your own thoughts when that’s what you need. They couldn’t be more helpful or knowledgeable.
We live in the other side of the world and in this 3 week trip - this is the place that’s our No.1 must return to spot.

No, part of the beauty of the place is that it doesn't have TV/Foxtel and you don't miss it. In fact, that is one of the things that make it special. The Guests actually talk to each other and the kids do things they normally wouldn't such as board games, card games, reading etc rather than sitting in front of "the Box" and not communicating. Don't take the lack of having a TV as a negative, it's actually a positive. There is a great little pub in town, a picture theatre and your days will be relaxing exploring the beaches, lakes area, bushwalking or just lazing on the front verandah taking in the views.
You'll enjoy your stay.
Thankfully the lodge survived the bushfires. We are all ok and looking forward to welcoming more visitors in the near future. Thanks for the note. Jennifer and Graeme
