We arrived late in the evening and found a litle jug of fresh milk in the fridge for our tea which was much appreciated. The motel looks very basic but is immaculately clean and very spacious. It is a short walk to the sea and convenient for the few pretty little shops in the main street. The landlord was friendly and asked if we had everything we needed. I really cant fault this place and for the price it was a really fabulous find. Highly recommended!

From start to finish our two night stay was completely delightful. The generously sized room was immaculate and charmingly decorated in cheerful blue and yellow colors. There was a mini kitchen with Microwave, fridge, sink, and dishes. The room looked out over a quiet residential neighborhood filled with flowers, trees, and birds and a lovely, though distant, view of the bay at Mallacoota.

Kathie, the owner, could not have been nicer, offerring many tips on what to see and do. Despite our rather late arrival the first night, she was warm and welcoming - her hospitality extending so far as to offer us a taste of their Cooper's home brew! along with a pitcher of fresh milk for our coffee for the following morning.

My husband and I are birders, so the name alone "Blue Wren", sold us. Indeed, these beautiful little birds are abundant there. We also enjoyed the most wonderful evening walk along the nearby Double Creek Nature Trail, where we saw our first wild Koala! along with many birds and wildflowers.

This is definitely one of the nicest motels we have stayed in - anywhere! We highly recommend the Blue Wren to you.

I had such a warm welcome from Joe, the owner, I immediately felt at home. He described everything I needed to know about the town, from places to eat to sites I could visit.

The room was wonderful. There was a double bed, a single bed, a separate seating area with table, a sofa, TV and a little kitchen area.

The bed and sheets were lovely and the place was so clean. I wouldn't normally mention cleanliness as its a given, but this place was spotless. The walls looked newly painted, the carpet fluffy and the shower didn't have even a hint of limescale or mould. They must work hard on the place. Oh, and there is air con too.

At something like $85 I thought this place was a bargain.

Travelling up the coast from Paynesville with my brother and his wife who were down from Europe I booked two rooms three days in advance. We arrived mid-afternoon only to be told that the rooms were not ready. We went down to town to rustle up some grub at Café 54 and tried again at about 16:00, rooms ready this time. A young bearded lad seemed rather out of his depth and asked if we could go down to the town to find an ATM to get cash as his POS terminal had gone down the night before and he was too busy to get it back on line. Since we were the only occupied rooms at that time and we were staying three nights that did not seem a reasonable request so we declined. Breakfast could not be be provided and we would have to go down to the town for that. Oh ! and our host was going down town to get some milk for our coffee. Hmm ! Jayden what were you doing all morning ?
Come Tuesday morning we brothers set off to explore the inlet by day boat and the ladies opted to explore by road. I set the "Please makeup this room" signs onto the doors and off we set. On return just before sunset the signs were still in place, nothing had been done and first priority was to rush downtown to get more coffee and milk for the morrow. At this point a family discussion decided that three nights was going to exhaust Jayden so we told him that we would move on next day. Yes, the view from the first floor was great, rooms 5 & 6 were quite acceptable but why oh why were such hopeless housekeeping activities allowed to sully the reputation of what seems to be a generally sucessful motel.

Room was spotless. Large room with space for four chairs around the dining table. Owner was a hoot and most helpful.

The location is great and only 500m into town. Easy walk.

(Be wary of the Chinese takeaway in town - we didn't try the pizzas - but the spring rolls were not a good story).

In mid winter the hotel was full - so book ahead.

We would stay again.

We booked the Blue Wren after reading the reviews and we weren't disappointed. The owners were very helpful and welcoming and the room was a pleasant surprise. It was roomy and spotlessly clean. It had a queen size bed and single as well as a couch, table and chairs. The view from the balcony was beautiful. Any wonder it had no vacancies on a Thursday night in late May.
The owners also offered info about eateries in town as well as offered information and a map of the local area.

We spent one night here recently on our way back to Melbourne from Ulladulla. From the front it doesn't look much at all but the rooms have been renovated and are comfortable and spacious. Joe the owner was great with providing info on restaurants. A very good experience at a great price.

Fairly basic street frontage belies the comfort of the rooms. Very clean, attractively decorated, room with everything you would require for a short stay. Upstairs was well worth the hike (knee issues) - lovely views of the lakes. Very quiet rooms. Seemed to me to be the best motel option in town - value for the 3 1/2 star rating. Would go back but take my own pillows.

The Big Flood! We only drove from Narooma but it was a horrible drive! Got a very warm welcome and were pleased to find a warm, clean and welcoming room. The rain didn't stop so we never saw the view. Will have to return to see the area and would choose the Blue again. Would recommend getting the courtesy bus to the Golf Club and have a fairly pricey, but excellent meal.
