Kathie, the owner, could not have been nicer, offerring many tips on what to see and do. Despite our rather late arrival the first night, she was warm and welcoming - her hospitality extending so far as to offer us a taste of their Cooper's home brew! along with a pitcher of fresh milk for our coffee for the following morning.
My husband and I are birders, so the name alone "Blue Wren", sold us. Indeed, these beautiful little birds are abundant there. We also enjoyed the most wonderful evening walk along the nearby Double Creek Nature Trail, where we saw our first wild Koala! along with many birds and wildflowers.
This is definitely one of the nicest motels we have stayed in - anywhere! We highly recommend the Blue Wren to you.
The room was wonderful. There was a double bed, a single bed, a separate seating area with table, a sofa, TV and a little kitchen area.
The bed and sheets were lovely and the place was so clean. I wouldn't normally mention cleanliness as its a given, but this place was spotless. The walls looked newly painted, the carpet fluffy and the shower didn't have even a hint of limescale or mould. They must work hard on the place. Oh, and there is air con too.
At something like $85 I thought this place was a bargain.
Come Tuesday morning we brothers set off to explore the inlet by day boat and the ladies opted to explore by road. I set the "Please makeup this room" signs onto the doors and off we set. On return just before sunset the signs were still in place, nothing had been done and first priority was to rush downtown to get more coffee and milk for the morrow. At this point a family discussion decided that three nights was going to exhaust Jayden so we told him that we would move on next day. Yes, the view from the first floor was great, rooms 5 & 6 were quite acceptable but why oh why were such hopeless housekeeping activities allowed to sully the reputation of what seems to be a generally sucessful motel.
The location is great and only 500m into town. Easy walk.
(Be wary of the Chinese takeaway in town - we didn't try the pizzas - but the spring rolls were not a good story).
In mid winter the hotel was full - so book ahead.
We would stay again.

The owners also offered info about eateries in town as well as offered information and a map of the local area.
Doznil.
"Rooms on the top floor at the rear have nice distant views of the water. All rooms face north and come with a little patio table and chairs for two so you can enjoy your breakfast in the sun looking at the view."Read full review
