My family stayed at The Oaks Lilydale for our daughter’s wedding at The Vines in January 2022. Kerry, our host, was delightful and helpful in every way – and the breakfast provisions were excellent (fresh strawberries, yogurt, milk, cereal, bread/muffins, chocolates). Communication with Kerry was brilliant - she is so responsive and thoughtful. The accommodation was simply amazing – and beyond our expectations. Rosebery cottage is fabulous – three bedrooms. Upon opening the door of Rosebery cottage, it opens to a large modern kitchen with island bench and stools, dining table (perfect for a game of Celebrity Head or one of the many other games you can find in a cupboard under the island bench) and lounge room. The first bedroom on the left has a beautiful bay window, queen bed and an ensuite (complete with bathtub – and a few bath toys for the kids, toilet and shower). There is also a laundry. Great iron (perfect to iron important “Father of the Bride” shirt). The second bedroom on the left has a beautiful queen bed. And the third bedroom (my favourite) is sensational – large king bed, its own lounge room with tv, kitchenette and accessible bathroom (shower, toilet, sink, great size mirror) – plus a small outside area outside the backdoor. There is also a fabulous outdoor area running off the kitchen and third bedroom with bbq and large outdoor table. We also had the Lavender Suite which runs off Sage Cottage (shares the same verandah). It has a queen bed, ensuite (shower, toilet), kitchenette and small lounge area. Perfect for a romantic weekend away or privacy from a big family. Great breakfast supplies here too. And, wow, wow, wow, a perfectly restored Melbourne tram – with so many amazing intricate details (and everything in traditional yellow and green – yellow toaster, yellow and green mugs, plates). The tram has two beds – both doubles – one at either end. There is also a small kitchenette (with breakfast supplies) and bathroom (shower and toilet). The seating area is a true tram passenger area. Great photos inside and outside. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED all of the accommodation - comfort level, cleanliness, linen, towels, breakfast provisions - and the quality of the tram, cottage, suite was incredible. For a bride and groom – this is the place for you – brilliant for photos in the garden, tram, cottages (so many choices). The location is whisper quiet – incredible given its proximity to Lilydale and the highway. Only the native birds wake you up – fantastic! And parking is plentiful and undercover.

Most amazing group venue to stay. Nice and quiet with a country feel. Beautiful rooms in the two amazing houses. Cannot fault the venue and how welcoming the owners were. Definitely a place to stay particularly if looking for group accomadation for weddings in the wineries just beyond it.

We had the whole 2 cottages booked for our bridal party accommodation, 1) Sage Cottage to hosts the groom and groomsmen and 2) Roseberry Cottage to hosts the bride and bridesmaids. Both cottages are absolutely lovely, amazing Victorian decor with very comfortable couches, beds, bathtubs, and very nice amenities for the kitchen for us to cook BBQ the night before, the morning after and also used the kitchen to cook up a storm for breakfast the morning of. The grounds itself is very picturesque and you're definitely able to take opportunities for photos prior to the wedding itself but our photographers and videographers really love the interiors too! Kerry has been absolutely wonderful even before we booked, here are a few things (not limited to!!) that Kerry has done which is absolutely above and beyond; - Showed us the whole entire area including grounds and even gave us some fresh Persimmon from her tree! - Kindly provided us with a late checkout so we are able to sleep in and have adequate time to obtain wedding goods from the venue late-morning instead of having to rush everything the morning after our wedding - Allowed us to invite guests for one of the night so we are able to have a pre-wedding BBQ for overseas and interstate guests (and they also fell in love with the cottage) - Helped us in every detail (me, especially, the bride) with Bridal party gifts preparation and also recommended local suppliers with regards to transport and nannies I really cannot recommend Kerry and her family enough for their generous hospitality and of course, the beautiful grounds and cottages! We definitely will be back when we are down there next!!

We loved this place. Even there was just the 2 of us we didn't feel overwhelmed by the big spaces at all. Very comfy bed and lounge area was such a breath of fresh air after a series of hotels along the way. The host couldn't have been more helpful with recommendations and directions. The cottage is a comfortable walk to town and just far enough off the main road to be wonderfully quiet.

Our adult group of five stayed at The Oaks in Sage Cottage for two nights in early October. We had a marvellous time and were treated like honoured guests. During our stay we walked in the area, sat in the garden, read books in the sun, had coffee outside in the beautiful, protected and quirky terrace; sat up until late talking in the elegant and comfortable sitting room; slept soundly in the comfort, beauty, quiet and privacy of our rooms; strolled around the gardens; explored the Yarra Valley a little (when we could drag ourselves away) and for breakfasts enjoyed our very ample welcome hamper. We all felt that because of the garden setting and extremely high standard of decor and comfort, as well as magnificent hosts, we were as relaxed as we would have been had we stayed several days in many other places. We all rated it excellent value for money. Don’t let the address fool you! The Oaks is on a service road which ends at their property. It is set up high and with a large buffer zone of trees and garden there is no road noise at all from the Maroondah Highway. It is like a secret hideaway. Kerry and Peter are the perfect hosts: accomodating, friendly, knowledgeable about the Yarra Valley, available but never intrusive. The gardens and accomodation are all in perfect condition, very spacious and spotlessly clean. Even the linen was top quality and the coffee machine, lovely china and cutlery as well as everything necessary for meal preparation - and all high quality and colour co-ordinated. Thank you Kerry and Peter for a marvellous weekend. We will return! Joan, Tony & co

We hit upon Roseberry Cottage at the Oaks in Lilydale as our abode for 9 weeks in the area, where we came to attend the wedding of our niece in nearby Olinda in the Dandenongs. From the very first contact, we found owner Kerry Stanton to be a very gracious, friendly, helpful, sympathetic and welcoming host. During our stay, she could not do enough to ensure our happiness and satisfaction, and by the time we left she and husband Peter were real friends. Wonderful ambassadors for Australia! The house itself is only 18 months old, and has been built as a traditional cottage but in a tasteful, practical and modern style. The outside is charming in style and setting., Enter the front door and a large open area of polished hardwood flooring opens before you, encompassing a living area with large flatscreen tv( featuring FOX and SKY news among other things). The dining area features a large square solid polished wood table, with most sides facing windows. The kitchen is spacious, with a huge polished wooden island, abundant drawers and cupboards, all very well supplied with everything a renter(long or short term) could possibly want. The master bedroom was delightful, with a lovely glass enclosed sitting area. The bed was supremely comfortable, and the linens wonderfully smooth. The bathroom was large with excellent glass, enclosed shower and separate clawfoot bathtub. Lashing of hot water. There is a second, middle bedroom, very attractive, though without separate facilities, and a third large and attractive bedroom at the rear, with its own sitting are, mini kitchen with many appliances and utensils, and a large ensuite bathroom with open shower. The ceilings are all very high, featuring wide crown mouldings, while there are elegant and wide skirting boards throughout the house. The elegant light fixtures/chandeliers also feature splendid large ceiling roses. Throughout the house, there is ample use of stained glass in many of the windows, done in a discreet and tasteful way that really enhances the ambience and class of the house. The whole ensemble of the house evinces and projects an aura of understated class and sophistication that is always a joy to come home to. The back wooden deck is covered, solidly made, and includes an excellent BBQ that heats in no time and cooks very well. There is an excellent solid wooden table and chairs that easily accommodates 6 or more people there, great for most meals. At the front of the house is a delightful small mosaic table( I believe made by artsy Kerry herself) with two chairs, a great spot for a glass of wine in the afternoon, while contemplating the lovely palm tree and towering oak and gum trees around the property. The carport is attractive, in the style of the house, and very solid. Kerry will go out of her way to provide anything the renter might seek . The location of the house is perfect for those seeking a few days to enjoy and explore the wonderful Yarra Valley or the Dandenong range. The finest winery in Yarra valley, Coombe, home of dame Nellie Melba, is a 10 minute drive away! Lots of great walking nearby on the Lilydale to Warburton old train track( best at Woori Yallock and Killara),all but a 10-15 minute drive away, as is the pleasant 30 minute walk around Lilydale lake. Woolworths supermarket is excellent in the shopping centre less than 5 minutes away, while the terminus of the Metrolink train to Melbourne Flinders station is also 5 minutes drive away. In short, all so convenient and practical in every way. A stay in Roseberry Cottage at The Oaks is sure to please and delight the lucky renter! We can't wait to go back !
