Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is a step back in history. From the moment you walk down the pathway to the front door you see old style luggage cases heaped on a trolley, weighing scales and old railway signs. Lovely manicured gardens.
We stayed there (recently (late June) the sun was shining but it was freezing. Inside the Old Railway Station the Coonara wood heater was burning merrily and our room, lounge area and bathroom with spa bath, were toasty warm. Each room was once part of the station. Our hosts Cherrie and Max were lovely, very social, knowledgeable and cooked us a fabulous in-house dinner and delicious breakfast.
A stop here is a must on your adventure. Enjoy.

This is the place if you like history, trains, old worlde architecture & charm with great friendly hosts and a very generous ,made to order BIG breakfast [hubbie had 2 slices of toast, 2 poached eggs, 2 grilled tomato halves, wilted spinach and crispy bacon washed down with delicious organic orange juice!! ]

The B&B is quiet and charmingly decorated on a large, country-style landscape. The main advantage is the friendly host, Max. He is delightful, accommodating and very helpful.

This place is highly recommended!

In house B&B but separate to owners. Large rooms with own ensuite & lounge area, also a common lounge area. Beds very comfy, very homely, owners very generous and friendly, and looked after every need. We ate in one night, meals excellent, homemade and breakfast was very well catered for. Great stay and extremely good prices in comparison to others around Lancefield. Would definitely stay again. Only issue was car park a distance from accommodation which made it hard with luggage especially when raining but owners happy to carry cases.

We arrived at Old Railway Station Lancefield one rainy afternoon, and from the moment we walked inside we felt a home away from home. Max and Sherie were so accomodating and we could not have felt more welcomed. We were there for a wedding at Cleaveland Winery and although just 1.8 ks down the road, Max was kind enough to drop us off and pick us up at the end of the night. The breakfast exceeded our expectations and my boyfriend and I both agreed it was the best bacon we have ever had. The house and decor was old world and charming, with a lovely leafy garden and old railway theme. We could not be more appreciative of the warmth we received throughout our stay. Highly recommend.

Had a fabulous two night stay while I was in town for a conference. I was made to feel incredibly welcome and the service was amazing. I even had a chauffeur service to my conference so I could have a few drinks at the conference dinner.
Breakfast was supplied with coffee, juice, fresh local eggs and so well prepared. Everyone at my conference was very jealous of the service I was getting.

The Old Railway Station is beautifully decorated - our room was spacious with full sitting area. It was a cold time of year but everywhere inside was beautifully warm. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Max was full of interesting snippets of history. The surrounding countryside is very pretty. All well worth a visit.

I booked as a surprise for my partner and neither of us were disappointed. Beautiful historical building, eclectically but well appointed. A delight to stay at, hosts Cherie and Max as welcoming and easy going. Max is a fountain of knowledge and Cherie cooks up the most sensational breakfast. Great value for money.

What a great place to stay, from the welcome to our departure every need was met - Max and Cherie the perfect hosts. All the local information you could wish for and at the ready to respond to requests. Scrumptious breakfast to top it off.

Can you get drinks and dinner there?
Answer from TheVals

You can make tea and coffee and take your own beverages. Apart from a great breakfast, no other meals are available. However, we had two excellent meals at the local pub - Nice atmosphere and good quality. About a 500m walk.
