Rating and reviewing on the Hotel and meals. Not for accommodation as did not stay. The exterior and interior were fully repainted in October and is very light inside and pleasant. There are 2 dining areas, and also a smaller area in the Bar. Always very pleasant staff providing good service. My meal was a Chicken Parma with vegetables and chips. Though I prefer my vegetables baked, the steamed veggies were hot to start with but quickly cool. I have had other meals and always found satisfactory. Crumbed cutlets are tops, plus the Beer Battered Barramundi. Two types of the local Palling Brothers boutique beer are on tap, plus other most common beers. Always very clean. Good TV's to watch horse races on on Saturday arvo's.

Current licencees took over 1 January 2020, closed Hotel for 3 months for renovations. COVID Virus restrictions on numbers knocked them around when able to open. Between the previous 2 COVID restrictions on numbers of customers permitted, the Hotel really took off gaining a reputation for quality meals and service. Since most recent 2021 Lockdown in Victoria, the hotel has been going gangbusters. I'm local and a regular since Hotel opened in 2020 under new management. I can't comment on accommodation. My rating on rooms is for downstairs in bar and dining areas. DISREGARD any reviews prior to 2020.

We went to the Union Hotel on Saturday for lunch. It was very busy as it was the Heathcote Wine weekend but the meal service was quick and the meals were generous in size. Food was tasty, had the roast pork and I wasn’t disappointed.

Current licencee took over 1 January 2020, closed Hotel for 3 months for renovations. Disregard any critical Review prior to 2020. As a local I dine regularly at this Hotel. Last night my son and his wife dined with me at The Union for the first time. On my recommendation each had the Crumbed Lamb Cutlets with vegetables were both 100% satisfied. They are quite discerning diners who eat out a lot at pubs and restaurants. I had one of the Specials; Penne with bacon, spring onion and creamy sauce. It was the best of many Pasta meals I have ever eaten. To be ensured of a table, book ahead. Very popular, especially on Friday evenings and at weekends.

Visited on 31 Dec 2020.

With limited staff, the owner Terry was run off his feet, but still spent time with each table locals at the bar. Clean and cheerful country pub.

The place was packed with travellers and locals.

Food was great.Just order the chicken parma or fish and chips. Its in my top 3 best pub parmas.

Will be back next time in Victoria.

Old pub charm with modern service. The team were clearly not expecting the number of people turned up but the service was flawless. Food was fast, hot, good! We both enjoyed our meals and the Manager was courteous under pressure.
Would certainly visit again.

Excellent meal.
Dining room very well decorated.
Service was friendly and efficient.
An unexpected surprise as we were warned that it was the rough pub but we found the exact opposite.
The only pub serving meals midweek.
Meals reasonably priced wines on expensive side but nice.
Overall a good experience.

Terry the publican and Sonia were very welcoming despite being very busy. We had the special which was the chicken Curry. Very very nice. Worth a visit and a meal, when visiting Heathcote. A lovely country atmosphere and within a walking distance from the caravan park which we were staying.

The service is very rude, the kitchen people often swear and say bad things about each other, food takes far too long to arrive, place looks tired, unclean and the food is average. I don't recommend a meal at this pub.
