Loved the larder idea where you could sample an array of produce from the local area. We also added the BBQ pack to our stay. We loved the food so much we took a trip into town to purchase more of the produce to take back home with us. Thank you for catering to my dietary needs (coeliac). It was very much appreciated.

Thank you so much Jackie for sharing your experience with us on the Ridge. We're absolutely stoked you had an amazing time and LOVED the larder concept and the BBQ! In regards to dietaries, you're so welcome - it's no sweat because that is what we do! And finally a small thank you on behalf of the local businesses you went and visited. Because, that is exactly why we show case them. We can't wait to welcome you again. Until then, happy adventures!

I stayed here for two nights with my partner at the end of February for my birthday, and it was more than an amazing experience. Organising a stay here is easy. Rebecca communicates very well, and is responsive to messages and calls.
We booked the Fly First Class package online and it was jam packed with lots of activities. Our package started with a helicopter flight from Essendon airport to a private drive from drop-off location from landing strip to accommodation which we stayed for 2 nights. We watched the sunset with a bottle bubbles on the first night, and a full day private winery tour was organised on the second day. We were provided with a breakfast basket filled with eggs, bread, veggies, jams and butters, tea, coffee and juice, and much more for both mornings. For dinner we had a BBQ basket on the first night and Italian pasta on the second, both filled with everything you need to cook ourselves in the kitchen. On top of all the activities in the package, we had a private driver on the morning of the third day to drop us off back to Melbourne. Did I mention we also got complimentary Kangaroo Ridge Retreat pyjamas each!
The Cabin itself has a fully functioning kitchen, a fireplace, outdoor BBQ, TV, selection of board games and even a spa. It’s super comfortable, homely and you can appreciate all the little details in the cabin. But the best part was the view from the deck, it is spectacular! You can watch the sunrise overlooking the Yarra Valley early in the morning that was breathtaking.
I can’t recommend Kangaroo Ridge Retreat enough and will definitely come back whenever we stay in the Yarra Valley region again.

Kangaroo Ridge is a great little Yarra Valley escape. Beautiful views, great breakfast/dinner packages for self prep and cozy accommodation. Rebecca keeps the larder stocked with local beer, wine and preserves at really reasonable prices too so you can get a taste of the region. We booked the wine tour as part of the sneaky mid-week package - was so convenient to go tasting and get door to door service!

There isn’t a bad thing I could say about Kangaroo Ridge. The room was amazing, and the views were even better.
We ordered a dinner pack for one of the nights, but even without that the room was fully stocked with food and alcohol, and that along with the books and games in the room you really don’t even need to leave.
There was a small weather event in Melbourne which caused some damage to the driveway, Rebecca had sent us a message before we arrived so that we were aware and there were no surprises. She also messaged us after we checked in to make sure we had everything we need.
The wine tour we booked through KR was excellent. Craig, being a local, knew everything there was to know about the Valley and took us to some amazing wineries. Thank you to Rebecca and her team, this was such a great last minute find, we will definitely be coming here again!

We had a perfect time here! The view was outstanding the spa was so relaxing and a decent size for 2 people to stretch out comfortably. We had a ‘midweeky’ package which included dinner as well as breakfast and also a wine tour on our second day. The bbq package was great! Beautiful produce and great value. The pasta was very good too. The breakfast that was provided was also great as well with fresh eggs, avocado, tomato, fresh bread and what looked like a home made muesli. They give you a little card with each dinner as well with a pre selected Spotify music list to ‘set the mood’ and also beverage match ideas that you can select from the larder. The larder selection of wines is amazing as well.
Seeing rabbits everyday as well enjoying themselves in the sunshine, hearing the birds from dawn to dusk. And hearing nothing else .. it was just so peaceful and relaxing. Couldn’t ask for a better place.!

Thank you so much Brittlez for taking the time to review us here on Instagram! We are delighted that you had a wonderful time and enjoyed our Sneaky Mid-Weeky Package. If we do say so our selves we love this package with the tour and all the dinners included. By coming mid-week you avoid the crowds and also you almost have the wineries to yourself! We love that you enjoyed out playlists and our food packs. We have a lot of fun finding the right produce locally to complement the experience out on the balcony or the cabins. We can't wait to welcome you back here!

I couldn't recommend Kangaroo Ridge more highly. The communication on arrival (and before, and after!) was excellent, and meant that we had a really good idea what to expect from our stay. My partner and I loved the views, the serenity and the wildlife. It's perfect for a romantic getaway as the fridge & wine cellar is well stocked (and at very respectable prices), which means that you can tour Healesville & surrounds without ever leaving your room. The cabin was perfectly clean, tidy, and well provisioned (including bathroom products etc.), and with so many thoughtful extras and finishing touches - it's clear lots of work has gone into making the experience truly special. Thanks team for the brilliant mini-break!

Having stayed at an accommodation with similar specs, sweeping mountain views and similar price point, this accommodation did not meet the luxury experience we were hoping for.

The positives were that the accommodation is in a peaceful lovely location, has a fireplace, a great spa tub with a view, tasty provisions and easy check in. However, there a number of amenities left to be desired that could be rectified with optimization of space and a few purchases, some cheap, to meet expectations of "luxury."

The kitchen could be more functional with basic kitchen items, for example, colander to drain pasta/wash veggies, coasters, microwave, dishwasher, better bins and more comfortable seating. The lounge area similarly could have better seating; while in the bedroom we would have expected at least a full size wardrobe and queen size bed. Probably the most inconvenient issue was a BBQ of which we were told we had to hold the cable in place or it would not turn on - it would have been great to have had a replacement.

The overall experience also felt very commercialized with a lot of items (aside from the larder) on sale, from glasses, to not being able to take toiletries you'd use, to having to add bacon for extra to a breakfast hamper, to the wardrobe being stocked with PJs we didn't order for sale, to needing to rent the BBQ if you didn't order a BBQ pack. Aside from the beverages and pasta, some of the larder snacks weren't actually local to the Yarra Valley and I was looking forward to a curated Yarra Valley experience. There are definitely inexpensive ways to make guests feel like they are getting something out as they put something in - and really give them that experience of luxury Valley stay.

I was unpleasantly surprised by how different our experience was based on the overwhelming positive reviews, but I suppose to each their own!

Thank you Chido for taking the time to review us. We’re delighted to hear you loved our location, our service & cleanliness, the fireplace, the tasty local provisions and our views. Like you, we are frustrated that the BBQ malfunctioned. Unfortunately over time, things do break so we are glad you gave us the opportunity to come and assist you with a somewhat workable solution for the BBQ (albeit not the smoothest one because a replacement cable was not available). We’re saddened to read that it put a real dampener on your experience and as a result how your viewed our service. We found that after the recent heavy rain, water made it‘s way in and blocked the contact points. We are actively working on a BBQ solution to avoid this from happening again because we want our guests who opt into having our BBQ packs to have an extraordinary BBQ experience. We love that you got to experience our innovative in-cabin Larder system. You saw that our in cabin wine bar and larder showcases Victorian made products, of which 97% comes within a 20km radius of KRR. Incidentally, due to recent closures of some Yarra Valley producers, such as Yarra Valley Pasta, we‘ve had to broadened who is included if we cannot source it within our 20km zone. This meant you saw jerky from Geelong, olives from the Wimmera and artisan fresh pasta from a family based business in Melbourne. But it is not just the food and wine that make our experience a curated Yarra Valley experience. All items in the cabins have deep local connections. The glasses you used are sourced from a local business owners who live just over the ridge, our bath products are hand created locally in Yea, the books are purchased from the local bookstore in Healesville, the art is either vintage and collected from the local area or created in the Yarra Valley and regional Victoria. Even the furniture you sat on is local - a local fiber artist recycled and created a stunning occasional chair. The bedhead and shelves are made from a 150-year-old pin oak tree that grew in Healesville. So, in all respects you touched, smelled, breathed, drank, sat on, bathed in, wore, ate, and slept in a curated Yarra Valley experience before purchasing any extras. Perhaps we need to make the local connections a bit more obvious? However, we are also cognisant of not trying to oversell anything because as you observed, we do have a lot on offer so you do not need to bring a thing. In terms of making cheap additions or changes, thank you for your suggestions. Luxury is having 20 local wineries, breweries, distilleries and small goods on hand without interruption or having to drive. We make it clear prior to booking and during the lead up to your arrival that our cabins are not self-contained and are unable to cater for BYO. We also do not call it a mini-bar, because it is not 'mini'. While we have swapped the microwave out for a wine fridge, we ensure we supply all the necessary tools and utensils needed to enjoy our dinner and breakfast provisions. High quality bath-wash, lotion, shampoo and conditioner are free to use for while you stay, all made locally of course. We opt for fully sized products that we clean and refill to avoid waste and the environmental impacts of small plastics. This is quite common practice in boutique accommodations. On the contrary to your bed size comments our queen-sized bed is positioned for ultimate sunrise viewing. In terms of bins, there are two small bins inside the cabin and two large bins for trash separation outside the cabin near the water tank. For the wardrobe, yes it is smaller than a standard wardrobe because the cabin is a cozy 45m2 and with that in mind, we prepare everything so you can pack light and perhaps accidentally on purpose forget your PJs. So thank you for coming to stay, we take all your points seriously and appreciate the time you took to review us. We’re happy to read you loved the experience - our location, our service, the fireplace, tasty local provisions and our views are exceptional. We recognise the BBQ did malfunction while you were here and we are very happy that we had an opportunity to assist you to make it work. And on behalf of the many small local Yarra Valley and Victorian businesses you supported by just coming to stay, we thank you. Cheers, Rebecca P.s Just a small suggestion, perhaps reconsider the review you gave to the Zimbabwean accommodation and change it to 5 stars. You wrote you had an amazing time, recommended it to everyone and loved the stay. That’s a well earned 5-stars and not 4-stars.

Kangaroo Ridge Retreat is simply amazing. Words cannot do it justice, it must be experienced.
I had very high expectations after looking at photos for weeks and reading many reviews but our stay exceeded those expectations and more.
We are not people to spend much time where we stay as we love to explore and visit restaurants and wineries but we found ourselves wanting to spend as much time as possible on our balcony or inside the cabin.
It is also great for all seasons as when the temperature dropped at night, we simply moved from the picturesque views to the indoor fireplace which provided just as much relaxation.
We were so absorbed by the views and the relaxed cabin that we did not even think about turning the TV on. In fact, we actually unplugged it so we could charge the speakers to continue to listen to the playlists that Kangaroo Ridge Retreat had provided.
The additional extras such as the breakfast hamper, pasta night and BBQ pack are so amazing. They were all delicious and mean that you can do things at your own pace.
The larder is also incredible. It made us feel like we had Yarra Valley at our finger tips. The quality of the product was excellent and all at really affordable prices.
Equally as great as the venue itself is the service and communication from Rebecca who made our stay so perfect. She was so great to deal with and went above and beyond to make our stay, the best weekend we have had.
There is no greater compliment than wishing we were still there!
We will definitely be back and can't wait to relive the Kangaroo Ridge Retreat experience.

My Partner and I stayed at Kangaroo Ridge for a weekend in March. Leading up to the stay, Rebecca was so friendly and helpful, giving us tips on what to do and see, eat and drink. There are so many wonderful restaurants and wineries in the area and we were pointed in the right direction.
The cabin itself was so well set up and cozy - we decided to stay in as much as possible to take in the breathtaking views and serenity.
It was the perfect little romantic get away!

Thank you for your lovely review! We are super delighted that we were able to give you a wonderful time away just before the shutdown happened. We are back and running again after the shutdown and welcoming guests again to our lovely hidden spot in the Yarra Valley. How you experienced the cabin is exactly how we aim it to be. A glass of wine taking in the view... out on the deck, in the spa or even in front of the fire. If you love red, beer or white wine or even a hot chocolate, we've got your winter covered. Even with the food and bath products in the Larder, you can still have a deep Yarra Valley experience without leaving the cabin. Yeap, basically stay up on the ridge as long as possible and love that view! We hope we can welcome you back soon! Thank you for sharing your experience!

The view is what really makes the kangaroo ridge retreat on a whole other level. You have to experience it. It’s been our favourite place we’ve stayed.
The breakfast provided was so generous. Eggs, avocado, tomato, bread, cereal, blueberries, oranges and a juicer, all of such a high quality.
Rebecca really looked after us. She was always available and responsive, going above and beyond for us. The kitchenette, bathroom and living area are presented beautifully.

Just be prepared for a double bed (we are used to a king bed so we didn’t sleep very well) but we had day naps because you can on holiday! Also be aware - we had 4 huntsman visitors over our 3 day stay! Phobia exposure therapy for me...

Thank you Estrisha for your lovely review. We are delighted to hear you had a wonderful time at Kangaroo Ridge Retreat. We aim to make it a deep local experience where you can experience the Yarra Valley without leaving the cabins. In regards to the bed, we totally understand that if you are used to a king size bed at home - moving into a luxury queen size bed can make our sleeping experience a bit more snuggly. As for the hunstmans, they are due to our location in the bush and trees and unfortunately we do come across these not so cuddly natives every now and then. Despite all our efforts to keep them out with spray barriers, screens and the like, unfortunately we have to concede that they are also Yarra Valley residents and are result of the location. Rest assured these local huntsmans are harmless, slow moving. They have been showing themselves a bit more given the dry hot conditions of late summer. We include in all our cabins spider hero kits under the sink. These include spray and a dustpan and broom to relocate them. We also include instructions on how to deal with them in our trouble shooting guide and forewarn all guests before they arrive.
